What size was your child in at 3.5?

My DS will be 3.5 in April and he is about 41" and around 33-35 lbs. I swear he hasn't gained any weight for 2 years!! He is one straight line...not a curve on his body and you can see almost every bone. We're having some food issues (control issues :rolleyes1 ) lately with him not wanting to eat what has been prepared. He wears mostly 3T clothes although pants are getting a bit short for him. But I can't go up to 4T for length because even the 3T's are falling off his behind! I can't wait for summer and shorts where it won't look like he's ready for the floods! :)

When DS's height was so out of proportion to his weight, and when he was done with diapers at about 2, we had to get a belt for his pants. No one knew they had belts, and if we hadn't searched and searched we wouldn't have found it. But we were either at Sears or JC Penney, looking in the bigger kids section (not the toddlers, but not preteens either), we found one of those belts with the woven/braided leather. No bored holes for the buckle, you just put the, um, pointy thing (LOL) in wherever you need it. It worked *beautifully*. I highly recommend them.

Can't find any online for kids, but we did find them in the store, older kids, accessory/belt section. :)

My dd is very petite! at 3.5, she is 28 lbs and 35.5 inches. She is just now outgrowing her 24 month pants! Her brother, who is 1/2 is only 3 inches and 3 lbs smaller than her. So funny how different they are.
To the previous poster with the belt problem, we had the same problem with dd as she potty trained really early so all of her pants were falling off her with no diaper. I actually considered finding a dog collar to use as a belt. I didnt think the belt would be great for newly potty trained kids though so we just rolled her pants at the top and did a lot of pulling up on them.

My girls are just tiny for their age. I don't know percentiles but they are very low.

My 4yo I think is "average". She is 39.5 inches tall I just measured her yesterday to see if she was going to be tall enough for rides this summer. lol and she weighs about 37-38lbs. So she is average I think, she wears a size 4, 4T

My 7yo is a peanut. She weighs LESS than the 4yo, at 35 pounds and she is only 42 inches tall. She still wears size 5 in all areas.

My 9yo is 55 lbs and wears a size 6x-7 for pants and a 6 for shirts. I just measured her too and she is exactly 48 inches tall.

My little one looks almost chubby next to the older girls.

My DS has always been BIG!
He is currently in 3rd grade and already 4'11!

When he was 3 people thought he was 5 or 6 because he was so tall!
He is currently in size 7 shoes..men!

His doctor predicted him to be 6'6" or6'7".

He not fat...JUST TALL

I have 2 average and 2 small kids. DD & Middle son have always been right at 50% for ht/wt. Oldest son and youngest have never even been on the charts. My 9 yr old is just hitting 50lbs and I think 4'1" (can't remember exact height. youngest was 4 in jan. He is just under 26 pounds and is 36 inches.

My son who turned 3 in December is small. He is 36 1/2" tall and weighs 27 lbs. 2T pants are shorter than I like and 3T is too long. He wears a 2T or 3T in shirts depending on the cut.
My 9 yr old daughter when she was 3 still wore 18-24 months!!!

My dd is a tiny peanut. She is 3.5 and weighs 26 lb and is 37 in. She wears a 3t for shirts and 2t for pants sometimes a 3t if the waistband is adjustable.

My 6.5 yr ds finally broke 40 lbs this week! I think he is 44 in. He wears a 6 slim.

All 4 of my kids are rail thin. Dh & I were very thin as kids.

Our DD is 3.5 right now. She weighs 32 pounds, is 41" tall and wears a size 4.

DD3.5 wears a size 4T pants. She is tall too so we need the length, but she can still fit into the 3Ts in the toosh and waist. Sometimes she grabs the ones (3Ts)that I have set off the side in her closet and puts them on- she looks like Erckel (anybody remember that show? :lmao:)

I get her a 4 in shirts too, because she has a long torso too. I think I might even start getting some 5s in shirts on some brands that seem to really shrink up (Oshkosh, Cherokee, Healthtex). The good stuff she is right in a 4- Gap, Gymboree, etc. though.

There was a bit of worry about that, but the potty-learning was completely self-led (our first hint that was was ready was that he wasn't waking up with a wet diaper EVER, and if he ever did need to pee at night he would wake us up (family bed) to use the potty). And we kept the dipes in use (we used cloth) for several months after it was plainly clear that he really was DONE, and only then did the final diaper-wash. :) And then realized the pants problem!

So because of the way he did things, we were pretty confident about the belt. That and he HATES wetting his pants, and will do just about anything to keep himself from doing so, including getting very loud when he has to go, so any accidents he has ever had were almost 100% our fault for not paying attention soon enough. :)

Our DS is 3.5 and he is on the small side. He is currently 32.5 lbs and 37.75 inches tall. He wears a 3T pants and 4T in shirts.

Hoping that he hits a major growth spurt before September.

At 3.5 my DS#2 was in a size 5 (or a big 4T). He was about 43" or more & about 42 pounds. He justed turned 4 and he is fully in a size 5 (just got rid of all the left over 4Ts)

My son is exactly the same way!!! My son is horrible when it comes trying to get him to eat too. :( The best pants to buy are one's that have the built in adjustable waist in them. That way you can get the length you need yet their pants won't be falling off them like crazy! :)

Yep, we have many of the adjustable waist pants. But, we have many that he looks like he'd fit in with the teenage crowd with the pants hanging off the behind showing the underwear. (Maybe that's not in style anymore...I am so old and un-cool).

To the PP that mentioned a belt, believe me, I've thought about it. DS is potty-trained but honestly, it's hard enough to get him to come out of his 3-year-old-world long enough to GET him to the bathroom that throwing a belt in there too may not be such a good idea.

Sweatpants with a tie worked for awhile...until he discovered his very own little plaything down there. ;) So, we had to go back to jeans so the access wasn't so easy! :rotfl:

THANK GOD for adjustable waist pants! I just had to take DD's back IN because she had a growth spurt and lost her belly. She always gets a belly before she shoots up so I'm forever taking her pants in and out! At 3.5 she was 41-42 inches and about 40 lbs. At 4 year check up she was a perfect square...42/42! She is now 44 lbs and 43 3/4 inches (just went to dr for a sick visit) at 4.5 Yup...she's big :) All she cares about is being able to ride Space Mountain in September. She asked the dr at her physical and again at her sick visit "dr...will I be tall enough to ride Space Mountain this year" Our pedi responded "Honey, the way you are growing...I'm going to say definately!"

My DD3.5 asked the same about Soarin' a few months ago! I kept telling her she was tall enough, two months ago she went through a little phase where I had to measure her almost everyday for a week. The stage ended after I took her to the docter and they measured her there, when the nurse told her she had hit the 42" mark she got all worried (knowing the height requirement was 40") saying "I'm 42 inches, but you have to be 40 inches to go on Soarin', does this mean I can't go?". :rotfl:

I feel bad though, my DD13 was sick so we never got her on!

Let him know it could be worse. Mine will be 10 in Nov. I bought him size 1 shoes just to make him feel better even though 13 1/2 still fit. he's 49 in and no where close to 55 lbs (the min weight to play in his football league)let alone 60. In fact, he signed up for lacrosse but has to goto practice to determine if he is big enough to play:eek:

My son isn't even 3.5 yet, he will be in the middle of April and he is already 42 inches tall. He wears XS shirts in boys, and 4-5T shorts and pants. He has always been tall, in the 95th percentile.
I have another son (they are 11 months apart), who just turned 2.5 this month, and he is probably 38-39 inches, and he wears 5T shirts, and 3T shorts and pants. He has also always been big. Which is weird b/c me and DH are average height.

My DD is 4.5 and is wearing 5-6 5T are too short and tight.
last summer she was wearing 5T shorts and Capris. was 41.5 inches at her 4 yr check up.

In Feb. we were at the museum and they were having a health fair she was 43.5 and 43 lbs. I bought her 6x shorts and tops for this summer. she wears 13 to size 1 shoes depending on the style

This is my boy, though he doesn't have food issues. He eats like a horse and doesn't gain weight. He's going to be three on Sunday, 39" tall and 31 pounds. His butt is concave. We have all adjustable waists on the tightest settings. All his pants at 3T for length (shirts too.) This summer he's wearing 2T in tshirts and shorts since the sleeves/legs don't need to be long enough! I'm praying for warm weather because his pants are getting too short.

I saw belts with magnets on the ends to help with the potty issues. And there's pants from Lands End that have an easy to use belt that we will look into next fall.
