and.. did it set your expectations for all the other resorts?

I think the first resort you ever stay at definitly leaves an impression and adoration in your mind for that particular one, but have you experienced a resort and resort experience more magical than your first time?

Wilderness Lodge was my first resort.. and to be quite honest, yes it has set some expectations. I ADORED the WL and I am afraid I will not like the other ones as much!

Our first onsite resort was on our Honeymoon 10 years ago (gona be 11 in Sept):)
And we had no expectations and LOVED the trip!! We stayed 3 nights at Carribean and 2 nights Port Orleans.
The next year we went and did not like Carribean bch as much so we switched hotels the only hotel available was the Beach club and we fell in LOVE!!!!!! :)
We have stayed at almost all the hotels onsite And We keep comming back to the Yacht and Beach!:)

BWI, now I'm spoiled forever. Not only me but my family, especially DD8. She loved the day bed and the balcony. Someone on these boards once described the decor as "garish" (I guess the mixture of patterns between the drapes and the bedspreads)but we found it charming.

Our next trip was All Stars Music. It was fine for a quickie trip (3 nights), we stayed in the parks and at the quiet pool mostly, but our room was still pleasant and clean to shower and sleep in. I would not plan a resort only day there, whereas we wished we had more time at BWI (6 nights) to hang around the resort.

We're trying AKL and Dolphin next-unless we get a good code for BWI. :)

Our first on-site resort was '94 the BC which was wonderful! Our first trip together was in '93 and we stayed off-site because we didn't know any better. We had both been many times as kids and that was when there was only MK so our parents always stayed off-site. My how things have changed. Our next trip is #12 and we are staying at CSR for the first time and we are excited. We have a goal to eventually give them all a try. So far we have made it to BC, YC, the allstars a bunch, BWI, CBR, DL. Its fun to try something new and we tend to like the mods because of the all around transportation. They are all wonderful just different. :p

First stay on-site in 1978 was Contemporary Resort. It met and surpassed all expectations. It remains my sentimental favorite today.

However, I haven fallen in love with the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. We just returned from a magical stay at the Swan / we were at the Dolphin last summer.

My first on-site visit was in 98 at then Dixie Landings in one of the mansions. We have a family condo in Cocoa Beach so we had never stayed on site before. I vowed to never stay off site again. It's a Magical trip when you stay at a Disney Resort. Plus you don't have that hours drive to and from.

We now stay on property when we are visiting Disney sometimes only for 3-4 nights. Enought to get that Disney fix before we hit the beach.

My first on-site stay was in 1986 at the Disney Vacation Villas. We had a one bedroom and it was great.

That resort later became the Disney Institute and has now been torn down to make room for Sararoga Springs. I will remember it forever and I'm glad we got to stay there.

1999, Dixie Landings. And we loved it. Had nothing to compare it to. Stayed there again and it will always be a sentimental favorite for me. Will be trying the Polynesian next.

The Poly in 1982. Sigh........ We were like little kids.

It was very special to us for quite a few years, but as new ones were built we've stayed at most of them and love the variety. The first time we walked into WL we knew this was just right for us and eventually purchased DVC there.

My first stay in a resort was Port Orleans prior to the switch over to "P.O. French Quarter". I thought it was awesome. However, nothing could prepare me for the Wilderness Lodge. Now all stays are compared to WL and fear our upcoming stay at CSR might get judged in comparison to WL instead of on it's own merit.

For us, nothing beats the WL!

I know exactly where I stayed for my first trip to WDW since I found all the paperwork in one of my father's old trunks:

Contemporary Resort Hotel
Arrived November 22, 1975 for 5 Nights
Party of 5 / Adults (2) - Children (3) : Ages 9,8,6

Magic Kingdom Club Vacation-75
Vacation Plan Total: $429.48 (wow!!)

Per the Identification Cards I found we stayed in:
Room # 4111

I stayed at the Polynesian in October 1991 for my Honeymoon and have stayed there every trip since. LOVE IT!

1984 at the Vacation Villas.
You could rent a golf cart and drive to Disney Village aka Downtown Disney. Does any one remember the paper passports they used to stamp with the date as you entered the park and you tied it to something you were wearing to have it showing all the time?

The first time I stayed in the park was DXL. it was only open for 2 months, cost $79.00 a night and I loved it. I have stayed there since and still love it but spoiled by staying at the deluxe hotels so now there is no going back:D

our 1st trip was a stay at ASMovies, we loved it there and were just in awe of our whole disney experience. we were in the parks from dawn to dusk and kept commenting on why anyone would spend anymore on a room we only slept :D LOL
our 2nd trip was spent at CSR because by then i had learned all about the special codes;) and spent the same as the 1st trip so thought we'd give it a try just once:rolleyes:
i went for a solo trip this year and stayed at AKL and CSR. again, got a very good deal with AP rates and must admit, while there is nothing wrong with asmovies i find that now that i have been a couple of times i do have time to enjoy the resort as well. I would not hesitate to go back to CSR or AKL again, but this year we are trying out WL for our 1st xmas trip. sure hope AP rates come out for the time we're there

My first resort stay was Dixie Landings. Have stayed there at least 2 to 3 times a year since. We do have wonderful memories and DL will always be a favorite. Have also stayed at all the All Stars, WL at least 3 times our other favorite and AKL.

DL is sentimenal (sp) for alot of reasons one is it is where we took ds at 3 weeks old.

We are going back in a couple of weeks. Yippee:bounce: :Pinkbounc

First time onsite was GF main building concierge, and yes it did ruin all other resorts for me after that. ;) But since then I've found I also love YC, Poly, and OKW. :)

Our first on site visit was CBR and boy were we impressed since we had never stayed on site before. The next trip was BW (rented points from DVC) and loved it even more. Last year we split our stay between POR and YC. POR was nice but couldn't compare to the deloxe's. This year we are trying WL. I'm sure (IMO) it will not live up to the YC (which is definately my favorite) but it is a different resort and I will be just as happy cause I am in Disney.

First on-site resort was GF, lagoon with a view of Cinderella's Castle. We had stayed off site before and always said we would stay at he GF if we could....spent our 25th anniversary there! It was fabulous, and we were hooked:D

Our first on-site resort was Caribbean Beach and it exceeded our expectations. I was scared before we went, thinking it was going to be WAY too spread out, but it wasn't, it was GREAT! :) We also stayed at the Grand Floridian during our first on-site trip and that was great too. We had a room with a view of the entire lagoon, including the castle :)

Staying at the GF did not spoil us forever though. On our next trip we stayed at CBR again and LOVED it more than the first time. :)
