I wasn't insulted that my friends nominated me for the show, they had already been insulting my style to my face for years

Thanks and hello! Yes, doing the show was a blast. I almost cried when the week was over!

Last night I was flipping through all the upcoming What Not To Wear episodes on my cable guide so that I could set a reminder for your episode. My husband was like, wow, you really want to watch that particular episode, huh? (I had to scroll through about 15 to get to yours) I told him that it was a girl from the disboards so I had to watch it, and he just started cracking up laughing. I think he thinks I belong to a cult...

Yeah my DBF thinks it's hilarious that I spend so much time on here! Anytime I add something to our itinerary or buy something new for our trip, he says "Are you going to go post about this on DISBOARDS?"

Subscribing. Loved your WNTW thread and really looking forward to this one!

Thanks and hello!

I have never actually been to the Adventurers Club. When I worked at Disney I would go to PI every week (they had a night that was free for cast members) but I was only 20 so I couldn’t get into all the clubs. (I assumed at the time that the AC was 21+.) Mostly I spent time in 8Trax dancing around to 80’s music. I am fond of dancing. Except I'm not very good at it, so it is usually more like stumbling.
Or I'd be spending my PI time at the jazz club (remember the jazz club, Pleasure Island Jazz Company, that pre-dated Raglan Road? I was so sad when it closed! But it was pretty empty every time I went. :( ) I have only been back to PI once since then, and my cousin and I just visited Comedy Warehouse.
I have been curious about going to the AC for the past couple years after reading so many trip reports where people were going on and on about how delightful it is. I am glad I’ll have the chance to check it out before PI gets shut down! Hopefully Crystal (wdwpolyprincess) will have time off from her busy workweek to go with Jakkie and me. She is truly an AC expert and the person who really got me interested in it.
Crystal’s friend Katie recently asked me to write a little piece for a scrapbook she is making for all the AC cast members when the club closes (a really grand idea). I agreed to, then discovered that it’s really hard to write about a place I have never been! Here’s what I sent her:

After countless trips to Disney World (one of which lasted over four months - thank you WDW College Program!), I have to confess: I have never actually set foot inside the Adventurers Club. My initial defense was that I have only been to Pleasure Island once since turning 21, but further investigation reveals that the Adventurers Club is not 21+. Huh. I had always assumed.
It was good timing that I arranged a WDW trip for August 2008, with a block of time scheduled into my Excel spreadsheet vacation itinerary (yes, I'm one of those people) to finally visit Adventurers Club. I became intrigued after encountering countless Adventurers Club fans who were aghast that I had never shouted "KUNGALOOSH!" at Emile Bleehall while slowly getting drunk in a library. "Emile who?" I usually responded.
I will credit my friend-of-the-internets, Ms. Crystal, with truly getting me excited about AC, after hearing several stories of her trips there (many of which involved something called 'Hoopla'...the word alone sounds like guaranteed fun). Her raving about the Kungaloosh beverage inspired me to attempt making it at home (mission failed when I couldn't find a liquor store in the tri-state area that carried blackberry brandy). Even watching wobbly low-quality internet videos of the Colonel singing the Beer Song didn't make me feel like I was really there.
Luckily, my 2008 trip to WDW falls just weeks before the majority of the clubs on Pleasure Island shut down for good. So I will be able to finally experience the club that I've heard so many fantastic things about. Hopefully I won't like it too much, because it looks like I may not get to return. But I have to take my chance to join the maid for a sing-a-long. And see if this Hathaway Browne guy is really as attractive as everyone says he is. And try the elusive blackberry brandy beverage. Five of them!

All caught up here - your trip is fast approaching!

Loved all the pictures of your pictures. I am HORRIBLE with getting my pictures into albums. I just started organizing all my Disney pictures and am determined to do something with them. My problem is I always think I'll do a nifty scrapbook or something but never get to it - and really I know I never will. I don't have the time or crafting abilities. So, seeing you album inspired me to just get the pictures in an album - I'll feel so much better!

Your trip plans sound wonderful! Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

subbing! Love the PTR so far!:goodvibes
We Will be at WL during the same dates- hope to see ya around!

Yes I am the same way - I am really not crafty at all. If I hadn't started this pre-trip report I don't think I ever would have thought to even print out pictures from my last two trips!

Cool! I'm hoping to run into a few DISers while there. I picked up the lime green mickey heads over the weekend and made a few to stick on my bag. Pretty simple - I just wrote PHILADISNEY on them in sharpie and i'll stick laminating plastic on them at some point. Like I said, not crafty!

Finally saw it!!! It was great!! Your adorable <3

Thanks! I had so much fun.

Jumping in here too! I love the Wilderness Lodge and cant wait to see your pictures.

I don't get to the pre-trip board, but I am glad I found you!!

It is so wierd to see someone on tv and actually be a DIS member.

Hope you have a great trip. Let me know when you get back, and I'll move you to our regular board.

Thanks! Where did you work at WDW? That is so neat that you met your husband there too! I dated a guy I met on the CP for years....we eventually broke up but are still very good friends. Jack and I went to his wedding in Maryland last year!

I worked at the towers between Mexico and Canada on the origional CP. It was so much fun. My absolute best friend in the world was my roommate from the CP too. Dont you just love all of the people you meet working at Disney? :goodvibes

Thanks for reading! I just started!

I am excited - I just got off the phone with my Aunt. She lives about 45 minutes from me and I try to visit several times a year (sooo much closer than my parents - they are six hours away!). She and her husband have decided to renew their vows, and they are doing it at...Disney World! My uncle has a conference at the Swan for a week, so they decided to go down a few days early and renew their vows there. It's a small ceremony - just them and my two cousins, who are 19 and 10. I wish I could go, but it's just a week after I get back from WDW myself!

My aunt and uncle called me asking for advice - they haven't been to WDW since 1995. My younger cousin has never been there. They will be there on his 11th birthday, so I told them all about getting a birthday button and ordering a cake at the restaurant they eat at that day. I also gave them the phone number for making dining reservations and suggested they call RIGHT AWAY - they didn't realize they would need ADR's. And it's only a month away!

I suggested Victoria & Albert's for a special dinner after the vows, as well as Yak & Yeti for their Animal Kingdom day and Le Cellier for their Epcot day. I don't know if they will make it to DHS because they will only have three days there together, and my cousin loves water parks, so they will spend part of his birthday at one of those. I directed them to a website to learn more about the parks and restaurants, especially the menus - my younger cousin can't eat wheat, and my older cousin is vegetarian.

Next Sunday I am going to visit them - partially to hang out at the pool with my awesome aunt and drink margaritas ;) - but also to bring them the Disney planning DVDs for us to watch together. I have the most recent one but I really love the one from a few years back with the four hosts. I love Dave and his benches. He cracks me up. And are you ready for a blasphemous statement? I love Erin....way more than Stacy. I am not a Stacy fan. Also my younger cousin is a skateboarding fanatic, so I think he'll like Luke. We'll just have to ignore how out of date it is ("EXPEDITION EVEREST: COMING SOON!")

Hooray, I am delighted to have people to talk about WDW with as the trip gets closer! :teeth: Two weeks from this moment I will be running out to Jellyrolls or to Downtown Disney!

I was amazed at all the people I met working at WDW who were from all over the world! I am still friends with the girl who was my best friend while living down there, she is a pre-school teacher in Arkansas. We went to Disneyland together a couple years ago.

Thank you Marisa!!

So Cool! How exciting for your aunt and uncle!!!!!!!!

I know - I think it's such a great idea! I can't wait to talk to them about it this weekend. I should call her today actually because I was so excited when she told me that I reeled of a ton off information for her, and realized later some of it was incorrect :headache: I told her that they can use Magical Express (apparently Swan/Dolphin cannot!) and that the restaurant at the Swan is Spoodles. Oops!

I know that really is the best thing about the whole experience, the friends you meet!

How awesome for your aunt and uncle! :cool1: Sounds like your cousin will have a great 11th birthday because of your suggestions!

OMG! I totally LOVE those vacation planning video's too! I LOVE DAVE "Get in the Photo!!!" We always quote that. :rotfl2: Erin is very cute and my son loves Luke. I forgot the name of the girl who does the young children but she is so sweet too. They are fun videos to watch and get us really excited for our trip. I actually like them better than the "dream" version!

How fun for your aunt and uncle! Maybe you can just extend your trip for another week and join them! Don't you just love when you find an opportunity to discuss Disney plans with someone - so fun!
