We always do the Dining Plan, but never gain any weight.
I don't weigh the entire family, but I have never gained weight while staying at Disney. In fact, I usually loose around 3 to 5 pound. By the way, we always do the dining plan too.

With all of the walking I just don't know why folks would gain weight. Maybe everybody just doesn't walk as much as we do. My oldest daughter wore a pedometer last time we went and we averaged 10 miles per day. One day we did about 14 miles. I'm walking on my tread mill twice a day trying to get ready for our upcoming trip in 28 days.

OP, can you add a 0 pounds or lost weight option to the poll?

We also gain 0 from all of the walking. My husband, an avid runner who loves to eat, gets up early to run a few miles before walking all over the parks. My son and I never seem to gain. We tend to get the standard dining plan with 1 snack, 1cs, and 1 ts. If we got the deluxe plan, I'm pretty sure we'd pack on a few pounds.

I think my high in over 10 trips was 9 pounds.

Of course there is some background to that large of a gain. First is weighing in the morning vs. the evening on return (I'll usually be at least 3 pounds heavier in the evening than the morning). The other item, and probably even more profound, is the salt intake and resulting water retention from eating at WDW. So where I might be 9 pounds up when I return, 2 days later I was probably only 3-4 pounds up. That's still a lot of weight to gain in a week, but I've really gorged myself with double to triple my normal calorie intake for a week. And 1pound is equivalent to roughly 3,500 calories.

I don't think it was really "weight" more than water with me. Because once I got home and ate my normal stuff, it came off awful fast. :worship:

I'll often be up a few pounds the day after we arrive home from water retention. Within 2-3 days of being back home and eating normally, I'm usually back where I was before we left.

I did an early December trip in the middle of a weight loss project last year. My weight ranged between 146 and 150 for the week before we left. The morning after we arrived home I was at 146, and the week following that ranged between 141 and 144. And I ate whatever I wanted while we were there.

In 2007, we were there for free dining, and I ate like crazy - and I lost 4 pounds! That was more to do with being the Fast pass runner for the family...I know i did two complete loops of AK in about an hour 1 day.

Last trip, I had a foot injury and couldn't walk as much - gained about 2-3 pounds. I think it is extremely hard to gain more than 3-4 pounds in one week, at least in weight that "stays" with you...a salty diet can make the weight gain seem like more at first.

What about the "lost weight" option? Seriously, without knowing my 13 and 7 YO's weights after, DH and I actually lost 5 lbs total. We did a TS meal all but one day and did CS daily too, but the constant motion actually took it off of us. And that was a good thing for me ;)

I clicked "1-2" -- but really my family doesn't really gain weight. We do so much walking that we just walk off anything we eat. :) 'Course DH & I could stand to lose a few lbs, we just don't want to get any fatter on vacation!:upsidedow
Same here... Usually, we eat pretty well but never gain weight. We'll eat breakfast in, lunch counter service & sitdown dinner.

i weighed myself before and after and didnt gain anything. i think it's because of all the walking, excitement, and staying up way later than i'm used to.

This past trip I was <and still am> pregnant with #2!:lovestruc I thought I was going to gain a ton but to my surprise I gained nothing! I had a dr's appt the day after we got back! Woohoo...I thought it was pretty impressive for a pregnant lady. Although Im not a fan of sweets I did have my fair share of dole whips!

Our last big trip (we were actually in orlando 9 days, off-site 3 days) I lost 6 pounds just from walking. We were on the dining plan, but often shared 2 CS meals among the 4 of us.

I always lose weight. During summer it's always drastic (5-10) but I'm sure that's just water weight from sweating so much.

We always walk a ton while we are there, but all of the wonderful food and alcoholic beverages puts a few pounds on us. We each usually gain roughly 5 pounds.

We eat way too much food and way too much fudge at WDW but we have solved the problem of weight gain by just hiding all of the scales when we return.:rotfl2:

I can't vote. I LOST weight :woohoo: . Yes that's right, I Lost weight. We were there for 21 nights and I lost so much that I actually couldn't wear a couple of pairs of my shorts by the end of the trip as they got too big. I think it was all of the walking around the parks and back to the hotel. Staying at AKL and our room was the very last room at the end of the hall so it was a long hike.

Anyway, I still ate a lot too, we ate at least two table service meals a day, sometimes 3, but did lose. Everyone else in the family stayed about the same. That was in April/May this year and I have not put it back on either :woohoo: .

:lmao:

We never gain weight...We eat as much as we want and lots of treats that maybe should stay away from...But we never gain weight because we are walking so much and go all day and night...We always get the basic dining plan and that is about how much we eat..You may get one or two extra snacks or special treats...But if we stick to the two meals and one snack, including what ever we want...We are the same size when we get home.

I think I may hold the record in this category. I gained 14lbs!!!!!!!!!!! OMG

I was coming off of a 20loss on a low carb diet and straight to the dining plan (1st year of the DP with the huge portions and aps).

Last trip I think it was around 4 pounds though.

I'm a bigger girl and definitely an "easy keeper", but I swear I lose about 10 lbs when I get home from Disney. We eat whatever we want to, within reason of course, and I always come home noticeably thinner. I call it my Disney Diet Plan. I know bouncing around at Typhoon Lagoon and all the walking is what does it.
