Okay, I have been lurking for almost a year now, but I have to admit that what made me finally "commit" was irritation at another post! How bad is that?:scratchin So...my question is what first brought you here and convinced you to sign up?

Nice meeting everyone,

Tess

welcome to the DIS..
Catsrule(coworker of mine) kept talking about this place and I finally tried it out and have been jooked since...:D

I was looking into stuff about the DCL, and wanted to ask questions...so....I joined :)

I had questions also and wasn't swift enough to use the search function! Welcome!

Have to admit that irritation does bring me out of the lurcking mode sometimes too! Usually, I check in just to see how everyone is doing. I feel like I know some of the folks here who have shared so much of their lives.

When my friend Mermaid and I were planning our Disney Cruise (which seems like forever ago) she told me about the DIS and that I should register. She even came up with my user name!!

Tess, welcome to the dis. A while back, oh about 5 years or so, I was trying to figure out where to go for vacation. I came upon this site and lurked for quite a while. Oh about 2 weeks. I happened upon some kind of debate and I had to respond. So I registered. ::yes::

I needed Universal/IOA information, and I had questions. Had never been there before. When I realized there was a whole crew of people like me...obsessed with Disney, I kept posting even after the trip was over.
Welcome!!!!

Pins! I'd been hit by the pin bug and needed a place to learn about them...I settled here after visiting about 3 other boards...now I hardly ever go to the pin board!~

:flower3: Thanks for the Welcome! It kinda feels wierd to not be lurking! I will have to go find a picture and everything! I am so excited. It is almost like shopping!

I was planning our first trip to WDW and needed some help. That was back in July 2001. Now I am hooked! :hyper: I love this board! It is my place to escape! :teeth:

Welcome Tess! You are one of us now. :wave2:

"Resistance is futile" :p

I bought the Unofficial Guide to WDW and came across references to Mousesavers there. On Mousesavers, I came across the link to the DIS and was instantly hooked. I immediately planned a vacation and registered to share my excitement with others.

Funny thing is, I joined another WDW messageboard at WDWMagic.com. I posted maybe twice there and got into instant arguments with other posters. I didn't think it was a great MB at all. Here people are kind, knowledgeable and friendly. There I just didn't feel very welcome.

I was "thinking" of booking a trip, after posting a few questions and reading A LOT, I have my plane, hotel and car reservations about 4 hours later!

You guys are all great!

:sunny:

I was planning another trip to the World and wanted more info cause we hadn't been in 5 years. I've also been hooked ever since. :teeth:

I was planning a trip to IOA and found the Universal Studios Forums. After that I started looking around and got hooked on the Community Board.

I have just figured out why this was a bad idea! I have spent the last hour monitoring the answers to my question! I can't get anything done! Aack!

Like someone else said, pure irritation drove me to dive in and post after two years of "lurking".

A question was posted on the Debate Board: "Giving Birth . . . Is it really THAT hard?" (by a man, I might add - yeah, like HE'D know!). A regular childless poster known for making denegrating remarks about kids and parents started in again, stating that giving birth couldn't be as hard as performing brain surgery, climbing a mountain, or running a marathon because those things were HARD (giving the clear implication that giving birth wasn't).

Had to join into the fray . . .

Fortunately, most threads and DISers are MUCH more pleasant than that one was!

First off Welcome to the DIS :happy2:

What made me first register and post was that someone had given a negative review of a tour that my DH and I had taken, so I wanted to let people who were considering taking the tour that we had enjoyed the tour and not to let one negative comment change their mind.

We were plannign a trip to WDW and I was posting at another message board (can't rememebr which one now) and found a link here and was skeptical that it wouldnt be as good as "mine".

It was very soon that I was posting here exclusively. :teeth:

We got our first computer right before Christmas in 2000. It was a Gateway and came with free AOL for a year. Having never been on the internet before I did a search for Walt Disney World web sites and Deb Wills site came up. I really thought this was a nice site and she had links on there to other Disney websites. That's how I found the Dis. The first time I stumbled upon the Community Board I saw a thread by Dan Murphy about his trip to WDW and how he was sitting with a lady from Wausau Wisconsin on the plane. Well being from Wisconsin myself, I thought that this was pretty neat having people from my area on this website! I had to respond to Dan about how much I liked his photo's and have been here ever since! It's kind of funny now that I consider Dan and Marie friends of mine and my DW's!::yes::
And welcome to the Dis Tess!:sunny:
