What shops would you like to open in your town?

For me it would be any business or restaurant that is local, supports the community, cares about and respects "all of their customers", and is not like a Walmart, Target, Starbucks and others with their tax abatements to build and one that takes, takes, takes and gives little in return.

I was on the Little League Board and those stores you mention are huge GIVERS to youth sports. Not sure everyone sees how much they invest in the communities they operate in.

Perhaps in your community, and that's a good thing; However, I was the president of our local chamber charities for 5 years and we couldn't even get Walmart to sponsor or give to anything in our community. Police no. Youth no. Not a thing. This dates back to the mid 90's, so perhaps things are different. That and I'll admit, I absolutely can't stand Walmart, but that is more on personal opinion.

The first Walmart didn't even open here until the mid-1990s, so they are the new kid on the block. They employ soooo many more people per store than the Union grocery store. It's been a win win here.

There are somethings I don't understand about the grocery business. Our local chain has 126 stores, and owns their own dairy. Their milk costs $1 a gallon more than Walmart. They bottle all the Great Value brand fluid milk for Walmart.....at a profit. So why is the same milk a dollar more in their stores?
