What time will Soutrhwest open fares tomorrow?

really??????:worship: so there is no penalty for changing a flight time at all? other than the price difference????????
like if I chose the one I like now,and then later decided I could do the one i don't like as much,I could change it back with no problems?

I kept getting so many error messages yesterday that when I finally was able to get through all the cheaper flights were gone. I ended up paying $40 more for our family of 5 to fly on Continental. PLUS, we are getting off DCL on 11/27 and we can check-in onboard the ship and they will print our boarding passes and take our luggage directly through customs and right to the airport. We won't have to touch our luggage until we're back in Chicago. We're flying home the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so I'm sure the SWA line to check luggage will be a nightmare. In the end, I'm glad I didn't choose SWA. Don't get me wrong, this will be the first non SWA flight we've taken in at least 5 years, but not to have to hassle with luggage is going to be a blessing!!:dance3:

Really...I do it all the time. For our October 2009 flights, my DH and myself had $185 in ticketless travel funds to apply to our May trip because our flights went down so much. In the end they ended up being $59 one way. I will give you a tip though....you should always book one way trips with Southwest. That way if only one leg of your flight goes down you can change it. If you had booked RT and one leg went down but the other up it would negate any potential savings. I have never had a problem booking lower fare or using the ticketless travel funds. The "refund" just has to be used within 12 months of the original ticket purchase date (not the flight date). One of the many reasons that I exclusively fly Southwest.

I hope I have been helpful.

I was able to book yesterday at 10:15 am with no problems. Southwest is the only airline that flies non stop from RDU anymore. On the way down we are paying 109 and the way back 149. I could have chosen a cheaper flight for the trip home but we did not want to leave that early.

After checking all the other airlines with one stop, including Jet Blue, Southwest was still the cheapest.

that's what i was saying in an earlier post, but "Corwin" said it wasn't true....now i'm confused....

I already booked my flights through Airtran; from BWI, non-stop both ways. It was $192.00 round trip and I need to add $30.00 for one bag each way for a total of $222.00

The fares for Southwest (with no baggage fees) is $243.00, so I am still happy with my Airtran flights.

I noticed the same thing last year as well, Southwest was almost $50.00 more the same week.

SW won't change their flight schedule, once published. Can Airtran say that? ;)

I booked for December and also found that out of all the other airlines, Southwest was the cheapest.

Can the process of getting a refund for a flight reduction be done online or do you call??

can be done online via the website and Change Air Reservation in Travel Tools

Do you mind me asking what you paid on Continental? Where are you flying from?

Thanks

If one of your flights changes in price, you can absolutely change ONLY that flight. All you have to do is to click on the "Change Air Reservation" tab. It will give you the option of changing either your departure OR return flight (or both if you want).

Even if one leg has gone down and the other one has gone up, it doesn't matter. All you would modify in this case is the leg that went down in price.

The only exception is with the DING! fares. I don't believe you can change a reservation to a DING! fare online. However, I would think that you could just cancel one leg, and use the travel funds to book the DING! fare, but I'm not sure--I've never done this.

In the immortal words of Ed McMahon..."You are correct sir!"

You can absolutely change only 1 leg of your flight if you book round trip. I change mine several times after booking. After I purchase, I check SW website at least 3 times daily looking to see if the fare for either leg has gone down. I have always saved money, but the difference has to be used for a future flight within 12 months (18 months with a $50 fee). No cash back unless you purchase regular fares. All these people who are telling you to book one leg at a time are wrong, Corwin explained it correctly.

I wouldn't want to purchase one-way tickets anyway. Then the TSA agents might strat asking questions. No thanks!

I have flown SW many times and one time had to purchase the Anytime fare as the Wanna Get Away fares were unavailable. I always go back in to check for price decreases. I booked this as a round trip. When the Wanna Get Away fare became available for one leg I tried to do the change for that leg. The SW system would not allow stating that both fares had to be the same level (Wanna Get Away, Anytime).
I was not able to make the change having booked both legs under one confirmation number and now usually book both legs in two different reservations to avoid this in the future.
Anytime I have tried to rebook when I had Wanna Get Away fares for both legs from the start I was always able to do the change reservation without difficulty.

FWIW, there was one time a few years ago, that I could not change just one leg of a RT ticket - the website wouldn't allow it without changing both - it made some reference to fare type I had booked and that I had to change both. And while I could "reselect" the leg I didn't want to change, the price on that leg was higher than what I originally booked. I even called SWA and asked their assistance but to no avail. So I usually book OW tickets since then. This was over 3 years ago and they may not price things that way anymore.

For what it's worth, I booked right after they opened fares. Leaving MDW on 12/23 and returning 1/4. I paid $266 r/t when I booked, and the same flights are now $304. These include all the fees and taxes. I'm glad I was able to book when I did.
