What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

DH did not like Peter Pan when we were there in March. Cannot remember the problem he had with him (he is in Atlanta on business at the moment) but the look DH is giving Peter

DH adding-
Peter made some type of comment (cannot remember what it was exactly) and I just gave him the look.
Out of the 76 characters we met during our visit, how perfect the CM's fit their characters, Peter just totally took the magic away during this meeting.
How I wish I could remember what he said.

They do. For 99% of the character meets, they hard close the lines (which means an attendant physically stands at the end of the line and announces it is closed). One of the few exceptions I can think of are the Power Rangers, where they soft close the lines (they keep announcing the character is leaving, but don't physically close off the line).

During our trip in last month in Epcot we met Aurora in France and my dd was less then impressed.

We saw her walking over to her photo spot and we were behind her and I heard her complaining to her handler but my dd did not hear the conversation. Once at the photo spot, my dd was the only child there. She quickly signed her book, didn't even comment on the special page I had made for her (every single other character did), and didn't have much of anything to say to my dd.

Afterwords my dd said.."mom, she was not friendly at all like all the other characters. It was like she really didn't want to be here!"

Then we saw Aurora (different girl) again in Pixie Hollow and she was wonderful.

The only thing my husband remembers about his trip to WDW when he was 3 was getting a haircut at the Barber Shop in MK and then Goofy messing up his hair. He was so mad about that (as a 3 year old). I mentioned it the other day and he said that he finally has forgiven Goofy. :)

Mine isn't necessarily bad, but when we went to DLP in 2001, there was a couple of villains (I think Cruella, Maleficent, Ursula and Jafar, not entirely sure) right inside the gate doing a meet and greet. I was deathly afraid of them at the time, but I somehow managed to get a picture with Ursula. We then left and as we were Maleficent stared straight at me giving me a stare of death.:scared1: I was seriously scared for the rest of the day.

All of our character interactions at WDW have been great, but at DLP when DS was 2, I was walking along Main Street when Jafar came up to us. DS was in his buggy, took one look at Jafar and started crying & hid his face in the buggy. Jafar seemed to think this was funny and stuck his face right next to DS who started to scream. I told him to go away which he seemed to think was REALLY funny and shouted to a couple of the other villains behind him to come over too. At this point I'm afraid I lost it and swore loudly at Jafar who finally took me seriously and backed off. I thought he was really cruel given that my son was clearly petrified of him.

only had two bad experiences. the first was when i was trying to take a picture of my family in the studios up against a railing with tigger and for no reason he punched my completly innocent son. the other time my small child was being chased through main street running for his life from an attacking pluto. thank goodness some lady grabbed my son before pluto was able to attack. i'm sure this is the first time anyone is hearing about this but I will try to post videos of both later

I'm sorry, but I don't think this is funny.

Peter kinda looks like Zac Efron

LOL @ your DH's face.

Our worst ever was at DHS several years ago when Little Einstein characters were at "trailers" on the street. Oldest DD wanted to see Annie, and EM told us Annie came out at 15 minute past the hour. We went to other rides and returned later in the afternoon. We found same CM who said Annie only appeared in morning hours. The CM was so smug about it.

Neither are real bad experiences, but just expierences that need to be shared lol.

2008, 1900 Park Fare @ GF and we kinda felt that Mary Poppins wasn't exactly english, like didn't have much of an accent really, at all. I can't remember exactly what kind but it wasn't english. Pic of Me, my fiancee (who I proposed to on this trip) and the Mary Poppins in question.

I think this is the same lady who played Belle during our visit in 2008. She played a great Belle, no accent required since the Belle in the movie doesn't really sound French anyways. :rotfl:

But yes I think if they are going to play a certain character they could at least try to fake an accent or whatever. We had the opposite problem on our trip this year, our Ariel at Akershus was eastern European and had a very deep voice with a thick accent. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against foreign people, but I did have to spend the rest of the night listening to my 4yo daughter ask over and over again why Ariel "sounded funny" lol. I told her she must have had a cold or something but that didn't seem like a good enough response to her I guess.

Also, that is a complete shame about the creepy PP. I'm pretty sure he's the one that played Peter in the castle show we saw and he was great! Maybe he just gets tired from performing? lol I have never understood why people take that particular job of meeting kids if they don't like doing it, certainly there are other CM jobs they could get? :confused3

Let's see, 2 other bad experiences, neither one the character's fault really. We had our first trip to DW in 1982, I was 7 and my little brother was 4. I don't know if maybe the mouse ears didn't have chin straps back then or something, but for whatever reason my mom bobby pinned them to our heads. The very first characters we met were from Robin Hood, the sherrif and prince john I believe. I think it was the prince who jokingly tried to remove my brother's ears and dance around with them. Of course since they were bobby pinned on it pulled my brother's hair pretty hard and he began screaming bloody murder, literally! The prince felt soooooo bad and tried to apologize but my brother was terrified, he wouldn't meet another character for the rest of the trip lol.

Second one was in 1990, I was 15 and the bad part is entirely my doing, in fact I'm totally embarrassed about retelling it! We had been at the world 3-4 days and I made the mistake of calling my then boyfriend of 9 months from a pay phone in Pleasure Island, and he decided that moment was the appropriate opportunity to dump me. He was my first boyfriend ever so I was in a horrible mood from then on and made life miserable for anyone in arms reach. I thought if I could get home I could somehow "fix" the situation, if we'd had cell phones back then I would have been on it every second lol! We were RV camping at FW and I figured if I was horrible enough we would just leave early, which we unfortunately did. (didn't help the situation with the bf of course :headache: lol) But anyway before we left we had gone to a character breakfast there in FW, where they do the hoop-de-do revue. I was refusing to go but my parents dragged me, so I sat there with my arms crossed and wouldn't eat or have any fun. Pluto, bless his little heart, came over and tried to cheer me up. He danced around me, licked me, etc. Finally I grabbed him by the tongue and pulled him really close to my face and said something like "If you come near me again I'm going to rip out this tongue and shove it up your....!" Well you get the point lol. He dropped his head and sulked away. I still feel guilty for being such a BRAT to my family and that poor Pluto, who probably quit his/her job that day lol... I doubt they get paid enough to put up with that stuff! My parents have since forgiven me and have thankfully come with me and my family on our trips to WDW. :goodvibes They of course don't let me live it down lol. Plus they remind me of how much trouble I'm in when DD4 becomes a teenager!! :scared1:

My DD's favorite character is Goofy. She was all decked out with her Goofy t-shirt on and one of those Goofy hats that look like his face with the big ears hanging down. She was waiting very patiently to see him at DHS and was in line for about 20 minutes when his handler swooped in and gave a balloon to the child in front of her and said that was the end of the line. I understand they have to stop it somewhere but couldn't they have ended it when they saw a certain amount of people at the end of the line and not let anyone else approach? She was devastated and started to cry.

When I took my solo trip last year I set out to collect 100 autographs for school. One day I was waiting in line to see Prince Caspian, there was this family of 6 in front of me and another family behind me. After waiting 10 minutes for this large family to finish I started to walk up to get his autograph when he stopped me (his greeter was busy trading pins) and said I needed to wait in line as the family behind me rushed up! After they left and it was my turn AGAIN I stood there until Prince Caspian "invited" me up, I just stood there and asked him if he was sure!! He looked so confused! so I told him that I actually waited in line for 30 minutes and that the family behind me butted... He looked so shocked. After getting his autograph he asked if I wanted my picture taken with him, I looked at him and said NO as I walked away.

The funniest and most embrassing moment had to be when my sisters and I took my niece Abby to meet the princesses. When we entered the room there was Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Belle. Abby got her picture taken with all but Belle. When it was her turn Abby looked up at me and infront of Belle she said "I don't like her she STUPID" and ran off. This comment didn't seem to faze Belle at all!!:lmao:

It wasn't the characters fault but the CM. We were at Liberty Tarvern (when they had characters) We were sitting at our table when we heard an ear piercing scream of a young child. We looked up to see Pluto stumbling backwards to sit on the step right behind us with his head in his hands. It was obvious that this child was terrified of him and Pluto was acting like his feelings were hurt. My 2 yr old jumped down from her chair and ran over and hugged him saying "It's ok. I love you Pluto" Pluto hugged her back and it was a sweet moment..till the CM came over and chastised us for not waiting for the character to come to our table. I know they don't want everyone rushing the characters but this waas such a spontaneous and magical moment and she (the CM ) really deflated that magical feeling.
Thankfully my little one didn't notice or care.

OK, this isn't bad so much as it was a little strange. It was one of the first family trips to Disneyland that I remember well. I was very excited about finally meeting Mickey (I was maybe 6?) On the airplane ride I drew a picture of Mickey and me hanging out together and when we got to MK I gave it to him. I was then pushed aside by another family, who came over and took a picture of their daughter alone with Mickey, holding MY PICTURE up for the camera!!!

Mickey and I never got the chance to talk about it then, but he did give me a hug when we met next a few years later. I'm sure he understood. ;)

LOL,:lmao:...I've seen the video of Pluto chasing the kid..pretty funny. As for the moronic teenager and his father who claimed Tigger punched him, the kid would have deserved it if Tigger went all pro-wrestler on his whiny, money grabbing butt.

At the Mk i was excited to see Peter Pan and Wendy...I had seen Peter before but never Wendy. We saw by the times guide what time they were meeting. This was back when they met by the POTC. We just happened to check our watch and it was in like 1 minute so we headed over there to see them. Well they must have been on their way because as we were walking they came skipping out between 2 buildings holding hands. I said to my friend "there they are" they both looked back at us and kept going for a moment. We followed. Then as we were still on our way to their meet n greet spot Wendy turned and said "STOP following us" and stuck her tounge out. Very nastily and sharp. I got my photo BUT l aways remember the day wendy was NASTY. I wanted to complain and SHOULD have. I hope she is long gone from WDW, and not by her choice. YES I am still bitter.....:goodvibes I have seen several nicer Wendy's since then.
