:tigger: Hi
It's our first trip to the World and I would like to hear from experienced WDW'ers what is best for walking, walking, walking...in hot humid July?

We've got five from 7 - 47 years of age...

For me, my regular pair of comfy sneakers work the best. I always bring a second pair with me as a back up just in case of intense rain, but my trustly sneaks are what get me around the World! :)

I've been to the park many times and have worn many different shoes. Here is a list of what I packed to bring (we leave tomorrow!!)

My New Balance sneakers (personally the best around)
NIKE flip flops (Yes, I actually wear these to the park. They are the foamy looking ones and are WONDERFUL!!!! I can go all day in those and they are lightweight and cool during the day!)
Crocs (Same as the NIKE flip flops!)

Hope this helps...just make sure they are broke in well!

I like to alternate my sneakers (K-Swiss Ascendor SLTs) one day with Crocs the next. I can't walk on marshmallows every day, but I can do it every OTHER day. :lmao:

I wore my comfy sneakers last June with no problems. I am bringing them and crocs this time around. I will be wearing my crocs with socks... they make my feet too hot without. Whatever you wear, break them in good before your trip. Buy bodyglide for hot spots to prevent blisters.

I've become a convert to Crocs. Last March I went with sneakers on Day 1 - my feet started to hurt halfway into the day. By Day 2 I had to ditch the sneakers for flip flops. Day 3 I alternated between sneakers (for support) and the flip flops.

Last October I wore sneakers first day (more pain - don't know what I was thinking), flip flops second day (some heel pain, but better than the sneakers), and Crocs the third day (no pain at all).

This past May I wore Crocs every day and only had heel pain the last day (day 5).

Crocs are it for me!

The only thing about the sneakers it's that you're walking all day in the sun... and you'll get burned (even if you wear sunblock) and your feet aren't gonna burn, you'll have to colors.. but there're the most confort thin to use.. in othr case, you can wear the sporty sandals of nike that are like sandals but not flip flops!!!

I hope my comment help

Hi,

I have been four times and I go in August when it is very hot.

I could not imagine wearing socks in that weather.

I wear sandels from Payless. I have three pairs. One is moe of an athletic sandel and the other two are casual dressy.

The main thing I do is wear them for the entire summer to break them in. The only trip I had a problem with blisters was because I didn't break in the new pair. As long as I break them in I never have troubles.

I wear sketchers mesh breathable slip on sneakers. They are so light, comfy and water proof. There are also a new pair that are called Sketcher Callies and are similar to crocs but no where near as ugly. Here is a pic of them. They have them in white too which is what I got.

I also trust my Nike flip flops on the more "non-commando" days like DTD, water parks, MGM (not a lot of walking.)

I have a lot of problems with my feet and have had the best results when I take a variety of good walking shoes and rotate to a different pair each day (and sometimes switch off during the day). My favorites are Merrell and Teva sandals and New Balance tennis shoes (with good, thick socks for extra cushion). For problems with blisters, I have used Bandaid Blister Blockers in the past by putting them on spots that I know are prone to blister and also used them on unexpected hot spots that have already begun to blister or get raw (I would pre-cut pieces of sterile gauze to place in the center of the blister blocker pad essentially turning it into a big bandaid). This didn't work as well on my last trip, tho, because the only blister blockers I could find were too small. Bandaid Tough Strips worked pretty well tho. Hope this helps.:)

My Teva Mush flip flops are the best! I like to alternate those with my favorite Nike's. Last summer, I tried wearing my Crocs to the parks for the first time. Never again! They are great for standing for long hours but NOT for lots of walking. They just don't have the ankle support I need. I ended up with very swollen ankles and calves.

I've always sworn by my Teva Mush flip flops, followed closely by Crocs. However, I tried a pair of Montrail Molokini flip flops I got at Zappos.com for my trip two weeks ago and fell in love with them. I think I've found the perfect Walt Disney shoe.

They are unbelievably comfortable, soft, cooshy, and have fantastic arch support. They have a little heel cup, so your foot doesn't slip around and fantastic treads on the bottom. You bake them in the oven, wear them around for a little while, and they form to every cm of your sole. Even the prints on your individual toes are formed into their footbeds. Go to zappos.com, take a look at them, and read the reviews.

For me, it's either my Merrell or Teva sandals. The are as comfortable as a pair of quality sneakers yet cool enough to wear all day! For any trips to water events, it's definitely Crocs Athens sandals\flip flops for me....I love them, but it would be hard to do a whole day in a park with them!

I have to agree with *Sooner Girl* about the Nike flip flops!!! I can walk all day at the parks and my feet don't hurt one bit! The thing between the toe is so soft and doesn't rub a blister! I also wear my Nike sneakers to switch it up. I am always thinking about Crocs, I haven't got any yet though!

i have yet to wear them at WDW but i have been wearing CROCS to local amusement parks and my feet feel great. i will also be bringing shoes (incase they"CROCS" don't feel good) better safe then sorry. in florida you have it all. heat, humidity, sun burns. long hours on your feet. tired kids and parents. try shoes that you like around home. break them in before you goto WDW.
just an idea from me LOL

Keen Balis for me. My feet used to get very hot and tired in running shoes but I have worn my Keens for 3 trips now and noticed a big difference. They are cool and waterproof.

I've always worn sneakers to amusement parks and my feet don't hurt, but get way too hot.

I worry about sandles and the rides? Does anyone have trouble keeping them on?

I have a great pair of Sketchers I'd love to wear.

My advice is, no matter which shoes you start out with in the morning, change them mid-day to something else. I often start with tennis shoes and change to flip flops or sandals for the evenings. Changing your shoes actually is more relaxing because you are changing the position of your feet. I think it also helps to wash my feet when I change my shoes. Cool, clean feet feel great! Just my $.02. :beach:
