What was Disney thinking??!

The attraction Stitch & I don't get along! :sad2:

Thankfully we FP'd it because I was NOT going to stand in line for it. I really didn't want to go in and had researched it.

My 8 year old (at the time) wanted to go so badly. I TRIED to talk him out of it, I even told him WHAT was going to happen specifically and he still wanted to go. Now, normally I would think I knew what was best but you never know because previously they had loved some things I wasn't so sure how they would do. That was a huge mistake to take him there. He refused to go into anything he could not SEE beforehand after that (which pretty much means missing a lot of rides!). He had to be talked into going on Spaceship Earth by the CM's after our Stitch encounter. :rotfl: BEFORE he saw Stitch, we had done several different rides in the parks that you couldn't see before getting in line without a peep from him. After it was awful.

HOWEVER, in the end DS still likes Stitch himself :stitch: (even bought Stitch ears and that was AFTER the ride!).

My 11 year old thought it was OK. I could take it or leave it. If I were with someone who wanted to go on it, I would be fine with going but not waiting in a long line for it! I honestly didn't get the whole effect anyway because I was sitting forward/sideways basically talking DS through everything since I knew he was not being happy but at least he didn't start freaking out on me DURING the attraction, so didn't ruin it for anyone else.

I know we probably won't be going back on that though.

I went on the AE with my son and it scared the lights out of him... he likes Sci-Fi, but that was a little too much, so when they changed it to Stitch... he did not want to go back, but my daughter loves stitch and wanted to try it... she liked it (of course she was 4 at the time) ha! ha! but it's not bad, bad, but this not one of my fav... I go in it for my kids. When I go to Disney it's to have fun and experience things with my kids, even the things that seems not as exciting as others... we share what the other members of the family want to do... and have a great time.

Chiming in - it was truly awful. My two girls LOVE Stitch (6 and 9) - the even got stuffed Stitch animals when we were there. ONly my 9 yo would go on this. I just thought it was so weird and boring - when it ended, I was thinking - was that it? It was really, really dumb. My daughter thought it was awful - and said she'd never go on it again (and she's a thrill ride junkie) - I can't believe it's a fast pass ride! We waited about 2 minutes for it our last night.

My 5yr DD and 10yr DS said that it was a very lame attraction and my DS says that was definately not a ride. I did not care for it at all and I was the one who stitch hocked a big loogy on. I knew I should have been concerned when I sat down and my seet was wet and none of the rest of my families were. :confused3

It's not my favorite attraction, but I didn't hate it either!
DS wants to do it every time we go to MK. Doesn't bother me. :confused3

But then, I really like Stitch so??

I just don't get why everyone hates it so much. :confused3

I didn't think it was quite as bad as some are portraying it. I mean, it wasn't the best attraction I've witnessed before, but at the same time I likely wouldn't spend over 15 minutes waiting in line in order to experience it again either. To each his own, though! :sunny:

DH and I are in the minority... we both enjoy the attraction. We think the ruffling of hair, I want to be your friend are cute. DH often refers to Stitch sneezing!

It never was Mission to Mars.

Actually it was Mission to Mars before it was Alien Encounter! We're talking years ago though! My dad always tells me when he was "younger" (I'm not sure what age we are talking) he liked Mission to Mars, but couldn't understand why my grandmother was there when they got out (how did she get to Mars!) :confused3 :rotfl2:

I loved Stitch when we were there in May. We even did it 3 times. I swear, the chilly dog had me laughing so hard I was in tears. The effects were really nice and the bit of story it's got was simple and fun. My girlfriend liked it too but had to cover her nose and mouth for the burps :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I got spit right in the face the last time through. :P: :grouphug:

Oh well, to each his own. :moped: :moped: :moped:

I enjoyed AE...but it gets less fun the more you ride it. It's the only ride I've been on at Disney that loses it's magic the more you ride it. Wonder why that was? :confused3
I loved Skippy and have several stuffies and beanies. Is he still in the preshow? We'll probably give the refurb. a try just to see the differences.

MY kids don't like it! Not scared of it- just think it's lame. Even my son was only mildly amused- only by the "stinky" part. LOL And that's only the little boy humor coming out in him.

Keep in mind that my eldest is a MAJOR stitch fan. She just thought for sure she'd love this attraction more than any other- even she thought it was lame. She's a major stitch fan- that's the only character she wants to buy stuff of and she was even Stitch last year for Halloween. She's now 12 and still can't get enough of Stitch. But the last time we were there she was like eh, no thanks when we mentioned going on this attraction as we passed by it a few times. She'd rather look at Stitch stuff in the stores (or do other attractions or rides) than go do this. :rotfl:

Went on in March for the first and probably last time. We were not impressed at all.

We waited 45 minutes standing in the hot sun to see this. We were so excited that we were getting to do it during the soft opening. When we came out, DH said, "That's it?" The kids thought it was lame - and it was. We've never been back.

Our family LOVES the Stitch attraction! No... it is NOT intended to be a 'ride'. IMHO, it is a good re-use of the existing theatre, that is more fitting to MK (in terms of content) than AE was.

The Stitch animatronic is quite impressive. And if you've seen the movie, then you really shouldn't have any trouble following the plot. Stitch is transported in, figures out how to disable the containment system, and escapes. Unlike the former alien resident, at least he is silly and playful once on the loose (as oppossed to threatening and violent).

It's not an in depth show like FOLK, or a thrill ride like SM, but then it's not meant to be. There are lots of different types of attractions at WDW, and no one is going to enjoy ALL of them. If ya try it once, and don't care for it, then no need to go back. You couldn't drag me onto TOT, for example--I dislike the feeling of falling, and know those repeated drops would be absolutely awful for me. Some of us actually do enjoy Stitch, though (went on it three times during our last visit).

The crowds never lie. Alien Encounter at least was an original attraction which brought in thrill seeking teens and always (at least when I went) a decent sized wait because it was a quality original attraction, even if the little ones didn't like it, they already have the whole of fantasyland to keep them occupied, while what is there for the teenage public to do? Space Mountain, Big thunder mountain, possibly Splash Mountain and thats it, does this reflect value for there money? but thats a different matter. SGE sucks and should be ripped apart and Alien Encounter should be brought back or possibly an Alien Encounter scary dark ride, that would be cool. Anythings better then SGE

I agree! I really liked AE and having Tim Curry "voice" the alien was awesome!

Does the attraction go dark, like AE did? Would a 2 1/2 year old be terrified or is there a restriction on that age anyway? (AE scared my older daughter to tears!!! when it went dark!!)
