By looking at my siggy, you'll notice that we leave in 24 and counting.:cool1::yay::woohoo: I have a few little surprises planned for DD4 like my own "Welcome Home" mickey package that will be waiting in the room when she gets there. Plus, Cinderella is going to "magically" come to our room the night before we go to MK and leave a Cinderella shirt, crown, and wand for her to use in the parks. Does anyone else have an idea of things I can have waiting for her when she wakes up each morning?

You have some really cute surprise ideas already. I haven't thought of any yet. My daughter is 5 1/2 and we will be surprising her with a very short trip 3 nights 4 days. I was going to try to keep it a secret the whole time, until we get there. But, I think once we get on the hotel shuttle the driver may give it away, or maybe even the shuttle if it has anything disney on it. So, i don't know if my plan will work. I was planning on carrying some small surprise items in a bag and leave them in the hotel room for her to find, and pretend the characters left it for her. Maybe my hubby can distract her while I sneak to the room before them. We'll see:lovestruc

Glow sticks, little "good night notes from characters", tee shirt for the next day, invites for meals from characters are a few that I leave.

I hadn't thought about doing this...we have a while before our trip, so lots of time to plan! :)

We had good luck leaving trading pins for my kids each morning...

That way, when we visited the park, the kids had extra pins that they could trade.

It was easy to order the pins... and it seemed to work out well...

(I have boys, so the cinderella outfit and tiara isn't really an option!)

we had a new tshirt everyday and something little that corresponded to the park we were visiting (passports for Epcot, Mickey Ears for MK, safari hats for AK, glow sticks/braclets for DHS/Fantasmic).

Ohhhhh!! We LOVE planning little suprises for the kids on our trips!!!!

Some of our favorites:

Leading up to the trip: For this trip the kids have received a package from Never, Never Land from the fairies that had buttons made of the characters they will be for Halloween. Next the received letters from the Haunted Mansion, from the Ghost Host- The Ghost host heard that an annoying bug who calls herself TinkerBell had sent them a package, and he wanted to encourage them to join the 999 Happy Haunts. The Ghost Host left them 3 ring binders that has Park Maps, coloring sheet, games for the car, etc... There will be 2 more packages for them before we leave. I also set up for teach of them to receive a call from Mickey before the trip (go to disney.com for the free call.)

Disney Survival Pack- the day that we leave we put together a small bag- It has the Disney Contract (rules/guidelines for our family to ensure a great attitude on the trip), a couple of Disney trading pins, autograph book/pillowcase/sharpie, and usually a new movie to watch in the car.

Invitations- from various Disney characters for special experiences- meals, parades, etc. (*Note- since we didn't want to spend 2 table credits for CRT, our youngest received a very special invitation from Cinderella to visit her "summer home" at 1900 Park Fare.

Bippity Boppity Botique- Family Style- I applaud Disney for all of there efforts to make a super magical experience for little girls- but as a mom with 3 girls- there is no way I could justify that much money... so we do it in the hotel. The girls find special make up, accessories, jewelry, etc in their bathroom before one meal, and we go all out make over- Up Do's, fancy dresses for the little ones, the whole 9 yards.

Star Wars After our only boy sees his sisters get all of the girly attention- we make sure he gets a special treat, too. He is Star Wars obsessed- so he usually has am invitation and special t shirt from Darth Vader.

Other ideas:
* I buy special candy from the dollar tree at home that would be outrageous in the parks, but a treat for them- long lines and show waits become a lot easier to handle with a ring pop!
* Water Proof Uno- again- long lines, parade wait, etc- are exhausting! We have HUGE games of Uno going- it keeps the kids entertained- helps them meet new people, and passes the time! The water proof Uno comes on a caribeaner that I hang on my back pack the whole time
* Vader Bucks (or something of the sort)- Again- for the waiting... Last time we went over Star Wars Weekend- I created "Vader Bucks" - measured out to be the size of our dollar bills and printed hundreds of them. The kids passed those out to kids they met while waiting for various events, rides. Again- they met a ton of friends that way- and the wait times flew by!
* Of course- buy your glow sticks ahead of time... so much cheaper!!

This is a long post... Sorry!

What great ideas. I am so excited to do some of these with my children! Thanks for sharing!!!!!:worship:

I'm planning a "Welcome to Disney" gift for my boys. It will be from Mickey and will "appear" in our room after dinner on our first night. I'm including a Mickey cup, t-shirt, books, coloring and sticker books, fruit snacks, and some small character toys from the Disney store that were on clearance. I'm putting everything in those reusable gift bags from the Disney store. Then I'll attach a tag with the boys' names on them in one of the Disney fonts. I've been gathering up things for several months so I may enough surprises for 2 nights. My boys are almost 4 and at this age it's easy to hide surprises. I tend to buy things and put them away and then forget I've bought it. :)

I love all the ideas here! I love the t-shirt of the day!

These are all awesome ideas!! It's going to our DD 6th birthday! I'm trying to come up with ideas for her now...can't wait!

Ohhhhh!! We LOVE planning little
I also set up for teach of them to receive a call from Mickey before the trip (go to disney.com for the free call.)

I went to disney.com but couldn't find the info on the mickey call free or otherwise. Does anyone have any info on this? dd would be thrilled!!!

My daughter has been getting "Mickey Mail" every day for a week or so and will be getting gifts left in her room overnight about 10 days out. We're trying to pack light (to avoid extra baggage fees:mad:) so I don't want to pack any extras. My idea is to buy her something in the park that she desperately wants but we say no to then sneak it on her pillow so she wakes up to a special gift from Mickey! I love designing things too so I'll be making notes from her favorite characters maybe giving advice for the park of the day or special things to look out for.

Mickey comes to our room each night too!

Don't forget about PJ Pals (or any other Disney themed PJs). Disney Racers were a big hit when DS was younger (now its Vinylmation). Or pins for the pin trading kids.

Mickey has left so much over the years that he is running out of ideas...

we have been doing tinkerbell treasures in our 9yr dd's room on every trip (21 to be exact), that's a lot of treasures. i leave something by the resort dr when she goes to sleep. i do a lot of the dollar stuff, disney dollars, i may pick up things i see her looking at in the gift shops while at disney too. it's getting harder the older she gets, it was really hard the year we went to wdw 6 different trips.

What great ideas. I want to do something like this for DD when we are there this time around. Last time we were just so overwhelmed to be there and trying to make sure everything was flowing okay. Now that I have been with the family I'm much more relaxed and look forward to the fun stuff!!

Wow!

These are some terrific ideas. I will have to save this post.

Any other ideas for younger children. My son will be 26 months when we go.

When we went for my DD's princess 5th birthday last year I stocked up on Disney themed items-cards, markers, small toys, etc. before the trip. Our first night I put out one or two of the gifts and when the kids (DD5 and DS 2) discovered them I told them that Tinkerbell leaves treasures for good kids during the night. :rolleyes1

Are you going to MNSSHP? If so, a treat bag would be good to leave for that day.

We also got autograph books and pens for a surprise one morning.

Stickers and coloring books are for another day (probably the last so they can use them on the way home).

GIFT IDEAS are so fun to do. Here are some of the ideas I have done over the years (DD is now 12 & DS is now 13) I will try not to repeat other ideas:
1. I printed out a Royal Decree on handmade paper to invite children to CRT (works for Storybook & 1900 too). Rolled it up a sealed it with wax to make it look official.

2. (This one takes time) Handmade autograph book. I took acid/lignon free scrapbook paper and printed out clipart of individual characters on the computer. (movies like lion king, pocahontas etc. had group photos). Then I cut them down to 5x7 size and had it bound at kinkos with a transparency on the front & back to make it sturdier. I had this wrapped on their bed the 1st morning... Each character had their OWN space to sign... but I warn you. Make sure you have a photo of all of them. On my pocahontas page... I forgot the villain Ratcliffe. He made a BIG deal out of it to the kids and refused to sign. So we drew a sketch of him... and he signed under it! NOTE: make sure the characters only sign ONE side of the paper.
This book was perfect when we got home... as I simply took it apart and placed it right onto my scrapbook next to the photo of the character signing that page!
8 years later... this is STILL the favorite part of our vacation book to the kids. AND the moments thei remember the most!

3. DRIVING: When the kids were 1-3rd grade... we gave them a map of our trip from AAA. I had marked mile markers with a sharpie. When we passed those mile markers... the kids were to let us know. When they did correctly... they got to get something out of the TREAT bag. It was either a gmae to play on the trip... or a snack to enjoy. either way it was fun! The key is to give them something that is immediate gratification. otherwise they have to wait.

4.FLYING: the above works great with a few modifications of airport/flying over things/ or when the captain speaks /seatbelt speech etc. instead of mile markers.

5. FAIRGODMAILERS - If you can get someone reliable...have them send a postcard/letter/invite from WDW saying your childs fav character is waiting.

6. LEAVE BEHINDS: Duck feathers in the door; cut outs of Mickey/pluto/donald footprints on the floor; Box of fairy dust; or simply a fairy dust trail;

7. SUPRISE GIFTS: (I got this one from the fairy godmothers) at the end of muppets 3D I threw a gift wrapped in a crepe paper ball into the kids laps. It had a small container of bubbles inside. they thought it came from the movie!

8. "I DID IT" gifts: Have a gift ready when your child does something they have never done before! Like tower of terror or rockin' roller coaster. Something like a "I rode it" button.

9. PIN TRADING: I REALLY like to give the kids cheap disney pins I buy beforehand to trade. Remember to buy pins that they DO NOT LIKE! Otherwise they will not want to trade them! This is easy and provides a vacations worth of fun!

10. BIRTHDAY/PRINCESS SASH: I did this for my DD 5th birthday. She wore it all day and was a STAR! It simply had her name GIANT in glitter on the back... and 5th birthday in glitter on the front! It was a HUGE hit with cast members because it was different than the store bought ones. If you DO get a store bought one... change it up with glitter! Catches their eyes. Because of this we got special passes to see Mickey & Minnnie in the autograph rooms!

11. BE PHOTO READY: (yes... I know... this may be a bit anal retentive) You don't have to all wear matching shirts... but DO make sure they are coordinating colors. WHY? You will always be ready for a photo op! You never know which one will be THE one! You know?

GIFTS THAT WORK WELL:
Silly bands
bubbles (Think about the wedding bubbles)
waterproof games
snacks (not crushable/melting ones)
glow things
pins for trading

REMEMBER: give out cast member appreciation cards!
