What packaging is hardest to open?

Pickle jar

It's actually pretty easy. Slap the bottom a few times and it helps to loosen the seal a bit. Works the same for any kind of sealed jar with a vacuum, including home jarring. However, once I hit a jar of sauce too hard and the glass broke.

A technique but not the real deal.

Preface: definitely clamshell plastic packaging is the WORST, but @Disneefun already said it.

I really like Dawn Powerwash. And I just bought a refill pack and for the life of me I cannot get the refill bottle lid off. It won't budge!

And the foil security seals on medicine or food products are a pain. You can't simply peel them off in one swipe, and you can't even start on the edges because whatever glue they use is permanently attached to the bottle. You have to puncture the center and peel that way. Once in a while you'll get lucky and get it all at once - but usually it is a piece of foil here, another piece there, etc.

That ridiculous clamshell plastic. You need half the toolbox to cut into it, and then you end up stabbing your hand with either the plastic itself, or the scissors/knife or whatever.

This is the one. I got a little knife thingee that was made for it.....just run it around and lift off.

I bought a pair of heavy duty, all purpose, cut-through-everything scissors from the dollar store to cut though two sides of the plastic. That's usually enough to pull the item out. I do have to make sure when cutting the plastic to round off the corners of the plastic. Otherwise I will end up stabbing myself. :crazy2:

I'm gonna jump in with one of my own - Progresso soup cans. One time I was having the hardest time pulling hte ring, and I thought, "Man, I'm gonna cut myself on this thing!" Sure enough, it pulled open and sliced my finger good! I actually wrote in to complain and they asked if any of the soup was leftover - I told them that I ate it and that I didn't want anything otehr than for them to fix their packaging. A few weeks later I got some coupons in the mail for free soup. 🙄 Yeah, that's great - if only I could open it without injuring myself!

I used to think that "On the Border" salsa jars were impossible to open. I ended up getting a jar opener at a thrift store. Eventually I discovered that if you will wedge a butter knife between a jar a little bit and twist it, it will break the seal and make any jar easy to open.

a kids toy.
like a mega water shooter.
there aren't any less than 12 tiny plastic lockdowns that are harder than H*** to snap / cut with a scissors
