What says "summer" to you? (feel good thread)

My kids home from school day in and day out fighting like cats and dogs!v I really look more forward to the END of summer when they go back to school!

Okay, you had to go and burst my bubble didn't ya?!
Ugh, that's the one thing I always forget about while I'm wishing for the lazy days of summer. They drove me nuts over X-mas break. Don't know how I'll make it through summer. Then again I'll just send them outside all day, crank up some music and sip my lemonade. Yeah right. lol

Summer always conjures up memories from my childhood.

Going to the community pool with all my friends.
Eating popsicles outside.
Playing kickball in the street.
Spinning on the swings to see who'd get dizzy first.
Learning to swim at my best friends house.
Running through the sprinkler.
Never wearing shoes outside.
Jumping in the rain puddles in front of my house.
Camping out on my trampoline.
Racing our bikes down to the lake.
Sunburns
Flip flops
slip and slides
cucumber salad
kool-aid mustaches

Painting my toenails baby blue, coral, purple or gold.

Walking through the park at twilight when it is 8:45 pm.

The sound of ciccadas (as long as they don't fly into me)

Eating ice cream for breakfast just cause you can.

Let's just say, I crave the Sunny D commercial! LOL. Seeing the kids on the beach in their bathing suits...THAT is summer to me.

Summer time to me is:

Sitting on the deck for almost every meal
Flip flops! In every color!
Fire flies
Our annual historical 4th of July parade
The sound of the summer bugs that make the funny humming noise at night
The sun roof open
Hearing the skimmer on the pool
Fresh fruit salads
Sitting on our porch swing for hours
Having 'fire night' where DH & I use our outdoor fireplace and sit outside all night and talk
Water-fire-RI lights fire pits in its river that runs through the city on special Saturdays and everyone goes to watch.
The kids in the pool
The suntan line I get from wearing my sun glasses while driving
Fresh brewed ice tea
Ice Cream truck. He starts the first warm day the season has to offer

I love summer. Actually, I love all the season the NE has to offer.

Sitting outside and feeling the sun warm me.

Last summer we bought a pit (which is full of snow now) and most nights we lit it and roasted marshmallows and made smores. It was great......... smelling roasted marshmallows now.....

Strawberries used to be the 'it's summer' thing for me...that and fresh corn at the farmstands. I have to get used to Strawberries announcing "it's winter", lol.
