What was YOUR first job?

I was an assistant Sunday nursery attendant at a young age. I loved playing with the toddlers!

My first real day-to-day job was as a teacher in the baby room of a local day care when I was a Senior in high school. I was taking a child care class and got out of school a little early to work. The best thing was that I got high school credit AND I got paid. I loved working there so much that I continued to work for them through college.

Other than paper routes, my first job was at a KFC. In the late 60's to 70's, there were several KFC's that were attached to sit down restaraunts. I worked at one of those in Fort Wayne, IN. Fried Chicken, Bussed Tables, Washed Diskes, Delivered Catering, whatever was needed. Horrible job. But it put gas in my 67 Bel Aire (30 cents a gallon at the full serve ;)) and paid for dates......:D

Fun thread!

I worked at the roller rink - it was the local high school hangout at the time and I started at age 15 - so I got paid for being where I would have been hanging out anyway. My boss was very easy - I spent many hours getting paid for skating with my friends!

Now I have a DD who just started HER first job at age 15. She coaches gymnastics - she's where she loves to be... and it's great to see a little return on our investment in her gymnastics training over the years. She best be saving most of that $$ for college expenses!

I was a cashier at a grocery store (Tops) for about a year. I used to dread seeing frozen turkeys, 25-pound bags of dog food, and cases of pop/beer – because everything had to come out of the carts. (My poor, aching back!) Although I did learn the names of lots of fruits and veggies I’d never even heard of or seen before, I also learned that I didn’t want to do that for the rest of my life.
