What song did you choose for the "first dance" at your wedding?

We danced to "I've Finally Found Someone" by Bryan Adams and Barbara Striesand.

We went to a friend's wedding about 3 years ago, and their first dance was the song from The Wedding Singer that Adam Sandler sang to Drew Barrymore on the plane. It was perfect for them!

Scotch & Soda
by the Kingston Trio

Scotch and soda, mud in your eye.
Baby, do I feel high,
oh, me, oh, my. Do I feel high.
Dry martini, jigger of gin.
Oh, what a spell you've got me in,
oh, my. Do I feel high.
People won't believe me.
They'll think that I'm just braggin'.
But I could feel the way I do
and still be on the wagon.

All I need is one of your smiles.
Sunshine of your eyes,
oh, me, oh, my. Do I feel high.

People won't believe me.
They'll think that I'm just braggin'.
But I could feel the way I do
and still be on the wagon.

All I need is one of your smiles.
Sunshine of your eyes, oh, me, oh, my.
Do I feel higher than a kite can fly.
Give me lovin', baby. I feel high.

OH, MY GOSH! This has been one of my favorite songs since I was a little girl. My dad just loved the Kingston Trio and listened to them all the time. He died a year ago March and I still can't listen to the CD's because it just brings him back so clearly. This is a great song for a wedding. My niece used "Turn Around" by them for her father/daughter dance.

Our song is In My Life by the Beatles. It's perfect for us because both of us have been married before.

" I love the Way You Love Me" John Michael Montgomery...found out belatedly that it was way too long of a song to dance to when hundreds of people are watching! :o

All I Want is You by U2. Our wedding was 7 years ago TODAY!! My Dad and I danced to Butterfly Kisses--my DH, mom and Sister came to join us after we were crying so hard together. The words in that song still make me cry--and take on a new meaning when I apply them to my DD!!

"Everything I Do, I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams on 8/6/1994

I haven't read through the whole thread yet but I love AT LAST...

I like the classic songs better than the more pop. ones now.

DFiance and I are trying to pick a song for our first dance on the beach after a small ceremony. We aren't having a traditional reception so we are just going to dance after the beach ceremony.

We are leaning towards "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison now.. I love that song too!

"I wanna wake up with you" by Johnny Rodriquez

DW let me plan most of the music at our wedding. I used Garry Owen as the reccesional from the church. Only my dad and her dad (both ex millitary) had any clue what I was doing.

Annie's Song by John Denver in 1980. That song still brings a little tear to my DH's eye. I, of course, all out cry.

The Dh had to beg my parents to take me on our first date july 17, 1985. He just got his drivers license and I wasn't allowed to date until I was 16 which was one year and 2 months away.

However, some how some way he was victorious and we went to see a movie ......St. Elmo's Fire......It was my first date and the first romantic moment I'd ever had.

Seemed only fitting 9 years later we would dance to the love theme from that movie........no lyrics but we honestly didn't need any because our wedding was a long time in the making with school and growing up together, I guess we sort of made our own lyrics.

Daddy and I danced to unforgettable (the duet) and cried.

On a side note I found out later that my mom and dad danced to a song from their frist date as well. freaky huh!

My parents celebrated their 25th anniversary at my wedding. They renewed their vows at my ceremony (now divorced!). They had a special dance at my reception to Johnny Mathis - Twelveth of Never, it was their song.

True Companion by Marc Cohn

DH played it for me early on in our relationship, and we danced to it in the living room. It was the perfect song - I knew right away that it was "our" song. :lovestruc

One of the songs that my cousin had in the prelude music for her wedding as Storybook Story from The Princess Bride soundtrack - I thought that was a great idea.

I also love In My Life by the Beatles, In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, and All My Life by K Ci and Jo Jo.

Our first song was "Chances Are" by Johnny Mathis and our last song was "It's Not For Me To Say", also by JM. We were only 22 and 24 when we got married (11 years ago), so it was kind of unusual for us to pick this.

Friends of ours got married in May, they danced to "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman.

First "Nothings gonna change my love for you"
Last "Friends and Lovers"

I can't remember who sang either one right now. Hey its been over 14 years what do you expect.:D .
