What parks to tackle, where to stay for onsite days

Hi all

My initial plan was to stay onsite at Disney for 9 days. For a variety of reasons, we are now offsite for a week and will have 2 onsite days.

We have 6 day non-hopper tickets and are going in late Jan/early Feb.

We will do
2 days HS
2 days MK
1 day EP
1 day AK

I was originally hoping to be able to take advantage of deluxe extended hours, but now won't be able to as we will spend Thursday and Friday night onsite. Park days of Friday and Saturday.

We used to be RD people, but I think we will now sleep in a bit and arrive later (by 10 am) and leave at close.

My first thought was to stay within walking distance to HS and EP and hit those two parks, seeing the night shows at both. That way we don't have to deal with leaving the parks at close after fireworks and trying to catch a bus with everyone else, as we would walk back to the hotel. But now I'm second guessing and wondering if we should make one of those days an MK day to avoid the whole TTC fiasco. But, that would mean fighting with the hoards for busses after fireworks there. Is that really much better than going to the TTC and getting our car?

We haven't been since 2019 and I know a lot has changed. Any thoughts on the best way to maximize our 2 park days when we are onsite? We will pay quite a bit for those nights so I want to get the most out of them. We may be able to do RD to close the first day but I doubt the kids could handle RD the second day if we did that.

TIA

I’m going to leave this up on this board til you get some responses then moving it to the Theme Park Plans board.

The TTC has trams running again. And there’s 2 tram boarding areas. One for the villain’s lot and one for the hero’s lot. So if you park at TTC, you need to make sure you get in the right tram line.

I haven’t seen trams running at Epcot any of the times I’ve been there. So be prepared to walk to and from your car there.

When it’s working properly and there isn’t a thunder storm, which in January shouldn’t have: the Skyliner is a nice mode of transportation to and from Epcot and DHS. You might consider a Skyliner resort. Pop century would be the most affordable.

Be sure to read and understand the Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane threads that are pinned at the top of the theme park board. There are no free FP+ anymore.

Also be sure to read the Virtual Queue thread if you plan to ride Guardians of the Galaxy or Tron.

Stay at Contemporary on your MK days. 10 minute walk to hotel, no bus, boat, or monorail needed.

Hmmm. That's an option. Then we'd probably want to do the MK 2 days in a row. Was hoping to split them up. But will keep this in mind!

I would do MK. It’s open late. It’s also easier to drive to the other parks when you’re offsite, especially HS and AK. If you also do EP then do EP Friday MK Saturday.

Two days at mk at onsite hotel or 3 park days of dhs/epcot at onsite epcot area hotel, right? I think for me it would come down to budget and from knowing what I know, chances are the epcot area walkable/boat resorts will be less money than the monorail resorts so my choice would likely be stay onsite for your 3 days at epcot/dhs. MK and parking at TTC is really not that bad. We often stay at Swan/Dolphin resorts and that's a pretty convenient location for DHS/EP between walking and the boats. And if you were to be at those parks for EEH, if offered, you'd get them.

Even staying onsite, it's not necessary to RD Ep/DHS to do a good bit in these parks, especially if you plan to buy G+/iLL$/use VQ.
