what to say to characters

My 5 year old son can be a little shy so some things I have said to the characters to get some interaction started for him

Goofy- Asked him how Max was doing in school
Dale- It should be Dale and Chip instead of Chip and Dale
Donald- Ask him how his nephews are and what they are doing

Definitely tell all the characters how much you love their movie

We are having lunch at CP, any suggestions what to say to the hundred acre woods gang? Pooh is DS's absolute favorite of any of the characters in any of the parks and although he may surprise me, I think he'll be especially shy with him!

Lisaes - I think you could ask Pooh if he has a rumbly in his tumbly or whether he likes a smackerel of honey. You can always ask Tigger if he's feeling bouncy today, or what the wonderful thing about Tiggers is. Ask Piglet whether he's seen any heffalumps or woozles lately. Also, if your DS has a Pooh (or other hundred acre wood T-shirt) that's a great day to wear it to help get the conversation going.

Hope you have a great time!

Characters love when you make an effort to interact with them! It makes there job more fun! :) It will also inhance your experience because the characters will have something to play off of. Otherwise, you'll just get a hug and a wave and then goodbye. Just try to ask things in ways that make it easier for them to respond if they are of the non-talking variety. For example, rather than saying "Are you Chip or Dale?" just say "Are you Chip?" or "Are you Dale?" (i.e a yes or no question, or something that can be answered by depicting an emotion or an action.)

And it's best to only ask the character for his or her name if you have pen and paper- otherwise ask the greeter. hehe. Once, a mother told her little girl to ask the penguins what their names were. They just sort of looked at her helplessly and the mother commented, "The must have ice in their ears."

If you are in doubt about what the character is trying to tell you, just have them write it. :)

Lots of Pooh fans love to sing Pooh's song to him, but no one seems to know the words to even the chorus! They just repeat "Winnie the Pooh" over and over! ha ha. So, for your benefit, here they are:

Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh
Tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff
He's Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh
Willy, nilly, silly ol' bear

:)

OMG, do people actually sing to him at the restaurant? That would be so fun to see! Believe me, we know ALL the words to that song! We sang it a couple of times  at bed time:crazy:
Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I'm looking forward to this autograph thing myself::yes::

I got Alice to sing the "Wonderland" song with me :teeth:

I think she was a little self-conscious, but my DD was so cute and little, the characters did all kinds of funny stuff.

We usually say hi, nice to to see you, or something along those lines.
Although my DW does most of the talking with the Characters, I notice some folks just take the picture and abruptly walk away in search of the next character, so I always make it a point to say 'thank you' to each character we meet. Usually they'll nod or give a wave back.
A little thanks goes a long way, imho...

Boy am I glad someone asked this quetion because I was just thinking of this the other day. Here's the deal. We are celebrating our anniversary in Oct and I booked a Princess Breakfast in Norway for that morning. I asked the CM when I made the reservation to note it was our anniversary and I would like all the Princess' to hug DH so I can get pictures. Now I'm thinking: 1. he tends to be on the quiet side but is a little more gregarious in Disney, so will he speak to them and 2. Does he even know which Princess is which in order to say something more then "Hi, how are you". I'm thinking I'd better run to the video store and rent every Disney movie that has a Princess in it. Here's the catch. He doesn't know we're going and he'll think I'm nuts with all these movies. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I also don't want him sitting there going," Duh, who's that?"

HELP!

Wow! That's an interesting idea. I would never want my dh's picture with all of the princesses - especially on our anniversary. I hope Jasmine isn't there that day!

Lora, believe me, when you hit our age and have been married as long as we have, Princess' hugging DH is no big deal. Actually, I thinks it's going to be pretty funny and he's a good egg and goes along with most anything.

I just wanted to second what someone said in an earlier post - defintely wear t-shirts with your favorite character when going to a meal with that character. Tigger is my favorite & I always get lots of attention from him. I'm usually pretty decked out in Tigger apparel ;) - I have a Tigger backpack that I carry in the parks, either Tigger ears or a Tigger hat, and then usually a Tigger shirt when eating at the Crystal Palace. Tigger loves to see all of this & I usually get some attention from the other characters that don't like my Tigger backpack. Pooh picked it up & hugged it once, Piglet ran off with it.

One year at Garden Grill, Mickey wouldn't use my Tigger pen to sign our autograph book & took my Tigger hat off my head before he would be in a picture with us. It was hilarious!:)

We always plan different shirts to wear based on different character meals - the characters love to see you wearing them! :) We are also always sure to thank the characters after every picture - they always wave back & I think they appreciate it. Just remember to have fun & the characters will, too! :)

Hey ILUVDXL:

Last year at The Pricess breakfast in Norway Snow White Gave my
1 1/2 year old DS a Bit Fat Kiss on the forehead - Left a Huge Red Lipstick Mark which made for a Great Photo! I left it on him for the rest of the day, it was so cute!
That seems to be "her thing" - I saw her do it to a few other boys - make sure your Hubby gets one!

Also Jasmine has quite the sexy costume - a bit revealing. My DH is always on the look out for her... never wants to miss that photo op!!

I was studying accents so I tried my british on Mary Poppins and used a cursty for Aurora.I would love to use Nemo lines if the characters are there(especially fish are friends not food)
