We're going to R&C for the first time NYE. I'm sure my DH will order Fish-n-Chips, and DS(12) will want to order anything on the menu that he hasn't had before. The reason that I have avoided it for so long, is because I don't like fried, or battered foods. Also, nothing too heavy. Can you please give me some suggestions of what to order? We'd also love some dessert suggestions. Thanks in advance for the info. :)

The R&C is a must for us because I love the Pie Sampler. I would never have tasted anything like it otherwise and now it is one of my WDW favorites. The Chicken Leek pie is out of this world.

Couple it with the beer sampler and it will be a lovely evening.

Have a great trip!

I love the fish-n-chips. Even though it's fried, it taste light and non-greasy.

I don't like fried food and I loved their fish and chips. They are very lightly fired and have a great taste

Here's another vote for the pie sampler. Prime Rib is also very good. DH's favorite is the bangers and mash

We always get the mushroom appetizer (fabulous, if you like mushrooms) and a cup of the lamb barley soup. That's actually enough for a meal! Don't know if they still have the Ploughman's lunch, which was cheese, various sliced meats and bread.

I am not a fan of fried food either - however, I must say theirs is light and not heavy at all. I have, though, asked for broiled fish and received it there on two visits. We too are fans of the mushroom medley and the stickey toffee pudding!!!

Another vote for the bangers and mash here - loved it!!!

I tried the cottage pie and shared a dessert sampler the other day. Both were way yummy! The cottage pie is ground beef with carrots, and mashed potatoes all in a pie like shape. I almost ate all of it- it was so good.

The Pie Sampler is my favorite. DW and DDs like the prime rib. The one time I tried the fish and chips, the coating on the fish was soggy, and nothing was hot. The takeaway stand next door had delicious f&c.:earsboy:

I've had the salmon and it's delicious. Very light and flavorful. The last time I was there, my friend got the steak and prawns and that also looked wonderful. I'm definitely trying that next time! She loved it. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything at the Rose & Crown!

If you're really looking for light, they have a fruit and cheese plate on the appetizer menu. We order it sometimes when we just go in for the beer and a snack.

But I second everyone's opinions--the food is always better than I think it will be. Ask your server for suggestions also.

Of course, UK is a great place for a "liquid" dinner :teeth: .

I don't like the fried fish either, I find the batter is too heavy. I am definitely a fan of the pie sampler. Its' great!

I usually do the mushroom medly and a salad........

More than enough for a meal for me!

I do miss the Lemon Posset though- it was my favorite dessert. :(

One of the best mid-day meals we had was getting fish & chips from the stand outside UK/Rose & Crown and we are looking forward to doing it again this trip.

However, for NYE, dining at R&C would be close to the bottom of the list, IMHO. I know there are alot of fans of R&C out there, but there are so many other wonderful choices if you are looking for something special to bring in the New Year.

We chose Rose & Crown for a few reasons. One, it is one of the few Epcot restaurants that we haven't eaten at. Two, we want to be there while they celebrate NYE in their homeland. We chose Nine Dragons for these reasons. Three, my heritage is English and Irish, and I thought it would be a little nostalgic to eat in the UK on NYE. We have candlelight processionals packages booked for earlier in the week at Les Chefs de Fance, and Le Cellier, both of which we have eaten at many times.

How big are the pies on the Pie Sampler? This sounds like something I'd like, and I'm also considering the mushroom medley and a salad. I love mushrooms. :) Also, please forgive my ignorance, but what are bangers? Thanks for all the suggestions so far, and those to come. :)

The pies I would estimate are each, there are three, about the size of a big mans fists. Definately filling. There is chicken and leek (my favorite), pork and cottage pie.

Yum

Bangers are an english sausage - My gramma used to make us Bangers & Mash.... I haven't had them at R&C.
