We're leaving for WDW on Nov. 27th (13 days!!!!). This is our first trip. It will be me, my dh and my two dds, ages 5 and 8.

I would like suggestions as to what to bring on the plane in our carry-on bags, aside from activities for the girls. Is it recommended to bring swimsuits, a change of clothes, makeup and toiletries? We will be arriving at about 11:30 am.

Also, what is recommended to bring with us during our visits to the park? Should I just carry my rather large handbag and stuff it with things or is it best to get a waterproof backpack? What should we make sure we bring other than our camera?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Absolutely bring any meds, toiletries, etc. We always bring a change of clothes in our carry on, along with some snacks. I also pack our bathing suits, suntan lotion, flip flops in a separate beach bag inside our carry on bag. This way, when we arrive at our resort, we don't have to search through the bag. If we hit the pool before our room is ready, we have everything we need.

If you're taking DME, your luggage may not meet up with you until hours later, so make sure you have what you need for those hours.

Check this web site for carry-on restrictions. They have limits to toiletries that you can take in a carry-on. (Restrictions could changes.)

I would pack what you have listed plus meds and things you might need at the Parks. As posted before...it does take some while for your luggage to make it to the rooms if using ME.

Here is the link to the ultimate packing list..it is a Godsend :)

Hope this helps :wave2:

Thanks for the advice on what to bring on the airplane - but what should be bring to the parks - and in what type(s) of bags - backpack, fanny pack??

Thanks!

Definitly the swim suits ect. room may not be ready and at least you can swim and have lunch.

For the girls on the plane I would pack suckers I always pack suckers and snacks that keep them busy. small pocket sized games are always good too.
Good luck have a great trip!

That ultimate packing list that the poster mentioned includes a list of what to pack for the parks. I would look at that list to see how much you want to carry, and then pick a bag from there.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the fanny pack. Here are some personal bags that you might want to check out for valuables (money, tickets, camera, etc.) I would look for a bag that you don't mind keeping on your person most of the time. (I have the Overland Equipment Donner and Placer, but I've only seen the Baggallini in a store.)

Baggallini

Overland Equipment Placer (It is small and good for valuables if you don't mind carrying a second bag for non-valuables. For example, I'm carrying this and a diaper bag for non-valuables.)

Overland Equipment Donner (If you only want to carry one bag, this could work for you. It could hold 2 water bottles, changes of clothes for your kids, and your valuables.)

With the messenger style bags, like the Donner and Placer, you could get on rides without taking the bag off. A backpack is another option, but most people prefer one over the other. Backpacks can carry a lot of stuff, too, but some people find them uncomfortable.

I hope that gives you a place to start!

Thanks so much for all of the advice. I'll definitely check out those bags - although I'm not sure if I have time to order any online since we're leaving in less than two weeks!!! Yikes!!

Don't forget that there are lockers at the parks. You could always just put essentials in a fanny pack to carry around and leave sweaters, extra snacks, sunscreen, etc in the locker until you need it. :thumbsup2
