We're flying into Orlando the Tues. prior to Thanksgiving, heading to VB until Sat., then heading to BCV through Fri. 12/6. Any suggestions on car rental ideas...what worked for you, etc.
We were at VB the first week in July and rented at National for the week. The rate was $185 for 7 days. We were at VB for 4 days then went up to OKW for 3 days. We are Emarald Aisle members also. We got off the plane with our carry-ons and were on 528 East (Beeline) in our rental in 10 minutes. VB is about 1 1/2 hours(100 miles) from Orlando's airport.
Just rent it at MCO and drive to Vero, then back to BCV and return it to MCO on your way home. MCO is the cheapest place to rent from. If you have the DC discount, go thru National. We have AAA and Sam's club and other discounts also and every time National and DC are the best combo. You may want to do all your homework on this one ASAP as that is a REALLY popular time and car prices will be higher the longer you wait. I would find your best price and make a reservation and keep checking, because you may get a better rate along the way. There are no penalties if you cancel a day or 2 before so it won't hurt to do it now. Directions were easy to follow. They are right on the back of the "WDW transportation guide and map" if you have one from a previous trip.
Rental car rates have skyrocketed since 9/11 in Orlando. I would suggest doing one of the search engines (Travelocity, Expedia) to identify which companies have the best rates, then go to the company sites to apply coupons and discounts. Currently Thrifty appears to be the lowest "big" name rental company. Good luck!
I am wondering if you could rent your car from National at MCO and then drop it off at the Dolphin without any additional drop charges? The Dolphin is just a hop, skip and jump away from BCV.... Or, are you planning to keep your rental car the whole time?

thanks for all the info; we're still not sure on whether or not we'll need the car during our BCV stay....dh and I have an annual pass to Universal - so the plan was to get passes for the kids and go there. But, as much fun as the coasters were there, it just wasn't Disney! We're rethinking that plan and may decide to get some hoppers - we've had annuals to Disney in the past so we're newbies to purchasing tickets to WDW parks...another thing to look into.
I'll print out this info and see what we can come up with! Thanks
