My husband and I have been to Disney several times together before our son was born. Now that he is here I'm second guessing how much space we need. We also will be spending a lot more time in the room compared to before he was born when we were at the parks all day and really just needed a place to sleep. DS will be 2.5 on our next trip, would the three of us be fine in a standard room anywhere? We're not entirely sure where we are going to stay, it depends on the discounts. Right now we are thinking POFQ and a standard room at GF. We will be doing a split stay, 3 nights at each. DS is already pretty tall so I don't think he will be sleeping in a PnP anymore so we won't have to worry about squeezing that into the room.

In 2015 my little brother is coming with us again (he's an adult) We were so spoiled by having the family suite at AoA when he was with us this past May. We are looking at doing a split stay again between a moderate and a deluxe (trying to hit our goal of staying at all the resorts!) Again we aren't sure which ones, it depends on what kind of discount we can get. With 3 adults and DS who will be turning 3, what room type do we need? We will be spending a decent amount of time at the room and having resort days. While it was super awesome to have the second bathroom at AoA, I guess we don't need it. But wouldn't a standard room at a moderate or deluxe be pretty cramped with 3 adults and a toddler? I just don't know what our best bet would be. Renting DVC points is a possibility. I don't like the idea of getting 2 rooms anywhere because I know connecting rooms are not a guarantee. So any recommendations on what type of room or where would be a good place to stay for 3 adults & a toddler on property would be great. We're looking to do a split stay again. We're not against doing 2 deluxes instead of a mod/deluxe.

We have only stayed at moderates but you will be fine with 2 adults and a 2.5 YO in both the moderate and deluxe rooms - even with a pack-n-play. We did a King bed and DS in the pack-n-play when he was 19 months. If you don't think you will use the pack-n-play you could either do 2 Queen beds or bring an inflatable mattress for DS and use a King Size bed.

As for your other stay, I still think you would be fine with a standard room at a moderate or deluxe. We stayed with 2 kids in a moderate and yes, it is somewhat cramped but we are only there to sleep or rest.

We stayed at POFQ with two adults, a 5 year old and a two year old. I didn't feel cramped in there at all. We would go back to the room around lunch time for a couple hours for a rest. my DD2 mostly slept in the stroller, relaxing in the room was more for the adults. We have a third on the way and are still going to try POFQ with the four of us and a pack n play.

We have stayed at moderates and deluxes with 3 kids and have been more than fine. Multiple families do this every day.

If you want more space then I say spend the extra money. Two of our kids share one bed, and we bring an air mattress for the third. We do naps everyday. It isn't spacious but we also have stayed in a deluxe 2 bedroom and it wasn't worth the extra cost.

From my understanding, the standard rooms at the Poly are the largest standard rooms available at a WDW resort, besides DVC or a suite. That being said when I was a child, we even stayed at a value resort. It was me, my mom, my aunt & uncle, and it was just fine. With you, your dh and son, you will be fine with just about any room type.
