What time to leave for MCO?

Hi - We've never rented a car before and I'm wondering how much time I'll need to spend returning it? We're staying at Windsor Hills and our flight leaves MCO at 11:25am. Also can we fill up the gas tank near Windsor Hills or do we need to wait until we're closer to the airport?

Fill up close to the airport, and get a receipt.

Not sure where Windsor Hills is, but if you are en route (in motion) on or past Disney property 2-1/2 hours before flight time, you are in good shape.

During our trip this past February we rented a car for the first time, and were surprised how quick and easy the car return went. We rented from Budget.

We filled up the car close to the airport - there is a 7-Eleven off what looks like exit 8 of Florida 528, just a couple miles from the airport. The gas was reasonably priced. We kept our gas receipt, but weren't asked for it.

When we got to the airport we followed the signs to the parking garage containing the car return for Budget. Attendants were standing by, ready to process the returns. An attendant directed us to where we should park, scanned the car with a handheld scanner, and gave us a receipt. That was it!

You didn't mention which rental car company you are using. Most of them are located right on airport property so you drop off the car and walk into the terminal. There may be a few that are still located off site, in which case you will have to wait for one of their shuttle buses to take you to the airport and should allow a little extra time (10-15 minutes).
