What School Field Trips do you remember going on?

I've been on several fieldtrips. 2nd grade- National History Museum, 3rd grade- zoo, 4th grade- La Brea tar pits, 5th grade- Civil Rights Museum, 6th grade- live theatre productions, 8th grade- a touring Chinese museum exhibit. I liked the 2nd grade trip a lot. We played in the discovery room for a while and I fell in love with a green prairie dress. hehehe. I walked around in it the rest of the time we spend in that room, and the teacher even took a picture.

Festival of the Arts
several plays

I'm not sure you'd call it a field trip, but I went on a week-long Close Up tour in Washington DC when I was a Senior. Boy, did I learn a lot! Wonderful experience.

We went LOTS of places but my favorites were:

3rd-5th grade: Each year we would go on a 4 day trip to Catalina Island to do a bunch of marine "stuff"
9th grade: Bio-Camp.. the whole 9th grade class had a week long camping trip where we would cook our own food and do our own hikes and other "stuff" hehe
9th grade: Class trip to.........DISNEYLAND!!!!
11th grade: College trip.. half of the junior class when on busses up and down the california coast to look at colleges!

High School was sooo much fun for me. My freshman year, the band I was in went to WDW to do a parade at the Magic Kingdom for the Magic Music Days. My Sophomore year we competed in a parade in Williamsburg, Va. and then my Senior year we went back to Disney World just for the fun of it.....it was great being able to go and not having to worry about lugging all your uniforms, insturments, etc......great fun....I miss that...LOL

Oh, and I couldn't wait to be a seniior in HS - The trip was always to Hawaii!!!! They cancelled it in my Senior year I was also the last graduating class of my High School.

Well lets see.

1st grade-- Basto Village, NJ. I remember this because my mom was one of the chaperones

6-7th grade Academy of Natural Sciences SNORE-- in Philadelphia,

8th grade NYC.. I will truly treasure this trip, because we went to the World Trade Center Observation Deck.. (I have pictures). From the WTC, we went to Chinatown, and then somewhere else.


11- Went to see Cats when it was touring locally, and a ski trip.


I lived in a small rural area, so sometimes the field trips were walking tours of the town, walk to the library, walk to the bank, walk to the firehouse, etc.

There wasn't much exposure to the outside world beyond the town. I remember going to NYC, and some had never even been out of NJ...

Sheesh! That's a long time ago...LOL! I remember going to the Museum of Natural History, a few trips to NYC, Bear Mountain, roller skating trips. Those were in elementary school. In high school we had an overnight trip to the Pocono Mtns. We were the first Senior class mature enough to have an overnight trip! In business school we had a GREAT time when our Economics professor took us to the New York Stock Exchange, the WTC, and Fulton Fishmarket. That's my most memorable trip, and he was a GREAT teacher! He always had the best stories. Like the one about his sister driving her car and the steering wheel came off!

One trip stands out well in my mind.

The father of a kid in our class worked for Continental Bakery--maker of Wonder Bread. In 6th grade, he arranged for our class to come and tour the bakery.

One kid in our class was really crazy. Nowadays, he'd probably labeled ADD or something like that. Back then, though, the teachers just called him a nut.

Anyway, we were on a catwalk looking down at a giant open vat of bread dough, and Scott (the nut) throw a penny into it.

Oh, the uproar! The vat had to be emptied and cleaned, and the dough discarded.

Scott was in such trouble! Our teacher screamed at him the whole way back on the bus.

I laughed my head off. To this day, I crack up remembering it.
