I ordered a computer on Friday. They have it scheduled to ship out this Friday. I would have guessed that a company like them could have it built by today or tomorrow.

BTW, I know there are TONS of Dell haters, but I guess I have been lucky. This is my 3rd Dell, plus we have two Axim's. We did have one problem where they thought the problem I had was a monitor ( it was 3 weeks old ). So they sent me a new monitor. It turned out NOT to be the monitor, but the video card.

They told me to keep the monitor! But that was like 6 years ago. I wonder if they would do that today? :lmao:

EDIT: Too funny. I posted this about 6 hours ago, and now it says it has SHIPPED! Way cool!

I LOVE my XPS laptop!

I almost hate to see the status page tough because it seems like it never goes fast enough for me.

My last Dell (bought in January) was scheduled for shipment a week after I placed the order. I thought it was because they convinced me to use their Preferred Account (offered $100 off) and there might be a delay. It ended up that the computer was built on the first day after the order and shipped on the second day. I had it at my home before the scheduled shipping date. Maybe it will work out that way for you.

I also love the XPS 400 desktop - DISing on it now!

First rule of Customer Service:

Underpromise and Overdeliver.

Basically if they show it scheduled to ship on Friday, and it actually leaves the barn, say, on Tuesday, you'll be happy. This way, they're covered, and they've given you a timeframe they can probably hit.

Thats been my experiance with them. The original ship date is always 7-10 days and if you keep checking you find out it is shipped way before that date. I had ours in our possesion before the expected ship date...usually 3-4 days.

I like my dell.

I hated the customer service buying it ( got a great deal - was supposed to be delivered in 10 days) - the website kept saying that it was near completion.3 weeks after that - no computer. They said the earliest I could get it was in 1 month. :confused3 I told them time was an issue and the offered to reconfigure a new one for me . The guy acted all happy that he could probably save me a couple hundred bucks. Well he did, but it was a much weeaker computer that is wa probably obsolete a month later. :confused3

My next issue was a hardware problem. Poop happens. But being on hold for well over an hour combined.... :furious: Being talked through all the steps I just tried on my own --- plus a number of new steps that made no sense!!!! :furious: But once they figured out it really was broke, the serviceman was out in short order and fixed the computer.

The machine isn't so bad - actually pretty decent, but if someone has the number to get a living breathing human being after a couple minutes - let me
know. :cool1:

Makes perfect sense.

My wife and the sales person made a mistake placing her order, and we ended up with a DVD-ROM instead of a DVD burning. Dell was more than generous in addressing our resulting concern. First-rate customer service if I have ever seen any. :thumbsup2

Dell shipped ours quickly too. It showed up with a bad motherboard but it did arrive quickly. ;)
