If the park opens at nine? :thumbsup2
I don't know why I don't know this? Do they let people in at say 8.30am or do they let noone in till 9am...other than those with early adrs?

If they don't let anyone in till 9am then surely the only people at the ropes at 9am are those who have just eaten early at CP or CRT...is this correct?
Thanks :thumbsup2

If its a day when the park opens at 9am, then they let you through the turnstiles at 8:40am or so but you are not allowed on Main St until 9am. They have an opening ceremony that is designed to take your mind off the wait. We were there last week and I would guess that there might have been a few hundred people there waiting for the park to open.

MK does a character morning show at the train station every morning. If it is a non EMH day and the park officially opens to everyone at 9am, the show begins at 8:50am. They will let you in the turnstiles around 8:30-8:40 but they will not let you into the park. They will only let you up to the Mickey floral in front of the train station. The Mayor (or some other citizen of main street) will come out and do a little speil with dancers on the station platform and then the train will come in with the characters. Mickey will then join the mayor and "the first family" and they will do a countdown to open the park. Once the show is over you can enter Main Street and head to the lands where the rope drop will be (usually about 3 minutes or so after the show ends). **On EMH mornings the show is done for EMH not regular opening, so regular guests will be allowed in about 8:50-8:55am.

Is this opening show something not to miss? I only plan on 2 early MK days and at the moment both are with 8am breakfasts...but I can't decide weather to keep the CP one :confused3 .

I didn't think the show was all that special. You do get to see a lot of the characters at a distance, but this past trip was the first I had ever seen it and I don't feel like I've been missing out my whole life now. The characters don't arrive until the last minute anyway.

I think the show is awesome. It's probably one of the best ways I know of to start your day. The build up when you hear the train whistle blow and you know they're all coming down the track. I love seeing all the characters on the train. The music is great and the show is fun. My kids can't wait for the surprise at the end. If you have never seen it, then I think you should. It really starts my families morning off on the right foot.

We love it!!!

We loved it too. Unfortunately we missed it this time. It's really cute! Try to see it .

When I was there 2 weeks ago you couldn't get onto main street until 9:00. They do let the ADR people in, of course. We went to tomorrowland the first day and even though I was at the turnstiles by 8:40, there were tons of people ahead of me and Tomorrowland was packed. On our second MK day we were there at the same time but went to Fantasyland first and it didn't get near as crowded right away.

Do they actually still do the rope drop? I did the KTTK tour last October so was already in the park at "rope drop" time. I commented to our guide that I'd expected it to be a mass of screaming parents re-enacting the gladiator race from Ben Hur with strollers :rotfl2: and he said they don't do the rope drop anymore.

what about for those with the adr's? does that mean if u are done breakfast before 9am (say u are done at 830) are u allowed to go to the entrance area of choice to wait for rope drop? ie fantasy land for example

Yes they still do rope drop at each land... And yes a*lil*bit*goofy if you have an early ADR and you are done before 9am you can wander on Main Street or wait by the land of your choice (Fantasyland, Liberty Square, Adventureland or Tomorrowland) for the rope drop to take place.

Can you all give me some advice on travel and timing for 9:15a.m. ADR's for CRT in MK? (10/26)

We will be staying at PO Riverside. Wondering what time we should be at the bus stop at the resort should we take the monorail or ferry?

Also, with the 9:15 time will they let us in early? Thanks for the help! :)

Hi,

If I were traveling from POR to the MK for a 9:15 ADR I would probably be at the bus stop by 8:15 just to be safe. If a bus just left or the next bus is full it could take 20 minutes for you to board the bus and then another 15 mins to get to MK. I do not believe they will let you in early for an ADR that is after the offical openning so you will want to be near the front of the line to enter the park so you are not stuck in a slow moving entry line and have to rush to your breakfast.

You won't NEED to take the monorail or ferry if you are at any of the non-monorail Disney resorts (like PO-R).

All of the WDW resort buses take you right to the front-gate area of MK.
Only non-Disney resort guests and those who choose to DRIVE and park, will need a to take a monorail or ferry ride to MK.

I'd be at the PO-R bus stop by (no later than) 8:30am.
(Don't forget your park tickets.)

When you get to MK, you'll go through security bag-check and then go directly to the gate that is for ADR entry (far end of the gates).
You'll be allowed into MK to go to your ADR restaurant.

A general note about monorail vs. ferry:

If you're trying to save time... unless the monorail is simply NOT RUNNING... NEVER choose to take the ferry OVER TO the MK... it takes 5-10 TIMES longer than the monorail (depending on when you happen to go to the Ferry Dock).

OTOH, If you are returning to TTC (MK parking lot) FROM MK at Closing-Time, the ferry CAN be a good choice, as the monorail is SO BUSY that the time-factors may be about the same.

I am glad to know this too. In Disneyland in California, they open up Mainstreet USA a half an hour early so that people can shop, or grab a bite to eat at the bakery, wander around, take pictures, or line up at the rope at the end of Mainstreet. Then they drop that rope at the official park opening. I kind of liked that because you can do other things on Main street while waiting for the park to open.

Although this is my 3rd time to WDW, I still get the 2 opening procedures mixed up. Thanks everyone :teeth:

Thanks for the tips! This is our first time staying on property and I'm so excited. Totally forgot about the fact that we do NOT need to take the ferry or monorail.

Which end (left or right) is the ADR gate? Not sure I remember seeing that before.

Great Advice as usual!
