Mine was a a busboy at age 11 in a Chinese restaurant, or a DJ at a local catering hall that held teen dances.... I did them both but not sure which I started first.

My first job was working at a local amusement park (Valleyfair). I was 16, turning 17 a month later.

I worked at a beef/hot dog joint. Gave all my high school friends food for practically free! It was a fun job. And the weird thing is my mom goes there once in a while and the owner still asks about me! It's been 19 yrs!!!! :teeth:

Tax Free? Babysitting...but at 15 worked for Red Lobster...I will never, EVER eat at one...E-V-E-R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I am going to be 44 this summer, that is a long time to not do something...moved on to retail after food.

Hated it, but my grandfather owned a string of hardware stores and I was *forced* AGAINST MY WILL to work in some of them each summer. This began when I was around 12 and was, supposedly, to help keep me out of trouble. I was a bad, *BAD* kid and my family really did have a hard time with me. Anyway, this continued until I was 16 and caused soooo much trouble at the stores that it was decided I should not be there any longer. I was FIRED, darn it....by my own grandfather! :lmao:

A tobacco farm. We used to tie it, carry it and sew it. Then a pizza restaurant. I would go home every night smelling like pizza. After that a donut shop. I couldn't eat donuts for years afterwards.

The Golden Arches !!!! :thumbsup2 "Would you like fries with that?" :teeth:

I was a busgirl when I was 15. It was at a Brown Derby in a small town in Illinois.

At age 15,,worked on Sat & Sun. at a concession stand selling Hot dogs and cokes, popcorn, chips...at MIAMI MARINE STATIUM.. durning those HUGE power boat races,,durning the day,,,and at night events we had concerts of all types....got to meet Sammy Davis Jr,,,Mitch Miller, (no big deal for ME at age 15) but when RARE EARTH came to town :rockband: ...oh I was in Heaven as a young girl!!!!!!! :woohoo: And then there was Steppen Wolf- :hippie: ---need I say..GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING>>>>>> :moped: :moped:
That was the BEST JOB ever :thumbsup2

THANKS for the memories!!! :teeth:

o.k.-probably babysitting (back in the days of maybe 50 cents per hour), then once picking up walnuts at an orchard with friends (so much per bucket). first "real paying" job-at a music store/music instructional studio i took voice lessons at. the good/bad thing about it was the owner never made much money running it so the office staff was not paid on a regular basis-so when i quit in my senior year of high school he still owed me enough back wages to get a paycheck a month through my first first year of college.

It sounds like we must have babysat at around the same time. I got paid 50 cents per hour too.

My first "real" job was my freshman year of college working as a cashier/asst. bkpr. in a grocery store.

My parents owned a grocery shop and when I was very young gave sweets away thinking I was 'selling' them! No surprise the business just ticked over.
My first paid job was working Saturdays in a toyshop aged 16 for £4.00 per day (what's that in $ - about $6.50 I think).

Babysitting (another 50 cents per hour veteran here!)

First 'real' job was in a bank, checking loan applications. I worked all summer, and made $2 an hour!

Apart from babysitting from age 11, I started working at a gas station when I was 14.

babysitting and delivering newspapers (when kids still did it)...after that McD's, retail...

man...I've been working since I was 12 years old!!!

Is it time to RETIRE yet?!?!?!

My father was a veterinarian and I worked for him after school and during the summers. I love being around animals so this was a perfect job for me.

At age 12-13 I had a regular gig baby sitting for a couple at church when they had their weekly bowling league. Did a newspaper route from 14-15, started working at Hechinger at 16 and stayed after high school (summers home from college, then bookkeeping on weekends) until I was 24.

I worked at Stockings to Stuf at the mall during Christmas writing names on Christmas stockings. :)
