What sort of foolishness would you like to see?-The end 9/27

Oh no! It's almost over? Already?! Well, that's IT! You're just going to have to go back! :thumbsup2 Ummm.... but there's a Vegas trip somewhere in there first, right? When are you going? (or did you go already? )

Ack! I'm in on your last day! Sorry, but I got all caught up. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip, Heather! :goodvibes
Glad to see you here!

Yeah, this was sort of a mini-trip, but better that then none at all. I'm heading to Vegas on 12/12-about the same time you were there last year. At the moment we're at the Mirage, but I'm hoping for discounts to come out. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

More coming tonight-but I wanted to announce (crow?) that I e-mailed the DISUnplugged re my towncar/cab issue. I didn't expect them to read it, as I was kind of biting the hand that fed me (as I got the code on the DIS), but they did. I feel comforted that I'm not off in being peeved about it. So keep your ears peeled when you listen to this week's e-mail show.
No clue why Kevin heard Heather as Sheila, though. :lmao: :lmao:

OMG! That was your issue with the towncars? OMG! I 'know' a STAR!

You are rocking along... What an awesome auntie you are!

They were still leaning towards going to TL. Sally called me, apparently TSM had shut down while Mickey and Minnie were on it for about 35 minutes. Although i could have lived my dream of being evacuated from a Disney ride, it is a very good thing I did not go-Minnie said they were in pitch black for about 60 seconds. Had I been there, I would have redefined the phrase "scream like a girl." Anyway, Minnie and Mickey returned safely. I headed over to the Villa, taking some pictures of SAB (which aren't in my flickr, apparently) as I went. I greeted them, Ferdie gave me a pin to replace the one I'd traded for pirate Goofy. We headed out to the van, but not before I yoinked the bounceback slip the trash and towel people had left in the Villa. I perused it, and opted against it as it was for Free Dining type-times (I come over, steal their paper, then don't use it.)
As we rode along in the van to TL, the boys were kind of glum about it being our last day. Mickey was giving them the we'll come back spiel, I was assuring them it was ok to be sad. Jack commented that he thought the boys would end up moving or working down there.* Ferdie was suggesting that they just stay. Sally asked how he suggested they afford that. Ferdie's response? "Save up." He wasn't being a smart-alek at all, it was just "save up." We arrived at TL-i was surprised by how close it is to DTD-Minnie says there's bus sharing between there and TL, I haven't noticed it as I've never taken a bus from anywhere other than POR/FQ. We got out, and headed in. Mickey and Jack got lockers and towels. We stored our stuff, and headed off to Crusher Gusher. I left my camera if the locker, because it's not like I had a waterproof case for electronics with me, or anything. :sad2: There was a logic at the time, but I forget what it was.

It was decided that the adults would go down in pairs, and I'd go down in a three-er with the boys. I was a little apprehensive, as I'd never been to any waterpark before (I learned to swim later in life than most kids, so it wasn't really an option). We got in line. I saw people coming off without shoes, so I thought you couldn't take your shoes on it, so I instructed the boys to take off theirs. We wandered up-we were doing the Pineapple coaster. Sally was being a little apprehensive, she was concerned that there would be too much darkness-Minnie said there wasn't much. Minnie was chatting about how she liked this coaster, I said "And we should keep our butts up, right?" ( )-the face Minnie made at me, but Minnie is not blue. Then she was instructing Jack and Sally to keep themselves up to avoid hitting the roller thingies. At this point we passed a CM, whom I asked about the water shoes-we could wear them. I hurriedly put mine on the wrong feet, and told the boys not to listen to weirdoes in line. They weren't amused. We boarded our ride-of-our-life-raft, positioned ourselves, and we're off. Whee! This was fun! Then I realized how dark it was, and we went down a drop. "Hmm," I thought, "I hope Sally's ok with this." We landed. I tried to gracefully get out of the raft, while hurrying towards the Photopass photographer to get our picture. Whoops! I went under. Oh well. I headed over, got the card, and then began stage-mothering the Photpass Photgrapher "Put his on there! And hers!" Pictures loaded, we gathered our thoughts. Sally was not a fan of the ride, and was staying in the splash pool if we were going again. Mordie wanted to ride alone. (cue vintage tape of tween Heather "I want to ride by myseeeelf.") It was decided that I would also ride alone, I was excited to try the banana one which you can only go on in two-sies. We queued up. Mordie got to the front and was told that you needed two people for the Banana side, so he had to do Pineapple again. He went down by himself. Then I was told the same and got ready to go down (I didn't know if the rules would be different for me due to my being bigger than Mordie). Public service announcement-if you're large, fat, pooh-sized, what have you-do not go on Crusher Gusher solo. It's hard to position yourself away from the rollers, so your butt will hurt. I landed, once again went under water to get off, and regrouped with everyone else.

As it was approaching 11, we decided to eat. Minnie and Mickey had brought water (Poland Spring-w00t). We headed over to Leaning Palms. I had done my homework on the menu ahead of time, and decided I wanted a grilled cheese pretzel. But I didn't want the bucket and shovel, and I wanted fries and not fruit or pudding. I could order my pretzel a la carte with fries. Minnie had cheese pizza, and Jack and Mickey had burgers. Sally had a chili cheese dog, and the boys split a burger. Everyone liked their food-it was funny, everyone kept on checking to make sure they had vegetarian options for me, then I'd say I was getting a grilled cheese pretzel, and they'd be interested as to what it was. Sally said her chili dog was better than BB's, which is noteworthy given it seemed she preferred BB.
*Mordie is pretty set on going to college in FL, I've tried suggesting the WDW CP. Ferdie plans on working there.

Up next-we all catch a wave...

Hi Hedy!

Been enjoying the trip report! It's particulary enjoyable to read a trip report that I am part of. While, as you know, I tend to lurk far more that I post, I figured I'd chime in since it was sort of requested :) (and I figured I'd better do it soon... you're almost done).

I particularly enjoyed reading the parts about your night with the boys. Since I wasn't there, it's been fun hearing about it. The boys definately had a great time that night!

So, here's the official story of the stuffed dragon... Mickey won the dragon earlier in the week. Now on our last trip with the boys in 2006, Mickey had also won a stuffed drafon at one of the games, and Ferdie immediately asked him "Can I have it", to which Mickey replied "Sure". Of course, then Mordie wanted one too. Luckily, later in the week, Mordie won his own stuffed frog. So, this time, when Mickey won the dragon, both boys asked him if they could have it. This time, Mickey decided to "play it safe" and gave me the dragon instead, at which point I said I would reserve the right to give it someone else later in the trip. I figured I'd wait and see if any other prizes were won. So, after Mordie won the turtle, I gave Ferdie the dragon. (So, now the boys have a turtle, two stuffed dragons, and a frog - quite a collection). Oh, and the turtle stayed with Mickey while Mordie and I went to get a bag so that it would stay dry since Mickey was standing under shelter.

As for the 5:30 dinner reservation... it is much easier to get a reservation for a party of 3 then for a party of 6 or 7. All the reservations I made for the larger party sizes were at the bizzare times.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your trip report!

Sounds like you had fun at TL, I've heard you must keep your bum up on crush too :rotfl:

[brief sidenote-Monday, Jack and Sally went to the Sox game, so Mom and I watched the boys. At dinner, Ferdie began pantomiming something-it was the wave pool at TL. I later asked him which he prefers-he likes the slides at BB better, but prefers TL's wave pool. Mordie commented that he got banged up in the wave pool. Earlier in the night, Mordie had been talking about how at PTC the waiters were acting like Aunts and Uncles and Mom was in the kitchen. He said it was cool, but then later he told me it was weird. He's like that though. Also, Tony the Turtle is well. Mordie has one of those LL Bean toiletry things-it's filled with Disney soap, shampoo, etc. He's saving it up for Boy Scout camp. Jack got me a Tink dressed as a pirate pin in exchange for me teaching him to check his mail from the phone.]

Everyone but Jack and Mordie headed off to the wave pool, while they headed off to try humunga Cowabunga. I immediately pointed out a Photopass Photographer to Minnie, I had told her about the wave Photopass picture (thanks Lessa!). We did that picture, then we tried a few waves-I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the wave pool-I thought it might be too violent for me. Sally fell on one wave and headed to shore. Mickey went out deeper. I fell and scratched my hand. At this point, I began to worry about Mordie and Jack. With the exception of Minnie and Ferdie, everyone else is nearsighted-I had my contacts in under my goggles, but everyone else was glassesless. Hence, I was a bit worried as to how exactly Jack and Mordie would find us-Mickey had on a bright blue rashguard, which I thought might help. Jack and Mordie arrived, Mordie quite proud of himself for conquering the big slide. We all hung out for a few waves, and then Mordie went down. Remember what I said earlier about Mordie being slender? Poor kid got scraped on his back :(. The lifeguard offered him a bandaid, but he declined. He got back on the horse (or wave) that threw him. After falling twice, and scraping my knee, I stayed by the shore. It was soon time for us to press on, I had asked if we could go in the lazy river before my AIS time-I'd said I wanted to be in the minivan by 2:30.

We headed to the lazy river. My knee was bleeding, Minnie suggested we get a bandaid, I declined (Remember what I was saying about my irrational worry logic earlier-I was worried the bandaid would come off in the water. Yeah). We joined the lazy people in the lazy river. That was fun. The boys were goofing off. We floated along. We passed a Photopass Photographer. I responded calmly and rationally alerted Minnie to this "Minnie! Photopass! Photpass person!" We missed our opportunity. We got out and headed to change and grab minidonuts. I dressed partially, I had left dry shorts in my carry-on. Sidenote-may I recommend Lands' End quick dry shorts for the waterparks-they have a lot of pockets. WE headed towards the mini-donuts. Mordie wanted something else, so he and Jack headed off to get it. We reminded them of AIS time. Mickey commented as we were in line that Minnie had not had a Mickey Premium Bar this trip, which answered my question as to why Ferdie called it that the night before. We got mini-donuts. I thought they were good, but not worth the cult following.

We headed towards the exit. No Jack, no Mordie. We waited, tried Jack's cell but it was in the locker. It was nearing AIS time. As we awaited Jack and Mordie, I saw soemone walk by with not only an LGMH but also a yellow MH, which could mean either SR, or I *think* Enchanted uses bright yellow as well. However, I was too involved in trying to figure out where Jack and Mordie were to say hi. It was finally decided that Mickey, Minnie and I would go-I hugged Ferdie goodbye and told him I'd see him Tuesday (mom and I were going to take them out to eat before school started). As we turned into the Epcot resort area, my cellphone rang-it was Mordie saying goodbye. I thanked Mickey and Minnie, and headed itno the Dolphin. I got my luggage, changed into shorts, and awaited my towncar. It arrive, the driver kind of smiled at me taking a picture of my name thing and took a picture of me with my name thing. We drove away.

I must have been coated in Pixie Dust or soemthing, because as we left Disney property, my sneezes, which had been under control, became coughing fits. My driver dropped me off at MCO-I got in line to drop off my bag. That was painless, then I headed upstairs. i took one last tour around the airport-they didn't have the Tinkerbell t-shirt I saw in July there-I really should have just gotten it then. I stopped by the sundry store for some hard cnady for my throat. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I just grabbed a key lime cookie. I waited for my plane, coughing all the while. We boarded. I was next to a dad and a teenage son. Now, Mordie bears a resemblance to Daniel Radcliffe-it was more noteworthy when he was younger, but I think it'll be more prominent as Mordie gets older. The son looked more like Daniel Radcliffe than Daniel Radcliffe. they were almost sleeping, so I didn't want to mention to them that their air thingies were on high. I was cold, and had packed my wrap in my checked luggage. I decided to (cough, sneeze, whimper) suck it up and get the $7 blanket-I figured at least I could report back on them. I pinged for a flight attendant, but they were all out of them, the flight attendant said to let me know if there was anything they could do. I watched TV, drank my Cokewithnoiceplease, and nibbled on my cookies and nuts while sneezing and coughing. We finally started our descent. My ears were going through heck in terms of pain and clogging. We landed-I could only hear out of one ear. I called my mom, and left a message that I'd landed. I got my suitcase-mom called saying she was stuck in traffic. she showed up in about 10 minutes. I got in the car. I croaked that I wasn't up to talking. We got home. I put down my bags, put on my nightgown, and headed to bed. my cat Oscar came running in purring.

Aww we're at the sad part of the trip report. Sorry it didn't end so well for you. It's no fun being sick.

Oh no it's finished, thanks for a lovely TR and if you get trouble with your ears when you fly again try a nasal spray (the one I use is called Otravine, not sure if they sell it in the US) as I used to get serious pain and be left deaf for about 2 hours, since using the spray absolutely nothing :thumbsup2

I think this could be called my "I never thought..." trip. I never thought I could be happy just being at WDW for 3 days. I never thought I could not go to MK and have a great time. But I had a great time! I loved this trip! I had a great time! Let's review my looking forward to list
*Being with my nephews, their parents, and Mickey and Minnie in WDW.-check!
*Having my special night in the park formerly know as MGM with the boys-check!
*Eating at Tusker House-check! I'd definately return there!
*Eating at Boma-Check!
*Staying at Pop for one night-check! I will definately return to Pop.
*Staying at the Dolphin (I now will have stayed at all three WDW resort levels-and at 2 resorts whose current title does not begin with Port Orleans....)-check! Based upon the room service charge and the towncar deal, I wouldn't run back to the Swolphin, but I'm not swearing them off, either.
*Getting a Dole Whip* for Bawb Varley (if we go to MK)-not done, but i'm sure he's met my dad, as I asked him to keep an eye out him.
*Taking a towncar (there'll be a dude/dudette with a sign for me!)-fun, but I think I'll stick with DME.
*Riding Tot and RnR (if Ferdie wants to do so)-didn't do it. Oh well, there's always next time.
*Being able to walk to the parks from the Epcot resort area.-didn't walk to DHS, and it was toowet to walk to Epcot-still was nice being close, though.
*Riding EE and Kilomanjaro-fun as always!
*Possibly going to TL-this was a lot of fun!
*If we go to the MK, going on the three mountains with the boys-n/a
*If we go to Epcot-TT and Soarin', possibly getting myself some Laila perfume-n/a-but I'll probably order it from Nordstorms

I had a really good time, and hope to go back to WDW with everyone else the next time they go.

Now, my next trip :(. I'd been hoping to do a quick long weekend for my 25th birthday in January, but due to my work schedule that's not going to happen :(. And I'd booked the Podcast cruise in January, but I think I may cancel as the guilt of leaving the MamaKat alone on Mother's Day (and she wouldn't want to go) would be too much. That said, I'm looking hopefully at the SR meet that's supposedly happening in WDW in October next year. So w00t for that. I'm off to Vegas in December, and I'll probably do a TR on that. So watch my signature for that (can you believe I'm only changing my resort now? We were at the Mirage, but are switching to NYNY).

Thanks for reading!

You're welcome. My ears are usually good with gum, but I learned the next day my ears were infected. :(

Aww we're at the sad part of the trip report. Sorry it didn't end so well for you. It's no fun being sick.
Thanks!
Oh, it's all done. Sigh.

Hope you recovered quickly!

Great report! :thumbsup2
Thanks!
Isn't the wave pool photopass op fun. :thumbsup2 Sorry you guys got injured in the pool.
It's great! Despite being injured, we have positive memories.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: at the turtle. I think it's more the luck of the draw that party size-I've gotten some weird times as a solo.

Hi Hedy, I need to do some more reading but wanted to say I'm still around! Jimmy Buffets just opened at Mohegan a couple of nights ago! I'm going to read the rest tonight- both kids are at a sleepover and Pierre is working- can you say :cloud9: :rotfl2:

I'm glad you were able to have such a good time with your family. Even short spurts of time in Disney World are awesome. I'd love to have the money to fly down for long weekends about every other month. That would be nice! Not gonna happen, though, not on a teacher's salary.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Start your countdown to next October! Magic Kingdom is beautiful in October!
