What type of clothes to "fit the rides"?

I have read a couple different posts mentioning this. I'm overweight, no hiding it. I'm an 18/20, 5'9", and I'm usually an xl top for the most part. But I carry my weight all over. Some people said to wear clothes that "suck you in", and others have said loose clothing so your weight is more distributed in the seat. What is the best way to do it? I'm trying not to panic about not fitting, and going in with an open mind. Should I wear my workout gear and a minimizing bra? Or just wear my normal clothes that don't give me an insane muffin top? Help!!

Wear what you are comfortable in. You will be fine.

agreed, dress comfortably. There may be a few rides you will have an issue with (Hulk for instance, but I believe it's rows 3 and 6 that allow for extra room and the crew will help with your seat belt. One ride you may not be able to ride depending on how overweight is Forbidden Journey.

I actually rode everything just fine about 4 1/2 years ago, but was in the modified seats of the hulk and FJ. I'm the same sz now, just about 10lbs heavier :/ which is why I'm nervous. Trying my damnedest to lose more before our tip but I am not doing well

Most people report to wear looser clothing so that your body can mould to the seats better.

A taller 18/20 shouldn't have any troubles at all. I was a short 22 and rode everything I wanted (and a few I didn't want to). (I was in modified seats)

That said, wear soft moveable clothes. Let the ride compress you, not the clothing.

i'm 5'6, wear a size 18/20 and weigh about 210lbs.
my weight is distributed fairly evening with some extra weight in the chest.
i have never had an issue fitting on rides.
i would NOT suggest wearing something like shape wear or compression clothing into a theme park!
just wear normal clothes.
you're worrying over nothing if you think you won't fit in a ride. universal/disney are known for ample amount of space in their ride seats.

Thanks ladies! I'm feeling a lot better now. I'm still trying to eat better before we leave so I slim down a bit, but glad to know it won't be too bad! I may have to do a bit of shopping though to find some capris that are more loose.

Well, Disney is known for it, but Universal is not. There are many people who cannot ride many things at Universal when they can ride everything at Disney.

It's just that the OP's stats (and yours) mean that there's likely nothing to worry about. Up a few sizes and there IS something to worry about at Uni.

when compared to cedar fair and six flags parks universal is known for having more space.

That is true, but that does not mean it is accurate to say that the OP (or anyone else) should not worry about it. Particularly concerning is lumping Disney and Universal together -- they are not comparable. There have been plenty of posts here from people who say they fit on every ride at WDW but could fit on NONE of the major rides at Universal.

Just want to clear that up for people who search the boards in the future. You may have something to worry about, but there are lots of threads where people post their stats and their experiences that will give you an idea of what you will face.

Another vote for comfortable clothing. Also don't wear anything that adds bulk to your larger areas...I'm very hippy so I always wear shorts with slim pockets and no extra fabric like yoga pant material or dry fit. Try those test seats and have a grat time. I was bigger than you last time I went and could ride everything.

Ah, I know nothing about those places and they weren't mentioned. You lumped Disney and Uni together, and they just can't be on this subject.

'zactly.

I really don't want to wear my yoga capris the whole time if I can help it. I'm having a hard time finding appropriate bottoms now ugh. Old navy doesn't even really have anything I could use. I have denim capris and some lightweight cargo roll up pants, but not much else unless you count my yoga capris.

what were you going to wear that you now don't have anything to wear?

Oh denim capris and shorts, but I can see now that isn't the greatest idea. I just don't want to wear my workout gear the whole time lol. I have a lot of junk in the trunk, so while the denim fits me every day, they won't be good for the rides. I can wear a couple of my cargo capris. I just want to be comfortable!

not sure why you would think that denim is not good for going on rides.
wearing denim capris vs yoga capris is unlikely going to make any difference as to whether you can fit your tush in a seat or not.
as i said before wear NORMAL clothes.
if your normal is jean capris then wear them.

Because everyone else has said to wear clothes that will allow your body to mold to the seat. Denim doesn't do that well at all, it doesn't have much give to it.
