Is it just me or is EVERY SINGLE EPISODE the exact same thing? Restaurant, not up to scratch, sends food back, chef is upset, relaunch night, temper tantrum, everything is OK in the end...

i much preferred robert irvine's show of a similar nature. the one hour format on ramsey's just makes for too quick a resolution. I wonder if any of these places are still in business.

I’ve enjoyed both Kitchen Nightmares and Restaurant Impossible. Both are blunt which is needed, but I preferred Restaurant Impossible.

You can find lists online of all restaurants featured and whether they’re open or closed. I think the bulk have closed, some before their episodes even aired.

I agree. When it first came out, I enjoyed the show (the British ones too) and I liked he Hotel Nightmares show, too. But it's become extremely formulaic and he doesn't seem to even care anymore.

years ago dh and I were surprised to see a greek restaurant that had been a favorite featured on restaurant impossible. it was tragic to see how the place had gone from a great place to absolute :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

You just described about every reality-type show out there:

House Hunters International:
Person 1: I want to be in the city center and have a traditional place.
Person 2: I want to be in the country and have a modern place.
(Me: Could you people have not settled this before talking to the realtor?)

Love It Or List It:
Person 1: I'm a part-time yoga instructor.
Person 2: I'm an aspiring butterfly archivist.
Persons 1/2: Our budget is 1.4 million dollars.

I will say that they must have tweaked the most recent season of it and required some kind of pre-construction inspections on the existing homes b/c poor Hilary was constantly dealing with the fallout of unforseen costly problems with the homes and I don't recall a single major issue with any that Paige as the new host this past season had to deal with.

We're looking forward to seeing a local restaurant on one of Gordan Ramsey's show. He was just here for 2 restaurants about a month ago. We weren't told which it would be on. With the format I was guessing the Secret Service show but we'll see. They were only at the restaurant for about 2 days which seemed like the timeframe of that one vs the seemingly a week for the others. We haven't tried the restaurant but they seemed to have embraced the changes.

Per the reality shows, in addition to the conflict of people it's always:
Person 1: I hate brick and modern. I'll never buy a house with that.
Person 2: We love this ranch, slightly over budget but we can make it work.
Couple picks the brick modern they first hated. Once it was a house they said loved and fit the best.

I liked watching it as a teenager, but I've run out of patience for the argumentative restaurant owners and editing style they use in the show. Same with Bar Rescue or any of the HGTV makeover shows. There's just so much better TV and online content out there.
