What to do if there is a snake in your car engine?

My husband just got home from work, parked the car in the driveway, and there was snake in the driveway. As he came in the house, he saw the snake go under the car and "jump" up into the underside of the car, around the engine area. Now what do we do?????????

Honk the horn and see if the snake makes a break for it!

Once the car cools down, the snake will probably leave, especially after nightfalls.

If driving it out with noise or a water hose doesn''t work, you can blast it with a CO2 fire extinguisher. It will temporarily stun the snake, and you should be able to remove it.

It might leave on its own once the engine gets cool -- snakes tend to be heat-seekers.

What kind of snake is it? Can you open the hood and check on it's whereabouts? That just creeps me out!

I guarantee you that if you start the car, it'll leave. Water will also work.

Poured water in it, nothing. Started the car, nothing. Honked the horn, nothing. Hopefully it left while he was in the house telling me about it.

Only another Floridian canm truly appreciate seeing the title of that post! Hope it left on it's own!;)

Did it at least check the oil for you?

I prefer the chipmunks that hop in and out of my engine. Have no idea WHY they find it so interesting, but both DH and I have seen them do it.

In my case it would be a case of shut the bonnet down, walk into the house and change my clothes, I just know what would happen if I saw a snake in my car.

:rotfl2:

I am now living about 300 yards from the river here in Louisanna I see snakes every day. As long as it doesn't get into the car itself I wouldn't worry too much about it like other posters have said it's the heat from the engine that attracted it when it cools down it will leave. It's still creepy though I hate snakes.

Oh and we have an alagator living close by with babies. Had one of the babies come up on the front steps the other day talk about :scared:

Normally, I'm not too bothered by snakes BUT I have an active imagination. In this case, if I did not see the snake leave, I would be too freaked out to drive that car! I would probably wreck because something tickled my leg and I had convinced myself that the snake had slithered through the airvents or something!! Nope, no thanks, not driving today!!!
