We are currently staying at POR and our walk of shame will be bright & early Saturday morning. We will have at least a 12pk of bottled water left from our Garden Grocers order. We will not take it with us as we will not check any luggage for our flight. I would love to be able to pass it on to another DIS'er if possible? (Mods I am on my phone and did not know if or where the appropriate location for this post would be.)
If you are interested please email me at strollerfreak @ gmail . Com as I can check my email much easier on my phone than the board itself.

The last time this was discussed , it was pretty well agreed..that mouskeeping gets to take whatever is left in the room.

 That's too funny. I'd be happy for them to have it, if I had leftovers, but I'm seriously amazed that that there would be any kind of consensus about what people think should be done with them.

I always put the leftover groceries and a box, talk to my regular mousekiping and leave it for her with a note. We were told once that if you dont leave a note explaining that is for mousekiping they are not allowed to keep it.

That is a great idea! I was thinking that depending on who is the specific mousekeeper who finds it is and who that person is supervised by the stuff might often end up in the trash, possibly even even in cases where the mousekeeper might have preferred to keep it.

I love this idea, not sure about the logistics. BTW, if there's beer(and you're not driving) CHUGFEST!

I didn't realize there had been a "discussion" on it either............. :confused3
LOL

but, I always just leave a note that it's for mousekeeping!! :)

I hope this doesn't get flamed (if there's been a discussion before) but I had half a case of water left a couple trips ago and I just went to the pool area and talked to the first person that looked friendly and asked if they wanted it. Explained we were leaving and that it was brand new, unopened, still pretty much stuck in the packaging and they were welcome to it if they wanted it.

If we see someone that is checking in, we offer our un-opened leftovers to them, if not we leave them for the mousekeeper with a note to keep or dispose of them as they see fit.

Never had a problem giving away the leftover beer!

On our last family trip, we had 2 ladies leave us a 12 pack of water and several unopened bags of chips in front of our resort room door with a note.

The note said something about not able to bring those items with them and they wanted us to have them since they knew we'd be able to make use of them.

We had run into them several times over the course of our stay and chatted a bit so that's how they knew we'd be there longer.

It was very nice of them!

I have a DS who is interning at WDW who would love "leftover" groceries !

Seriously a great idea! My son did the CP with them and for what Disney pays and the expenses they're required to pay back out (rent, van etc) he didn't have but $20 to spend on food each week. It was a blessing when my parents would take the occasional trip over and buy groceries for him (he was a lucky one).

No clue how the other kids survive.

I too, like the idea for finding a family who has just arrived, and seeing if they can make use of any of the items. Nice to pay it forward! :)

POFQ in August 2012!!!

bell services really appreciates any unopened food and water:) we just give them ours when they pick up our luggage, and every one has been most thankful.

On the Bonnet Creek thread, they have a "pay it forward" where check-in and check-out dates overlap, then a box or whatever is left with Bell Services with the check-in person's name. But that needs someone to coordinate a list, etc. It's all non-perishable stuff and could work if someone wants to take on the task for each resort!

When we checked out of Pop Century in August of 2011, we left the 12 bottles of unopened water by the ice machine with a note on it saying it was free to take, and we couldn't take it on the plane. It was gone before we started to roll our suitcases out of the room. Don't know if mousekeeping got it or another guest, just hope it benefited someone!

bahaha. Ummmm I waited until my mom came to visit me [she came about once every 5 weeks] to purchase major groceries. I think we spent 150 dollars on food each time? :)

Granted, that cost is higher than average because it was for gluten free food.

I always ended up with about 50-100 dollars left over from my pay thou...

While it IS true that you can leave it for mousekeeping if you wish.... :confused3

What I normally do in this type of situation is go outside of my room and see if there are folks walking around, if there are any down at the pool, or if there are any people checking-in in the lobby. I ask them if they want any of what we have left over. If not, I leave it for mousekeeping with a note and our last day's tip envelope.
