What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

My interaction was bad only in that it got me in trouble with my DW.

My "affection" for Jasmine has been a running joke with my wife and I for many years. So whenever we talked with the kids about what characters we want to meet I would always say Jasmine to tease my wife

In 2008, I brought my DS and DD to meet Jasmine and Aladdin while DW ran off to get something to drink. Jasmine and Alladin were great and interacting with the kids quite a bit. All of sudden, my DD tells Jasmine that she was daddy's favorite princess. Jasmie laughed and looked up at me. It was kind of cute and funny that DD told her but of course a little embarrasing as well.

Then about 15 minutes later we are walking back in the opposite direction (with my wife with us this time) and walked past Jasmine (about 20 ft away). Jasmine happened to look over and notice me. She gave me a big wave and blew me a kiss.

My wife saw this and needless to say the look on her face was priceless. I do not think I will be allowed to take the kids to see Jasmine on our next trip.

10 years ago when my daughter was 7 we were standing on the walkway behind Hall Of Presidents...and Belle was out there. We went up to meet her and she was quite lovely. When she began talking with another guest her "cast handler" commented to my daughter that her sweatshirt was wrong. My daughter asked this young man (maybe 18 or 19 years old) what he meant by wrong he said " It say's Disney Princesses" on it but only two are actually princesses. It was a plush pink sweatshirt from the disney store with Belle, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty on it. My daughter said "no they are all princesses." He tells my 7 year old this:

"Only Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty got married, Belle never married the prince, she just lives with him."

Jaws drop.

I wanted to smack him.

I said quite loudly to that he would be sure to hear me...."Honey this young man obviously is wrong because Princesses always marry their prince. Just because they don't show it in the movie doesn't mean it didn't happen." I then told this young man quietly "You need to learn to keep your mouth shut when speaking about such things because some parents raise their children to get married before living with their mate and you have greatly offended my family." He didn't care at all and tried to joke about it again.

Seriously...I didn't want to have this talk with my daughter on vacation in Disney of all places!!!!

I've never had a bad experience with a Character-but I have had bad experiences with guests at character interactions!

At CP, we had a family that insisted on following the characters around from table to table and allowing their children to horn in on everyone else's experience. The greeters did their best, but the family suddenly lost command of the English language every time they were asked to wait at their table. Finally, the manager had to intervene-and of course, the adults played the "no English" card again-but this time it backfired. The manager addressed them fluently in their own language and ushered them back to their seats.

I've also been told at character meets that "characters are for CHILDREN, you need to get out of line and let a CHILD in". Well, sorry honey, but I paid my ticket price and if I feel that I need a picture with Mickey to make my trip magical then I'm getting one. Now, if it had come between me and her child getting to see Mickey-and she was not nasty-I would have stepped aside for her child. As it was, we both got our Mickey picture so it wasn't even an issue in the first place.

I will happily sacrifice for a child-whether it's a viewing spot for a parade, a character interaction or whatever-but NOT if you start off being nasty and telling me I have no right to the experience simply because I'm an adult.

Ours was at a character meal and I am still bitter about it. Dd, then 4, had a favorite shirt. It was a white and light blue tank with a dalmation on it. She was and still is in love with that movie. So she was very careful with this shirt and only wore it for special times. So we were sitting at a table and she was drinking chocolate milk through a straw. The character came up behind her and pulled on her arm, not roughly but enough pressure to pull the straw out of the cup. The chocolate milk went all over her shirt. She was so upset. I was never able to get the stain out:( I looked on ebay even for another one but could never find one.

The one time I went to the Disney Visa Character meet and greet, Mickey was in there, but he didn't seem his chipper self. He was all business and just posed for his picture and was done with us.

He could have just been having an off day...:confused3

YES! We had a horrible character experience during breakfast at 1900 Park Faire at the Grand Floridian. It was in April of 2008. My dd was almost 2 at the time and was very excited to meet the characters. My dd has a birth mark on her right forearm called a strawberry hemangioma-for those of you not familiar with it-it has a red, kind of "bumpy" appearance similar to a strawberry-go figure! ;) Anyway, it is totally benign and fades gradually over time. Anyway, Mary Poppins comes over to our table and I kid you not the first words out of her mouth as she points at my dd's birthmark is "WHAT's THAT?!" I couldn't believe it! She was so snobbish and rude. I was so taken aback that I didn't know how to respond. We try to be very positive about her birthmark and tell her it's her beauty mark and whatnot, but it's hard to make it seem like no big deal when a Disney character is pointing it out! ARGH!!!! We will never go back to 1900 because of that experience!

The ONLY bad character experience we ever had was with Donald at Chef Mickey - he had passed our tale while me and DD were st the buffet, so th waiter said he would make another visit to our table. We waited through our meal and then some more and then reminded the waiter - who seemed surprised that DOnald hadn't been back. Well, he went off and a minute later - here comes Donald - he walked up shook his head at us a couple of times, very quickly scibbled his name in Becky's autograph book and stormed off..we could tell he was angry!! I'm no sure Becky picked up on it, but I wonder if he got in trouble for not coming back to our table - or if he was just in a bad mood, whatever the reason, I was really shocked!

Limited release on November 11, 1992. Wide release November 25, 1992. :goodvibes

HAHA I was 4 years old when Aladdin came out! I remember seeing it in the theaters ( well I think like I said I was 4 and I'm 21 now) LOVE that movie!

I get soo annoyed with people who say that characters, parades, etc.. are JUST for the kids! I have my own children, I get it! BUT- I have paid alot to be there, as well as my hubby, and if we want the characters pic, etc.. we have every right to them.

So to all of you out there who think that the rest of should stand aside for your little one, book a trip to Universal Studios instead.

Another vote for Jasmine. Four years ago DW and DD had the pleasure of one snotty Jasmine. To this day DW still talks about how bad they were treated.

At MTOTP, Ariel totally ruined my love for her.
I don't know if it was because our Princess costumes offended her or it was because we were the last ones but she was all "Oh, you don't have to take a picture with me" and "okay now you can go" in a snobby, "chola" voice. She didn't have a sweet voice or anything. Now I haven't seen any Ariel since and I kind of don't want to see her anymore since she ruined the character for me. I'm scared of seeing her again :(

THIS IS THE MOST HYSTERICAL THREAT EVER!
I just hate when people wait on line and they take the character away
little Alice said "oh I need some tea" to 20 people tahy all wanted to smack her!
They should shut the line off at a certain point

Ours happened 2007 before the Candlelight Processional. We were eating at Garden Grill and one of the chipmunks (yes, I know the diff but I have no long term memory anymore...I have no clue if it was Chip or Dale ;) ) became enamored with my then 14 year old daughter. The restaurant was very busy, but the chipmunk kept coming back...over and over...and would make kissy motions, heart pitter patter, play with her hair, etc. and spend several mins with her each time. At about the 8th trip to the table, the other chipmunk came over and pretend fought with the first one for my daughter. At the 10th trip to our table the other chipmunk came over after several minutes and actually pulled the other away.....hard.....it didn't appear to be an act. It really creeped my daughter out.

The first few times we laughed and my other daughters egged it on......but it did become over the top and the other character noticed it and tried to stop it.

We were visiting Cinderella's step sister in the spot beside the castle in Magic Kingdom. My 6 yr old daughter was wearing her little Minnie Mouse style mary jane shoes with her Minnie mouse T shirt. the step -sisiters starting shreaking and screaming abot the mice on my daughters feet and shirt and scared my poor child to death. I twas actually pretty funny!!! (but not to her :( lollolol

back in 1978 at magic kingdom I was in second grade and I still have the picture of me and my brother with alice in wonderland and tweedle dee and tweedle dum and one of the tweedles actually pinched my neck and sholder really hard and it hurt bad and in the picture my mom took you can see the pain on my face it was such a long time ago but I will never forget not sure why he did that but even today I would not want to see the tweedles again. LOL

Oh, ok, I remember one. I was at Disney World for my 5th grade graduation (mom and daughter trip), and I had sunburned my shoulders (one of the few times I've ever burned). A bunch of the characters were out and dancing in a circle at MGM. Pinocchio pulled me into the ring and kind of threw his arm around my burned shoulders. I remember having tears in my eyes, but, even at 11, I didn't want to make him feel bad, so I just grinned and kept dancing.

Goofy at Chef Mickey's breakfast. I swear he was hungover. He just kind of walked by the table. I had to stop him for an autograph & picture. He was definitely dragging not interactive at all. We had a great Goofy at Chef Mickey's dinner the same week, so who knows! It was early (8AM) so maybe he just hadn't woken up!

Last Friday, Here in Disneyland, I went to say Goodbye to Naveen T^T and it wasn't MY Naveen lol
Thats not the bad thing..Tiana ruined that trip!
She must have been a last minute replacement because she did not know how to pose or interact with anyone. Naveen was the one talking to everyone.
and then it happened..she SMILED! GROSS GROSS! Her teeth were yellow all around and look like they were decaying >< Her gums were black too..Don't know what Disney was thinking..also she needed more make-up!

I will come to Aurora's (at least our Aurora's) defense. Meeting was in Epcot

She took time to talk to DD before and while signing

She pulled DS right into her lap

And DS's evidence of her affections (one of many prints from our trip)

We had this same Aurora in May. We met her in France and she was wonderful! She danced with DD and told DS he was very handsome. It was one of the best character interactions of our trip.

However... The Aurora we me at Akershus that same day was terrible. Completely dull and almost zombie-like.
