What were your opinions of the Disney Wish elevators?

I heard mixed reviews from everyone and am wondering what the majority thinks!

My experience with them was overall negative because my family member and I always witnessed people yelling at each other and being rude on the elevators, but we just didn't know what the big deal was! The buttons typically got hit by accident, but we did not find it a big deal since there are only 12 floors. They were pretty narrow, but there were many elevators!

What were all of your concerns or opinions? TIA!

I despised the elevators.
  1. The buttons didn't work. We finally had to report it to guest services as we were constantly unable to select Deck 2 from one particular elevator.
  2. My mother has a bad knee and can't move easily between elevators, so the fact that they didn't go all the way to the top (12/13) was seriously a pain if you ended up in the wrong elevator.
  3. Lots of people clumping at the front section of the elevators in a way I haven't seen on the other ships, so they spilled backwards into the hallway sometimes (it was very weird).

We have been on the Wish twice now. Found the elevators reliable for going up or down. :)

Seriously, depending on where you wanted to go, sometimes you needed to be on certain elevators. For example, if going to Palo, The Rose, or Enchante, you needed to be in the aft elevator lobby and catch one of the last two elevators.

Never encountered any rude guests. In general there was some amount of shared amusement about accidentally hitting the wrong buttons.

Sometimes when "pushing" the button, it wouldn't register, so you'd have to hover over it to make sure it registered. But on the other hand, frequently somebody would get too close to the bank of buttons on the elevator itself and several or all of them would get selected so it would stop on multiple decks.

If you were waiting for an elevator, because it would often stop on multiple decks because of the buttons getting selected, you could wait for a looong period of time.

Then we discovered that only one elevator went to deck 14, one went as high as deck 13 and one went as high as deck 12 and all of the others only went to deck 11. But there was no way to specifically select one of those elevators. If you wanted to go to decks 12-14, there was simply no point in trying to wait for one of the specific elevators because your probability of getting one was 1-3 out of 8. If an elevator arrived and it wasn't one of those, you'd have to wait for it to close then select the call button again, then play your chances. We eventually gave up and got on whatever elevator came, went up to deck 11 and then walked up. Fine for us, but if you had mobility issues, that could be a problem.

I took the stairs, as much as possible, but DH has a respiratory issue, so had to take elevators to go up.

We were on the Wish last September, so it was still quite new, folks joke about trying not to hit the buttons.

I just felt we were always waiting and after dinner they were packed. To be really honest, this was the only issue I had with the Wish. I loved the everything else about this new beauty!

🚢👍🏻💫✨

My issue with them was our room was on deck 12 and it seemed we never got an elevator that went to 12/13. Wouldn’t be a huge deal to take it to 11 and climb one flight of stairs except we had our infant in a stroller many times so that wasn’t possible. There needs to be a way to summon an elevator that goes to those floors. As far as the sensitive “buttons,” they didn’t bother me too much as we didn’t have too many accidents of them being pushed. But it’s something that should be fixed as well.

Elevators were one of many misteps in the engineering and layout of the Wish. We did a b2b in February and the elevators were always frustrating.

can you take any elevator to 11, get out, and then press the "up" button at the elevator lobby on 11? wouldn't that guarantee that one of the 12/13 elevators would come? still a pain, but that would alleviate the need to take the stairs once arriving on 11.

Yes, that works. Annoying though.

That's the only way unless you just take the stairs and yes it is a pain.

That’s what we ended up doing when we had the stroller but still a huge pain because it takes forever for that elevator to come most of the time.

I found the elevators slightly annoying to get from 10 to 13. would take the chance that maybe I'd get one of the few elevators that goes up to 13 but usually had to go up to 11 and then take another one up to 13. Found the buttons in the elevator you had to get close to them to activate, so I ended up tapping it anyway.

I hated the elevators on the Wish (mostly due to the lack of them)

Didn’t mind them. I found if you pressed the black line in the middle it activated the button. They do have labels above the doors that say what floor they goto. I actually loved how short the walk was between the two elevator areas. Hardly went to decks 12/13 so that wasn’t a factor.

I thought they were an engineering fail. Sometimes it felt like you had to have the knack to select your floor, but you could accidentally lean against the buttons and press every floor.

People naturally had to stand in front of the buttons because the lift is narrow. I did it by accident a couple of times and saw it happen countless times. Like an evil game.

The lifts themselves were fine otherwise. No issues. Sometimes it took a minute, some I’d walk.

They should recess the buttons a little to stop it, or add a cancel call button.

We disliked that there were so many elevators it was hard to watch them all to see when one opened. several times we called an elevator but when it came we looking the wrong way and another party would get in and then there wasn’t room for us so we had to call another.

I could have told you that would happen when they did away with the atrium and the mid-ship elevators - especially on the main deck. On the Dream Class (and maybe the Classics, but I didn't really notice) they had a crew member doing elevator duty during that super busy time between dining times.

Put the elevators outside of the main area and a lot of them and you're asking for a mess.

But did they take away the light at the top indicating which was opening? If so, that was just plain stupid.
