What "theme" is screaming out to be made into a DVC resort?

So....is there enough room to build a Poly or GF DVC? That would be really cool.

If they takeover some of the existing buildings and revamp them into villas. I think there's more room at Poly than GF. Personally I'd go for GF over Poly.

But watching a flyover Ireland video on my big screen TV tonight has me hankering for that old world castle village resort. How about an Ireland resort?

think the reason Pop is unfinished that 5 year promise not to do hotels at WDW is still in effect.

just don't remember if the promise was made in 2005 or 2007????

if 2005 then if the economy improves except to see something next year - but probably not until 2011.

there is more room at the GF - they could easily move the valet parking and built there - like the BC.

that say - really want to see how GF fairs against the 4 seasons. It has never had to go head to head with a real 5 star hotel before. really excepting the 4 seasons to be a 5 star hotel.

if this happens and GF is hurt. expect it to boost it hotel rooms occupancy rate by pulling part in the DVC.

it definitely worked for CR and it partially worked for AKL. they had excess rooms just about all the time. Now the CR does not. AKL still does a few times but nothing like it did before.

heck you could before rent a standard room (parking lot) and get upgrade to savannah view - it happened alot.

now have heard of a view pool view being upgrade lately - but nothing like it was before.

----

now back to Pop - Pop is pretty popular. It stays full even when the other values do not.

so really can't see the unused part being made a DVC - of course been wrong before (BC). and enough DVCers love it (me included)

so if could go DVC - but really think when Disney can work it on it again - it will be family suites. the ones at All star music don't even began to fill the demand for these things.

besides it will be closest thing to WWoS - your child is playing (baseball, football, socery, etc) for a week - being able to stay in a place that he or she can walk back to is a plus for everyone. Plus you can fix meals and save a little money will be a big draw. (my opinion)

disney really needs to put a sidewalk to WWoS for these kids - because they walk it anyway. Disney needs to face the reality and put a sidewalk from Pop to WWoS.

The castles theme has really got me thinking;

You could stay at an irish castle, a german castle, a scottish castle, an italian castello, etc.

Dracula's castle.

That would be SO cool looking, you could call it DCR, Disney's Castle Resort :rotfl: , pick which of the castles you wanted to stay at (like they have Kidani or the other one at AKL)

Probably way too expensive to build though...

What would realy be neat would be a hotel wrapping around the back of World Showcase with each section mirroring the theme of the country it sits behind.

I have mentioned this in the past...it is a fantastic idea!

I would like either a Tuscan Villa or an Asian theme. I think either theme would go over nicely within DVC and add something different to the mix.

I love some of the suggestions in this thread and would love to see a poll added (hint hint op) so we can see what the spread is! popcorn::

At first, I didn't like the idea of a DVC at a moderate or value hotel, but now that I think about it, I actually like the idea. I think it was the person who mentioned having one at Port Orleans that changed my mind, as I LOVE that resort (Riverside). I would only go for it, though, if the point totals were considerably lower per night of stay. There are times when I would love to make my 210 points stretch further, while there are other times that I would prefer to have more "luxury".

Count me in as someone opposed to a moderate or value DVC resort. I think it would cheapen the DVC brand, since part of what DVC uses to sell itself is deluxe resort accomodations. I would much, much rather see a Poly or GF DVC. We will buy points at whichever of those two is built first.

I also like the Asian, Castle, and European ideas for DVC resorts, but I wouldn't stay at a resort just for a theme unless the theme was amazing. I consider the animals reason enough for AKV, but in general, we believe in location, location, location. Give me walking, monorail, or boat access to some park please. There is a reason that prior to buying DVC, we always stayed at either an Epcot resort or a monorail resort...

:scratchin Personally, we didn't buy DVC to continue to have to stay in "moderate" accomodations. We are not looking to go backwards. We also have to use our points wisely to stretch 'em out...but we do that by sticking with studios.

I think POR is a very nice resort, and I don't think Disney would have to downgrade the DVC accomodations.

I would not mind a moderate DVC, as long as there is a kitchen, living room, jacuzzi tub, and a king size bed. To me the location is very important, but every once in a while it would be nice to be able to stretch out the points a little. I wouldn't want to stay in a moderate EVERY vacation, but every 2 or 3 years I most likely would.

I'd stay in a moderate DVC on friday and saturday nights if they made the points cheap enough, then switch to a regular DVC for the sun-thurs stay.

As it is, we normally stay at POP or ASP on sat nite, then switch.

It's kind of a pain in the neck, though, and my vacation note to myself in my vacation journal was "don't get a sat nite hotel in 09".

I bet they announce a Poly DVC. They'll already have the "in" on decoration and furniture with the Hawaii project. You know Disney, work smarter not harder.

Not saying that's what I would like to see happen, just what I think probably will (@ WDW anyways).

I would love this.

It has to be something that you'd never see in Vegas. That would be awful.

I like nostalgia. I wish Boardwalk had been more like Main Street USA. How about England or Europe anywhere from the 16th to 19th centuries? Colonial america? Or 18th century caribbean island?

Down under?

I liked the French Village idea mentioned by someone.

Personally I think Disney needs to shore up what they already have before moving on.

As far as Disney not building a new hotel for 5 years. I thought that Four Seasons or some other high end hotel was building on Disney property?
