What to do Departure Date (Late Flight)?

Really? You can do this? This would be a very good option for MK since it's in walking distance.

A few questions:
  1. Do we need to add an additional park day now? Or it can be done at the time when we are there? We have just paid off our reservation.
  2. It's just a straight difference of 7 park day minus 6 park day? If so, it's only $53 difference if I calculated right.
  3. It doesn't matter if we have a package (i.e. resort + tickets + Genie+ - bought in advance when we were able to)
P.S. - We are flying back to Canada so need to see when we would need to return to the airport. Probably around 3pm for a 6:30pm flight?
It can be done day of. We always get packages and I usually only get 5 days to start then add on extra days once I see how arrival and departure days go. I just stop by the concierge at the front desk of the resort.

I’m not sure how Genie+ would work in this scenario, if that extra day would have to be added on based on the new rule or what, but adding the day in general is easy peasy.

And, yes, it’s always been just the difference between the tickets had you bought up front.

Thank you so much. Didn't realize you could add it on like that, last minute, for such a little fee. This would be Saturday labor day weekend, so MK will probably be busy but still to get another ride or two is a nice option.

The fact that it’s just this unplanned bonus day that didn’t cost a lot we’ve always been way more relaxed. Hit a couple things with short lines, grab last minute souvenirs and snacks, just enjoy the atmosphere. It has a totally different vibe from our planned days and is always one of my favorites.

If it still holds true, that weekend actually isn’t that busy. Most schools start mid-August so most parents don’t want to pull their kids out so early into the year so when we’ve gone it’s been surprisingly light for a holiday weekend. Of course that was before the pandemic and before they started Halloween in August so don’t hold me to that.

You can add an extra day to your tickets as long as you do it before the end of the last day.

We had 9 day tickets. On the 9th day we were at Epcot. Before we left Epcot that evening I went to a customer service booth and added day 10 to all of our tickets.

The issue you'll run into now is park reservations. If you wait, MK may very well be out of reservations.

But, yes, it's very economical (relatively speaking).

My son and I did a bonus day like that at MK on a departure day and it was great. Everything felt like a bonus.

Can see it being more relaxed and going on things with shorter lines. We wouldn't bother with Genie+ when we have to leave early afternoon.

We're actually Canadian, which is why are coming then (week leading up to labor day). It makes a great end of summer event before kids return to school. Hoping for "smaller" crowds.

Very good point. We would only buy an extra park day if MK was available, since we can walk there from Contemporary. Thanks for noting the timing too.
