What to do with overripe bananas?

Use in a "yonana" machine or high quality blender to make soft serve-like frozen treats .
You can do the same/similar thing with just a food processor. Put the frozen banana in the food processor and blend, you can add other fruits or add nuts or chocolate chips.

I freeze them in their skin then use them in pancakes. Just microwave the frozen banana 15 seconds or so and it will squirt right out of the skin. Mix the banana with the pancake mix before adding any water or liquids called for on the mix directions, then just add less liquids to get to the right consistency. They're very good!

Freeze them in the skin and then use them for banana bread muffins. The kids love them for breakfast or snack. I think my recipe is just from Allrecipies. It's easy and yummy.:)

I peel em and freeze them. wrapping each on in plastic wrap. My kids love them in milk shakes for breakfast. I use the vanilla Carnation instant breakfast one cup of milk and one banana. It's sooo good and it's also a nice quick breakfast in the morning before school/work. :)

I add bananas to oatmeal. And, of course, freeze any remaining for future use.

I had too many a couple of times last year and I peeled and sliced them, froze, then used the slcies to make yummy low-cal banana milkshakes.

I used about half a frozen banana, some skim milk, some cocoa powder, and a bit of Splenda. All in the blender for a few whizzes around and OMG it was delish. Tasted very decadent.

I peel them, throw in a zip-loc bag and freeze to make smoothies. I buy a huge bag of frozen whole strawberries at Costco, throw a few in the blender with a frozen banana, a cup of ice, some plain yogurt, whatever kind of juice I have and some protein powder. Blend it till it's smooth and give to our incredibly picky teen who hardly eats anything. He loves them.

My mom has always made smoothies. Add some milk and a little bit of sugar. Sometimes she'll throw in some vanilla ice cream and make it a little thicker like a shake.

Banana chocolate chip muffins, bananas foster over waffles or pancakes or with vanilla ice cream.

Mash it up and put it in with pancake batter...of course - a few chocolate chips are nice too!

Chop and put into popsicle molds, then fill molds with OJ and freeze. My son loves this refreshing snack!

I just saw this suggestion recently and tried it a few days ago and it worked! Banana "ice cream". No other ingredients needed, just banana. But it can pass for ice cream. There are some variations out there (things you can add), so I did one of those. Here's what I did:

Had three overripe bananas. Peeled and sliced, put on a baking sheet and threw in the freezer for an hour or so. Took out semi-frozen and put into the cup for my immersion blender (recipes say to use food processor, but the immersion blender did just fine for me). Blended a minute or two until smooth (soft-serve/soupy consistency). Since I had some Nutella around and that was a variation I'd seen, I put in 1/3 cup (or so) of that. Blended just a bit more. Dumped into a Pyrex container and put in the freezer overnight. And it really did turn out just like traditional ice cream (banana hazelnut chocolate flavored). We are still enjoying it!

I will definitely do this again, as it was quick and easy and way cheaper than buying ice cream!

We've been on the ice cream kick recently. I slice two bananas, lay them out on a plate and freeze for about an hour. Then I blend them in the food processor, scraping down often and flavor it. The kids have liked carmel flavor the best so far. But you can experiment like crazy with it.

Don't freeze them for too long or they won't blend. Need to see what Tonga toast is now...

I ahvent' read all the responses yet, so please excue if I am repeating:

When they ripen to how you like them, you can put them in the fride to stop the ripening. The peel will turn black, but the banana inside will be OK. also, break the bunch apart. That is supposed to slow down the ripening.
