My husband is 6ft 7 inches tall and about 270lbs (bigger guy but I wouldn't say pooh sized because he is pretty fit. I seen alot of thread and stuff about pooh sized recommendations and what not but what about just the Tall people.

He has extremely long legs and a bad knee and doesn't like to do alot of rides especially ones that have shoulder restraints Bc he says it kills his shoulders & back and he feels they dont come down far enough to feel secure. He also probably shouldn't do anything that could really put a strain on his knee (he is ok to be walking and what not on it he is a full time firefighter so he really does put alot of strain and stress on it on a daily basis but I don't think he needs to be on anything that will have him super crammed up with a possibility of hitting his knee. (a swollen knee is the last thing we want )

So what rides would you recommend him avoiding?

I have also read there will be rides with a shared lap bar that him and myself (im very very petite) (or our 8yr old daughter) will want to avoid riding together bc the restraint wont be properly adjusted for us. Anyone think of any right off hand?

Right off hand I would say Mission Space might not be ideal since it is enclosed

My first thought was Space Mountain. I'm just average height and have a hard time sometimes getting out of those cars.:rotfl: My elderly mom has bad knees, but can ride most rides at WDW. However, there is no way she could ever get out of one of the Space Mountain cars, so she just avoids that ride.

My DH is 6'6" with a bad knee too. He can't do Space Mountain because of the leg room in the vehicle and the low ceiling in the tunnels. He also avoid BTMRR because it bangs his knees around. On some rides it is best for him to sit in the front (like POTC) because there is more leg room and others it is better in the back. But all in all, he can ride most of the rides and come out none the worse for wear.

Oh, I would avoid Stitch as it has automatic shoulder restraints that come down pretty tight. They are supposed to stop when they contact your shoulders, but DH said it was pretty uncomfortable for him throughout the "ride".

Have a great time!!

I'm 6'4 and find that on Space mountain there is more legroom in the 2nd and 3rd seats. Just a thought it you still want to give it a shot.

Thanks I will have him keep that in mind... Although i fear he is gonna be on his own on some of these rides anyways. I get Motion Sick and Daughter is still kinda chicken (so we will see what she rides)

My hubby is 6'7"/300lbs. I admit we haven't been on every ride together, but the only one I can think to absolutely avoid is Astro Orbiter. I could barely squeeze onto that one with my much smaller SIL.

Im not even sure what that ones is (have to look that one up) But ill add that to the possible skip list as well

I agree on avoiding Astro Orbiter in Magic Kingdom... I think in general it's very uncomfortable on how you need to sit, so if you are very tall... I would assume it would be even worse!

Thanks for the info. I have never thought of it, that a tall man can have some trouble in few rides.

Space Mountain, Mission Space, maybe the Fantasyland rides like Dumbo just in case he really wanted to.:lmao:, RNRC at HS & Exp Everest in AK seemed kind of tight to me too legwise?

At 6'4" I have found the following rides a bit of trouble.

At the Magic Kingdom:

1) Haunted Mansion's Doom buggies, they bang my knee almost everytime if I don't pay close attention.

2) Space Mountain, Front seat no leg room, and because of the dark I never stick my hands up.

3) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, alittle tight.

4) Pooh and Peter Pan might be a bit tight.

5) I have not been on Alandin's Carpets or Astro Orbiter

At Epcot:

1) Steping down into car at Test track is odd for everyone and I believe the Front of the car offers a bit more legroom.

2) Mission Space is a very tight space.

3) The Clams in the Nemo also close toward the knees

At Disney's Hollywood Studios

1) Rock'n Roll Rollercoster has shoulder restraints

At Disney's Animal Kingdom

1) Expidition Everest very tight seating area

As long as your husband pays attention when getting on a ride I really don't think he will have to much trouble.

My dad is 6' 7" and for my entire life he has told the story of when he rode Space Mountain and had to duck so he didn't lose his head. While I seriously doubt this is actually true, he was scared enough at the time to warn anyone who will listen for about 30 years now.

You also brought up sharing a lap bar and worrying if his height will keep it from securing the other rider.

Most if not all lap bars are to keep you from purposely climbing out of a car not to keep you from flying out, physics does that. They only added lap bars to Splash a few years ago because to many people were trying to do stupid things like move from seat to seat.

In the roller coaster world those parts of the ride are called Head choppers for a reason. :lmao:

Though people have posted that a very tall person with long arms can touch the roof on the lift hill.

Dh is 6'7" with long legs. He doesn't do space mountain but he just thinks its too jerky. Other than that he fits in everything even mission space. Some seats are better than others, like in Rock and roller the front seat of each car is better.

I was just reading all these to my husband and when I got to the Head Chopper ducking post he was like Nope nope nope not going on that. He did inform me one time that he had his hands up on what i assumed was a wooden rollercoaster and caught a nail that i guess was sticking out a little .... it required a few stitches and now he says he never sticks his hands up!

Our family is short, short, short! I know the issues we face.

I learned something today. I learned that a tall person has issues also. I have always worshipped tall people. I felt that since they could reach everything in our homes, stores, etc - they couldn't possibly have a care in the world. Legs can be too long - just as bad as not being able to reach the cereal or coffee you need. I guess nothing is perfect. :goodvibes

Oh I am super short 27 yrs old almost 28 and 4ft 9in tall! Our daughter at 8 yrs old is only 7 inches shorter than me! ( They wont even allow me to drive my daughter on a double go cart bc I am to short! Stupid I can drive a vehicle without any problems or needing anything special but i cant drive a double go cart :confused3)

My husband hates being so tall! Just like I hate being so short! We have the same problems.
Clothes dont fit right we have to buy him 3xlt's to get them long enough and then they are way to big around through the armpits and stuff and if they go into the dryer they usually no longer fit if they are cotton (they show his belly if he raises his hand) Around he could wear 2XL with it being roomy if the only made them in long (bc they barely come to the top of the waistband)rarely I can find them special order !
He has big feet size 15 ( shoe store usually has 2 pair if lucky in stock) some shoes they dont even make them that big!
I wear 5's same thing most shoe stores stock 6 and up alot of shoes you cant even order in a 6!

My hubby bless his heart he is a fireman and I cant tell you the amount of times he has hit his head on stuff while on calls because his boots add about 2 inches in height and his helmet probably another 3 or so! He forgets sometimes when he comes home and comes into the bedroom with his boots on(barefoot he is fine) and hits his head on the ceiling fan! ( i snicker but i know it has to hurt)

My husband claims he cant see anything down low he is forever looking for stuff in the fridge or cabinets and what not and i walk right over and get it and he says I couldn't see it!

And I dont even want to talk about sprinkling when you pee! :rolleyes1

We are definitely an odd am memorable couple but I tell everyone we are the perfect balance for each other!
