What makes you decide to stay at a value, mod, or deluxe?

I always stay deluxe because the look of the value resorts isn't my thing, I do not like outside corridors (reminds me of motels) so that also rules out moderates and we usually have 5 people per room. Plus, we always tend to take a break during the day and the amenities of the deluxe resorts along with the room size work the best for me/us

Well, I see you say besides money, but that's always our main consideration when planning a vacation. We have stayed all levels from Value to Deluxe Club Level. It all depends on how much money we have to spend on that particular vacation! That being said, we definitely would rather do a week at CSR or POR over less days at a deluxe, or club level for example. We are very lucky that we have a friend who is a CM so we get a friends and family discount on accommodations so that helps, but it still depends on the ol bank account. :goodvibes

Just wanted to add, if money were no object, you better believe we would be doing as many days, deluxe, club level, the whole 9! However that just isn't our reality every trip :goodvibes:goodvibes

Our resort choice up until around 2004 has been based on where we are comfortable. Since then it is based on cost. I feel Disney is pricing themselves out of reach for many middle class families (myself included). We have started driving to Disney more (airfare vs. $200 fuel cost for round trip) now so staying off site & renting a 3+ bedroom house with private pool is about the same cost as a non-discounted value resort. At a vacation home I have a lot more room to relax, I drive my car so no car rental, better dining options & no parking fee at Disney with an AP. I understand Disney is trying to ween the public off discounts but I can honestly say that I will never pay rack rate for POR. There are waaaayyyyyy too many cost effective options off site. We are beyond wanting to be "emmersed in the magic of Disney" every minute of the day.

I only stay at WDW when all the stars allign in that free dining is offered. Room prices are so expensive, that my favourite option is staying off site at WH. Girls trips with shared accommodations, ME and FD are the only exception to the WH rule! :thumbsup2

We generally stay at a value because we're never in our room long enough to care about it. However, we planning on taking a two week WDW vacation next year, as we are getting married/disneymooning there, and we will be staying at a deluxe. Thanks to some DVC rentals.

I prefer the moderates because the theming at the values is too in your face for my taste. Plus I like having a restaurant on the premises or nearby and the other extra amenities are nice too.

I would also gladly stay in a deluxe but only for a good price. I don't think that they are worth the extra money otherwise. We are also OK with staying offsite if the price and resort is right.
