What says "summer" to you? (feel good thread)

It's another gray day here in MI so I thought we could look waaaay ahead to summertime!

Besides we've had alot of threads take a mean turn lately so I figured we could all use a little pick-me-up.

So..... what says summer to you?

For me it's easy:
fresh fruit (strawberries and watermelon YUM)
ice cold lemonade
and roasting marshmellows over a bonfire

Oh, I almost forgot! Flip-flops! I am the flip-flop queen. (I hate wearing boots)

Freshly cut grass and, when I was younger, getting to go outside to play *after* dinner. During the schoolyear dinnertime meant I was home for the rest of the night--not during the summer! It was great...

The smell of Coppertone, hearing Beach Boy music (even in winter it feels summery to me), smelling foods cooking on BBQs, and while the smell of fresh cut grass does it too, I notice I'm developing allergies as I get a little older and it drives me crazy!

Eating cantelope in the warm summer sun.

This isn't a pleasant thought but going into your car and it being about 50 degrees hotter than it is outside. Once that happens you know its summertime.

You'll never believe it but as I was sitting here typing on another thread I noticed it getting lighter in the room. I peeked outside and the sun was out! I actually saw blue sky for the first time in at least 2 weeks!! I just sat there staring in awe at the sky. (Think Will Smith watching the alien ships arrive in Independence Day.)

It's kinda pathetic to be so excited over seeing blue sky. You'd think I won the lotto!

Anyways keep up the happy summertime thoughts!

Summer for me is the last day of school, Kenny Chesneys' Be As You Are cd, Cape Cod, hearing the ice cream truck go by, long, sunny days.

The smell of cutting the lawn.

Playing in the yard when dh gets home from work.

Walking to the ice cream shop (in our old neighborhood :-( Im not athletic enough to walk to the closest one here).

Little swimmers and wet swimsuits.

Warmth says summer to me. Deep down to the bone warmth. The kind of warm where you just bask in it and you roast inside. The kind of warmth where the sun is beating down on you and you absorb it all in. The warmth where there isn't a single part of your body that is anything but warm. I can't wait till summer is back and I can be truely warm again.

We're having a "warm" day here in Baltimore. But if I had my way it would be 90+ degrees outside with a fair amount of humidity.

How can you read these posts and not smile?

Last winter this is the song that helped me get through the dreary days. This is embarrasing to admit by the way. I'm not an Aaron Carter fan but this song was on my DD's old CD and I like it. It's long so this is only some of the lyrics...
