If you knew that someone had a dog in one of the rooms (ie you saw it while walking by the room), what would you do?

If I was 100% sure it wasn't a service animal, I'd call the front desk. Sorry. I love my dogs, but that's what kennels are for.

I never Rat someone out unless it is unsafe. I would only tell if the animal seemed harmful. Plus it might be a service dog so that is what I would assume and mind my own.

The dog didn't have a little jacket on, and I can't imagine a dog that size as a service animal. I don't like to be a tattletale, but I wouldn't want my dues to increase because they have to recarpet the room. I mean where do they take the dog to do it's business when pets are forbidden?

Although helpful, service animals are not required to wear special vests, etc. and the size has nothing to do with an animal's capability of being a service dog as special needs can vary according to the person.

I would call it in. If it's a service animal, then there's no problem.

Agree! Besides any immediate danger concerns or the condition of the unit, some people are allergic to dogs. It's not like there aren't nearby kennels. My dog hadn't been in a kennel in ten years and we set her up at the one outside of Epcot.

service animals are often now being used to treat PTSD so it doesn't have to be the normal breeds to treat this problem as the dog must be suited to theindividuals personality as they don't have any actual physical limitations but psychological issues that prevent them from going places alone/without their k9 compaion etc. perhaps it was this kind of a service animal.. it would be pretty hard to hide a dog from housekeeping... they would bark when owner isn't in the room?

Are you certain it's their dog? I agree with the other posters, service dogs come in various breeds. If you saw it because you walked by their room and looked inside, they probably had taken it's vest off... afterall they wouldn't keep it on their dog unless they were in public.
Unless the dog was being harmful in some way, I wouldn't say anything. I can only imagine some of the things children do :rotfl:

The jacket isn't a tell unless they are in public, inside most don't wear them. Also, size doesn't matter - we have a neighbor who has a great dane as a service dog (we call it a service horse :) )

As one of my kids is highly allergic, I would report it. If it is a service animal the front desk will know and it would be no big deal.

Put me in the "report them" column. If it is a service animal, no harm - no foul.

I live in a resort town. You wouldn't believe the people that think "no dogs allowed" signs don't apply to them. Whether on the Boardwalk, in resaurants, stores, etc... especially the little ones that fit in purses. Often, their owners seem not to regard them as dogs at all - since they're not on the ground, it's OK, right?

Just have a discrete word with the desk staff and let them take care of it.

Personally, I'd do nothing.
All you have is an observation without further information.

While "no bad" would come out of it being proven to be a service animal - I would no more like to report this than to report someone who seemed to be walking around drunk only to find they suffer from MS or something.

YMMV

I agree. I have a whole kennel full of dogs, and we often travel to dog shows with them, but no way would I take a dog to a hotel that did not allow for it. Doing that just ruins it for the rest of us.

I'd report them also. If it is a service animal I'm sure the front desk knows anyway. If it isn't. they can pay the cleaning fee for the room and there is a kennel available. A friend of mine's son spent the night in an emergency room having trouble breathing because someone thought the no pet rule didn't apply to them. (Not Disney, a motel stop while travelling) A life threatening situation changes ones perspective on whether or not 'to tattle'.

It brings up the larger point that DVC needs a hotel or a portion of a hotel that is pet friendly. I saw dogs at Wilderness Campground. This is a growing trend and many large chains are becoming more pet firendly. Yes, points should be a bit higher for obvious reasons... I just think it is time for Disney to reckognize that Pluto is part of the family too.

Below is a list and a link of pet friendly hotel chains (obviously not all of them):

I would assume they got permission from Disney. Heck, everywhere I turn in Disney I see a Disney worker, let them handled it. Don't let something like that ruin your vacation. Disney would perfer that you enjoy yourself and spend money.

Call it in then forget about it. As mentioned if it is a service dog then the front desk will know about it or look into it. If it is no problem, if it is not, then you have found yet another person that feels the rules do not apply to them...smjj

unless it was a annoyance to me personally, like barking in the room right next to me or pooping outside my door or something, I wouldn't say anything about it.
