The Updated and All-Inclusive Costume Thread

DS16 wants to go as wilderness exploders (he's almost an eagle scout an it speaks to him) I'm thinking Brown running shorts and yellow running shirts (maybe easy enough but I haven't looked) a sash and hat.

or do I do a more "authentic" look with a shirt that has a badge but isn't a running shirt. .
I think this is going to depend on the distance of the race and your proclivity to chafing

There are also sublimated print shirts on athletic material, like Kawaiian Pizza Apparel makes. I've worn these for several races and they are pretty comfortable and look good in person.

If we can find the helmet, I think we may have figured out the basics for our family 5k costume. DH and I agreed that *we* would pick it out (or DD will just keep fixating on elsa or moana) and started talking about how it's the Pluto race, with a sci-fi angle. So naturally, you think of star wars. But make it Fab 5! Because: MW.

Back in one of our first family trips to Disney (2015) our nephew got the mickey/vader helmet. (Modeled below by Buzz Lightyear in one of the best character interactions we've been a part of.)

How cute would it be to put DD in that helmet, add a red light-up bow (to make it Minnie) and the this Darth Vader dress?

Bonus points for a "legal sized" red lightsaber. I think the helmet would really be the extra oomph for the costume, but in the event that SIL can't find it, an ear headband could be substituted.

And that just leaves me to figure out something for myself and DH.
Daisy/Rey?
Donald/Storm Trooper?
Mickey/Obi Wan?
______/C3-PO? (I have found a couple of ink n burn shirts for this with a quick search)
Something else?

Love it!!

Back in the day during Star Wars Weekends, the Fab Four would dress up as Star Wars characters. Mickey was a Jedi, Minnie was Leia, Goofy was Vader, and Donald was a Stormtrooper. (I think also Maul at some point, but I only saw him as a trooper.) So I think your ideas work! I think you and your husband being a Jedi/stormtrooper would probably be the most recognizable. And then whoever is the Jedi could be "running away" from Vader and the trooper. :D

Can you add some polka dots to the skirt?

Also back in the day they used to sell action figures, mickey as luke, Minnie Leia chip and dale as ewoks. I used to buy one or two each time I went to the parks. 1754063307175.jpeg
I was always surprised goofy was Darth Vader, but I guess because of his height?
