PLEASE GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR BAD WEATHER. WE LEAVE FRIDAY FOR WDW. WE HAVE 6DAYHOPPER. THE 10DAY FORECAST SHOWS ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS 40 -60% ALL WEEK:scared: THIS TRIP HAS BEEN PLANNED FOR A YEAR!! I AM REALLY STRESSED. I WENT TO THE 1$ STORE AND GOT PONCHOS FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING THE STROLLER FOR DD 21MTHS. I AM DETERMINED TO MAKE THIS A GREAT TRIP SO NEED IDEAS FOR PLAN B.

It always says isolated showers and it could rain in Orlando but not a WDW. Just put the ponchos on and go for it. Most everything is at some point inside so rain isn't something to worry about.

Hi,

Just bring your ponchos and HAVE FUN! Any rain while you are there will be gone in an hour or two (maybe even 15 minutes).

Don't go by computer-generated ten day forecasts. Here is a reliable short-term forecast:

bring the ponchos and have fun!! most of the rides are inside anyways so that should not be an issue and most of the rides in the different "lands" are close together ne ways so have fun and make the most of it!! you can always go down to DTD to go shopping or see a movie, maybe even disneyquest depending on the ages if you get desp. for things to do.

we had 1 trip that it rained a lot, my dad was glad that we were staying at WL cuz he just sat in the lobby, he was sick of the whole "4 ppl in one small room" lol but we made the most of it. pack extra clothes incase some get wet!!

When it rains a lot of people leave the parks. Stay and don't let it bother you.

First of all, unclick your Caps Lock button, as posting in all caps means you are shouting at us...

Since you are determined to make it a great trip, don't let the rain get to you. You've got the ponchos, you'll be fine. There's nothing else you can do, really, unless you have a weather control machine. If you do have one, I'd like to buy one to make it rain in California and Georgia right now.

Pack a change of clothing, dry socks, etc. in a backpack each day, plan to go to your resort for a break if you want, do the outside rides when you can, and save the inside ones for the rainstorms.

If the forecast shows rain all day then we head to MGM. This park seems to have the most shows & indoor (or at least undercover) attractions. If it's just a chance of rain don't worry - the weather in FL says that EVERY day!

We don't consider rain a problem, but it rains here as much as it does in Orlando so we're used to it. We just kept going and doing what we wanted to do when it rained on our trip last month. DS loves the rain and was splashing around in puddles and laughing while most were huddled under awnings and such.

It's usually quite warm still, so I suggest put on your ponchos and enjoy your trip!

ETA: One tip. We carried DS's diapers and change of clothes as well as our itinerary as other "shouldn't get wets" in waterproof bags. I happened to have a set we use for boating and the beach, but you might consider those large Ziplocs if you don't own something suitable.

Hope this cheers you: Every year rain is forecasted for every day of our Disney vacations when I check the weather forecast at home before we go...WITHOUT FAIL. And usually, like your forecast, the chances are really high. And you know what...this year was the first year that we were caught in a "long" rainstorm. But it was only 1 night of our 6 day trip and lasted about 3 hours. The "horrendous rain" they usually predict ends up being a 10 minute shower in the late afternoon...if anything. So pack the ponchos and have some fun!

I too am pretty depressed by the forecast..We leave on Sunday. But it does say thunderstorms and those usually are intermittent rather than all day rain. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Packing the ponchos and the rain cover for the stroller.

My plan B for next Tues. with my 3yo if there's no swimming: ride the monorail, check out the monorail resorts. They usually have coloring pages in the lobby at Poly. Check out the gift shops. Go to DTD and check out Once Upon A Toy or play inside Lego store.

We are going for MNSSHP and if it's a wash, DS will be happy not to hear the fireworks or watch the parade. :goodvibes I bought a video of it just to prepare him(he hates scary music)and it is still scaring the pants off him. Looks like we will mostly do rides anyway. Hopefully they will still pass out some candy.

First of all sorry about the all caps. I had no idea(LOL). Second of all thank you thank you thank you. I am feeling much better already. I think I will take ball caps for everyone also. My DS13 and DS11 like to wear them anyway. Still praying for rain in NC just not in Florida.:) :) :) :) :) :)

Okay, the DIS regulars are probably tired of *hearing* me say this every time this concern comes up, but I will keep saying it. We go to WDW all the time -- really too many times to count. Our best trip ever was when it rained. It was amazing. We practically had the MK all to ourselves. Seriously, we could walk down Main Street with our arms stretched out wide and not touch another soul. There was no waiting in lines for anything. Even the indoor attractions were walk ons. It had been raining on and off all day, so I guess people just didn't want to deal with the weather. We had our ponchos though and had a great time. It brought back wonderful childhood memories of playing in the rain. Seriously, it was the best Disney day ever. We were kind of bummed the next day when the sun was shining because we knew we'd have to share the World again.

To this day my dd (8) will look out the window on a rainy day and say wistfully, "Ahh, it's a perfect day for Disney."

Disclaimer: Please don't enjoy the rain if it is lightning in the area. It wasn't on our special day.

Hi
not sure if your forecast showed the 40-60% for today as well, but it was beautiful all day today. I was inside at work and my customers came in all day and said it was hot. I left work at 5 and it was beautiful. No sign of showers or thunderstorms yet. I don't pay attention until it is at least 80% chance of rain.. . We went to Disney on Sun for MNSSHP and it rained as soon as we got there and rained off and on all night, but we had a blast regardless, and after a while the kids did not even want the ponchos on! Hope you have a great trip!

Rain, schmain :confused3 It's just water, you'll dry off! Go on and have a good time:banana: Seriously, it always says rain in Orlando's forecast. Here's what we do when it rains, notice how few people are around and this is July 8th or 9th:

Our trip two years ago had rain every day except our arrival day! :rotfl: We still had a good time, but didn't get to spend much time at the pool and playground at the resort. The crowds were reduced some. My only problem was with the ponchos. I had bought the Walmart ones for a couple of dollars so they were pretty thin but not exactly disposable, but then had wet ponchos hanging all over the room and sticking to us! :confused3 The last trip I bought them at Dollar Tree two for a dollar, and we just threw them away at the end of each day! (Or passed them along to someone else, usually.) If you have younger kids you may want to buy them a child sized poncho so they don't trip on the adult ones. I took an extra large ziploc to keep my park bag dry, and another ziploc or two to stuff the ponchos in when we weren't using them to keep them from dripping everywhere. It has a lot to do with attitude! Just have fun! :thumbsup2

when it rains, and it's a prk day...bring ponchos, wear sandals that can take the water, and have fun! we always do,and come back soaking, but in WDW it doesn't matter!

I love this board. You guys are great. Everyone is so cheerful and optomistic. I bought the dollar store ponchos for everyone. I didn't buy multiples. Should I get more?? I love the ziplock idea. Great advice. I also loved the pictures that were posted. It has been raining her in NC most of the day. I am so thankful!! Our water table was getting extremely low. We leave Friday for WDW. We are planning a stop probably Jacksonville depending on DS21mths. Check in to ASMu on Saturday.

I wear a hat that I bought at Magic Kingdom and my faithful poncho. I never leave without them. I have just about wore my hat out. I think I will get a new one this trip. It rains on us every trip! I have thin, fine hair that can't handle the rain. We walk on, it doesn't slow us down. If it should start to thunder, we go inside. It's Flordia, it's going to rain somewhere in Orlando, but it could miss the park.
