We plan on arriving at DW around 2 or 3 pm on a Sunday in December (after driving for 10 or so hours). My children are really fascinated with the monorail, so I thought for our first day we would unpack, get our bearings, then use Disney's transportation system to get more familiar with it, and eventually end up on the monorail to tour whatever areas it goes through. We also talked about visiting all the resorts to look at the Christmas decorations. We have ADR's at the Concourse Steakhouse at around 7pm that evening.

Can you share what your first day plans are like? Can you make suggestions regarding mine? Do they sound okay for our first day, or should we spice it up with a visit to one of the parks?

Also, I didn't plan on going to MVMCP, but wonder if I'll regret not going. If you've been, was it worth the extra cost?

Thanks in advance for your advice! :flower:

Our plane arrives around noon. We are going to MVMCP at 4:00. I haven't been to MVMCP before but I think it will be worth the money :flower: I can't wait to go!!

For first day,we always arrive on a Sunday and go to DTD for a little shopping and then to FW for HDDR and hayride. We are going to MVMCP on 6th and 8th this year.We think it is a great evening and worth the dollars. We have been doing MVMCP each year since 1992.Have a safe and magical time at WDW. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

we usually like to do Chef Mickey's. It is a great atmosphere and no better way to say welcome :earsboy:

This year however, we are going during xmas (our first time during the holiday season) and have reservations to kick the trip off with HDDR with Chef Mickey's on Xmas Eve. I can't wait.

Thats what we do as well :cool1:

You may already know this .. but, if you wait til after 4 on your MVMCP day, you do not need a seperate ticket to get it to the park. That way you do not burn a park ticket. We did it like that and spent the day relaxing and having lunch at DTD.

Without having to buy a park ticket for that day, it makes the party less costly.

We had a wonderful time when we went last Dec. It was cold that night, but so much fun! Pack some mittens and hats!

I'm confused. MVMCP is a separate ticket event. I think you mean you don't need to use a day on your park pass if you go after 4 with your MVMCP ticket.

We went this past year for the first time to MVMCP and had a blast. As a matter of fact after reading all of the comments on the board we decided to purchase a second night worth of tickets and it was worth it!! My DD5, DW and myself had the best 2 nights ever. I would strongly recommend attending al least one of these events.

When we arrived at the Wilderness lodge the first day, we took it easy and enjoyed just walking around the lodge and looking at all of the decorations. We also visited a couple of other hotels before we went to MVMCP.

Doing a MVMCP is a must!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc  :bounce:

Have a great time

We get in around 10:30am and plan to take the shuttle to Port Orleans Riverside and drop off the luggage. It is our first time at this resort so we will get some lunch and wander around a little to get oriented. Might go over to Downtown area to shop. Might take a nap :cat: if our room is ready. We are going to the halloween party (our first) so we don't want to be too tired! We have found the parks to be pretty busy :crowded: on the weekends so we usually take it a easy on Saturdays and Sundays.

::MickeyMo It's hard to say because we usually arrive around 10am and hit the parks (we get 7am flights out). Your plan sounds good though, getting familiar but relaxing. By taking the monorail, your kids will also get to see the castle. It sounds great, have a great trip! ::MinnieMo

Thanks for your advice on both of my questions. I appreciate your help in planning my trip and am getting so excited! :flower:

If you can afford it do MVMCP. It's really a lot of fun. I took my #1 DGD to WDW the 1st week of dec last year and we had a ball. We did MVMCP on tues and had 5pm ps at LTT. Crowds weren't too bad except in front of the castle after Wishes. Went on Splash Mountain 3 times in a row. The decorations are just wonderful and the snow on Main St gave it a definit Xmas feeling. DGD loved the Christmas parade too. I think MVMCP is a must do if you are going to be there in Dec. :wave2:
