What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

I must have seen the same one! While he sounded like Peter, it was very creepy. My mom saw the picture after I had taken it and is a bit creeped out by it. It was an all around creepy experience. I said creepy three times, but if it's the same Peter, you'd understand. :rotfl:

is this him?? lol we went in august too. he was actually really sweet with my 3 yr old and she kept talking about him

I was starting to get really peeved, as DS3 was crying, I have 2 other kids standing there, and I have some ape running off with an autograph book.

OMG I laughed out loud at this picture!!

In January at 1900 Park Faire, Mary Poppins had a bit of an attitude with me. DH was taking a picture of me with her and she pushed my shoulders back and said "sit up straight it looks much better" to me. I was a little taken aback, and at a loss for words.

Gotta agree with others, this was in character, although it would startle me too.

Ok my turn-mine wasn't really a character issue but a location issue-we were hunting for the Beast-the time guide said France-ok we found the big glove sign a started waiting along with about 10 other people. Finally we all started nosing around only to find out the the character greeting sign was apparently for looks only the were by the lake, so now we all move down to the end of the line only to have them leave for a "short" break. They were great once they finally came back but we spent well over an hour on this little quest. On a side note-all Belle's are not created equal-this one, although perfectly in character, had to be about 40.

Similar experience: we say the sign and the times for Belle and Beast and they were not there (according to the sign they should've been). We looked around and even asked a few CM's from France. One CM asked at the perfume store and no one there knew. Apparently the signw as for show as B & B never did come out :(

I am surprised no one has mentioned the male Alice. We met him/her this year and that was tough to explain. DD had ridden the Tea Cups with a femail Alice the day before and then we saw the male one. DD wanted to go say hi to Alice again, so we did. The look on DD's face was priceless, she knew something was not right!! She still spoke to Alice and had her photo, but afterwards she asked what was wrong with Alice today. I answered she must be tired sweetie, everyone looks a little different when they are tired. Thank goodness she fell for it!!

Here are photos of him/her. The first is not very flattering, but you can see the male features.

I don't mean to start any arguments or cause any controversy, but you might want to think about how you would feel if someone questioned your femininity over the way you looked. Not all women look as feminine as others, not to mention there are lots of male-to-female transgender people who deserve the same respect and kindness as any other person.

Can you imagine how hurt this girl's feelings might be if they saw you calling them a "he/she" and questioning her gender identity?

And if that is in fact a male (which I honestly doubt) and not a woman/transwoman I would be very surprised. What are the chances of Disney hiring a boy to be such a public figure?

We took our daughter to WDW for the first time last November. She fears NOTHING so I wasn't all that worried with her meeting the characters. We met the fab 5, most princesses, the fairies, etc etc. Made our way over to Rafiki's planet watch and met Jiminy and Pocohantas without a problem. Typically she would bolt into their arms and give the biggest hug ever. Until we met Rafiki...

http://

For some reason she did NOT like him. Lion King is one of her favorites and she just can't bring herself to like him. We will be back in two weeks and I asked her last night if she wanted to meet him and she said NO!

I have a very similar photo with my Daughter and Rafiki! :lmao: I can see how he can be scary.

I had to share our story. We went to a character breakfast at I believe Downtown Disney (Fulton's Crabhouse??) back in 1990. My daughter was 11 months old. As we sat at a table near an aisle to another part of the restaurant, Minnie Mouse comes up to the table. My daughter is on my lap looking at her with big scared eyes. As soon as Minnie comes near her, she starts to get upset and clutches onto me. Minnie gets closer and my daughter starts to cry. My daughter calmed down when she turned to the other kids at the table and signed autographs. Minnie started to walk away, and then turned around and came back towards my daughter. My daughter started to scream and cry louder, digging her little fingers into my arms. Minnie then walked away, went around the corner and came back, making my daughter start up again. Do you know she did that a few times, playing a kind of hide and seek with my terrified daughter - to the amusement of the other diners, and I guess Minnie herself! I never saw my daughter so upset!

My daughter is 20 and still doesn't like Minnie Mouse - or any other character really. She is deathly afraid of clowns also (which we blame on Minnie), and wasn't amused when we bought into DVC at BWV.

Totally agree, that is not nice. The first pic may be unflattering but you can plainly tell in the second that it is a girl. Disney would never hire a male to play Alice, that is ridiculous. I am friends with a few characters and I know they would be upset to read something like this about themselves.:sad2:

i agree.

maybe the reason the daughter thought something was wrong with alice is because she looked different from the first one she'd met. i know that we've met princesses before who look nothing like the princess we've already met during our trip. we even have two very different belle signatures in one of our autograph books (both from the same trip).

Hi, OP of the post in question here.

I can say with all certainty from speaking with Alice and seeing him that it was a male Alice. There is no question in my mind.

I realize that you think it is not nice, but it was the truth and both DH and I will swear to it.

I have no problem with transgender characters, my OP was just that my DD noticed and I had to dodge some uncomfortable questions about why Alice appeared to look so different.

It was not posted to be mean, it was the truth.

Please do a search, there are several threads on the DIS regarding this male Alice. I am not the only one who has encountered him.

Unfortunately you are incorrect - I have seen her personally backstage and she is quite female (not transgender). Her natural hair color is not blonde and I agree it is unflattering, but in her natural form she is very beautiful.

However, Disney does have a responsibility to uphold the characters in their movie form and perhaps this is a situation where this performer should no longer be allowed to perform this character. I feel quite strongly about character integrity and am saddened whenever a character is unable to deliver magic for our guests.

I was traumatized by Tigger once many years ago at DHS. DH and I were just walking along, when suddenly I felt this big "tap" behind me...it was Tigger bouncing along and tapping my shoulders! I totally wasn't paying attenion and about had a heart attack. DH, who loves Tigger, thought it was hilarious.

:rotfl:That EXACT same thing happened to my wife. My wife walked past a door just as Tigger was coming out. She didn't see him so he just followed her through the restaurant. Tapped her on the shoulder, when she turned around she screamed bloody murder in the middle of the restaurant. I almost peed myself.

The horrible Disney Visa meet and greet in EC!!!! Waited one our for three families a head of us only to realize it is the same charaters you can meet anywhere in WDW!

Thank you for this information.

As stated earlier I am not the only one who has felt this way.

However, to avoid futher discussion on this I will delete the photos from my account so as not to harm anyone.

I can with all honesty state both DH and thought it was a male and until you clarified it for me, I believed it to be 100% true.

I am sorry, I cannot remember your name, but I have seen your posts on the Pirates' League thread and trust your information.

Again, the post was not meant to harm, it was the truth as I believed it (and others, I assure you).

Amy

Please remember that there is no 100% sure fire way to tell if someone is male or female unless you are looking at them naked, and even THEN you are only viewing what their anatomy says about their gender identity and not what their heart and soul says.

I appreciate you removing the photos, @mom2faith, and like I said before I did not want to cause any drama. I am just very aware of how hurtful it can be when someone questions your gender just because you don't look the way they think you're supposed to and when I feel that it's necessary I remind everyone of that.

Personally I didn't think this Alice looked male at all, but that is just my opinion. But please, consider the fact that Disney has hundreds of girls lining up to play Alice. They really have no need to hire a boy.

Also, I did in fact search the Disboards for "male Alice" and selected "show posts". Nothing is coming up other than your post on this board...so maybe the other people deleted their posts when they found out they too had been incorrect?

We were eating at Akershus and were seated right across from Belle who was doing the photos. In between kids, we saw her turn to the photographer w/ a scowl and say "I can't wait to be out of here".
I understand that they are human and like everyone else cannot wait for their shift at work to be over, but I don't think you should be saying loud enough that we can hear it at over 20 feet away.

When dd was 3, we went to BYBBQ. She had a great time, dancing with all of the characters. About half way through the event, she was standing facing Mickey but off to his side. I was preparing to take a picture when I saw his white gloved hand come down and whack her in the face. He never knew he hit her. Unfortunately, it knocked off her glasses, broke the plastic nose pad, and put a a gash down the entire length of her nose. We couldn't find anyone to help, so I put her in the stroller and we took the boat back to WL. As she got off the boat, she fell and got a huge splinter in her thumb. Then she really howled. We went to the desk so I could get antibiotic cream, a bandaid, and tweezers. The CM was very sweet with her, gave us the supplies, and then asked, "Who's your favorite character, honey?" My dd, with the gaspy sobs, said, "Not Mickey no more!" The CM went to the gift store and came back with a Goofy stuffed animal for her. I have a terrific pic of her in bed asleep and hugging the Goofy doll with the gash on her nose clearly visible. Rough night!

Three years later, dd remembers that Goofy doll and still asks, "why did Mickey break my glasses?"
