What to do if you don't go to the parks?

Hi!

I know this has been asked (and answered) a couple times, but not sure how to get the search to help me find it, so I thought I'd ask here.
Some people I met are going to Walt Diney World in a few weeks. They will have 3 full days at Pop Century (arrive late on Wednesday- leave early Sunday). I was giving them some pointers about which park for which day, and they mentioned that they can only do 1 day at a single park. Of course, they're doing the MK. They will be with 2 kids, boy age 7 (i think) and girl age 10.

What would you suggest for them to do if they don't do the parks.
I thought I would suggest they bus to BHS one night wand walk to the BW. They can watch the entertainers there, catch illuminations from the bridge and maybe do a surry bike. But they might have to take a cab back (rahter than bus to DTD and but to Pop)
The mini golf is really expensive IMO.
What else would you suggest they do?

TIA
Anne

I stayed there for a night after I got off a cruise, and didn't go to the parks at all. We went in the pool, shopped and walked around at DTD, walked around the boardwalk, took the bus to MK and road the monorail around to the resorts on it, and got a spot on the beach at the Poly to watch fireworks. We ran out of ideas after that but fortunately we left the next day. If we wanted to spend the money, the surrey bikes looked like fun and there were several water options - Sea Raycers, boats, etc. There's also the mini golf which if they are AAA members, they may get a discount (not sure if AAA still offers this).

They can go to Fort Wilderness and do the Campfire -sing-along and movie with Chip and Dale! It's free

Our December trip we resort hopped around disney property to see all the decorations. It was really fun! We had never seen all of the Deluxe hotels until then and they are gorgeous!

We like to walk around DTD or the Boardwalk, ride the monorail and walk around the different monorail resorts, go to Ft Wilderness, or just hang around the resort. Pop has all the cool toy statues that my kids love so we take pictures by all those and then take a dip in the pool.

In their situation, I would probably sleep in one day and go to DTD then over to Ft Wilderness that night for movies and s'mores. The other day I would probably do the monorail loop (my kids feel this is a must do every time) and then come back to the hotel for a swim and to just hang out, maybe hit the Boardwalk that night.

we did a no-parks trip (Fantastic rate at Poly while seasonal pass blackout dates were going on) we just had a relaxing weekend chilling by the pool, eating at monorail resort restaurants (Tea at Grand Floridian is SO fun) and watched MK fireworks from all the monorail resorts on different nights (beach at the Poly is the best view)

I do not understand their problem. Yes, the difference in gate price, including tax, is $590 for three park days instead of one (3 adult/1child). But they are already going to be paying $341 for the one-day tickets plus four nights in the Resort plus transportation and meals. If they have never been to WDW, why are they spending their money to go there in the first place?

I can see regular visitors spending a few days out of a trip not in the parks, but for someone that is new they should be seeing as much as possible.

To be truthful, I totally agree. I was really surprised when she said she was spending $300 for tickets to just do one park. I had to check out prices to see how may days that let her have. She does have a relative down there that maybe has a Disney connection, but she's not volunteering that they'll be able to do parks more that that one. So, I thought I'd offer suggestions.

I just remembered that I did send the kids lanyards and pins for Christmas, so they can resort hop and do pin trading.

There are also the movies on the beach at the beach club...
