What made you first register and post?

Welcome to the DIS.

I got hooked because of my mom. She was planning her first DCL and was always on the boards reading. I would make fun of her and give her a hard time about always being on the DIS. I thought she was crazy because even after her cruise she was still reading the boards. She met some DISers on the cruise and they have been friends ever since. I started to lurk on their thread and eventually started reading all the other threads. I am now hooked and she mocks me and gives me a hard time for harassing her back then.

I was helping a co-worker plan a trip and was looking online for any information I could find. When I typed in Disney Information this site popped up as a choice so I chose it. Read A LOT and then I posted. I WAS TERRIFIED!!!! You hear all these spooky things about people on the internet. But it turned out everyone was great and no question was a dumb question. I was thrilled that someone actually read it and responded.

I joined in 2000. We just came back from an Easter WDW trip and were going again for my birthday in September.

I really started to come to the community board around Sept 11th. I wanted to hear what "normal" people were saying. I hate the AOL boards where there are some completely crazy people just wanting to post anything.

As in real life, I don't post much, just if I feel I really "need" to jump in.

Welcome:bounce: we have similar posts #'s

I lurked for about a month, while I was purchasing DVC, and am hooked too :badpc: I love sharing ideas with others with similar intrests esp. Disney...DH says I am hopeless:chat:

Actually I was planning a trip for my brother and his family and just happened on this site.........and as you can tell, I never left it!!!:teeth:

Welcome, btw!!

I was (and still am) planning a 4th trip to WDW to help stave off winter/2nd trimester of 4th pregnancy doldrums and stumbled onto the DIS through MouseSavers I think. I had some questions about staying on-site and what meals were appropriate for young kids (I want to take my 6 y.o. DD to the GF Afternoon Tea). I got those answered, then started reading the Community board and discovered there were people who obsessed just as much about WDW as me. I'm usually a lurker, but got tired of the "Welcomed Guest" label and challenged myself to post enough to become a DIS Veteran. Once I had done that...I couldn't stop. :D

We were looking to go to Disneyland and we'd never been there. I wanted advice on how to make the most of our trip :D

I agree with Pete's Mom... Resistance is futile!! I started lurking in January when I found the boards when planning a trip to WDW. Tried to hold out, but eventually, I HAD to join. Could not resist! It just looked like too much fun!

I was pointed this way by someone at biddingfortravel.com back in Feb. I finally posted when I had just too many questions. Plus, I am a curious soul...gets ya into trouble sometimes, I know...:rolleyes1 hehehe

I still have lots of questions....a lover of all things Orlando, I just want to know, dang it!

Hope you are having as much fun as me!:goodvibes

In September 2000, 12 of us (6 adults, 6 kids) took a family trip to WDW. I was put in charge of research.:teeth: I stumbled on some links posted on Deb's site (AllEars) and one of the ones I clicked on was the DIS.:) The only board I really knew about was the resort board, so I stayed there for awhile. We took our trip and I didn't make it back to the DIS until I got an email about some trip Dreams Unlimited was giving away and the link took me back to the DIS. I'm not sure how I found my way to the Community Board, but it's been my favorite board thus far.

I'm ready for Dreams to post about another free trip.:teeth:

Welcome aboard, Tess. I'm Shannon, btw.

I had lurked for a while then had a ? for the DVC Board. I hung out there for a while and somehow found the CB board

Five years ago, when DH and I first got married, we couldn't afford to go on a honeymoon right away because of his job situation. SO..he asked me where I'd like to go when his job permitted it (he was working at a local community college then) and I said "Disney World!". I ended up on the DIS because of some advice from a friend who'd used it to plan her WDW vacation. I've been here ever since. :)

It is different being involved with a post and merely reading the posts. I can see that I will have to remember to think before I post! Thanks for all of your answers! It has been fun flipping around here today!

I was planning a trip for myself, my family, and my best friend (we went in May 2000), so I posted to ask some questions I believe. I was in college, so I had some free time and enjoyed spending it on the DIS. I now love coming here and have even made some good friends in this community. :)

I think I was trying to figure out how to rent DVC points, so I bookmarked the board. Then I discovered the 'search' feature...and it's all a blur after that. But a good blur, pleasant and friendly.

My husband and I were planning a trip to Las Vegas and decided to take a trip to California. We spoke about possibly going to Disneyland, so as I was looking for information, I had found this site. I had gotten alot of information and like coming here to see what is going on and have meet some really nice people. The exchanges are fun to participate in also. We are going on our trip tomorrow and will be visiting Disneyland in May.

Hey, Len, are we going to get you to be a 'regular' here on the Community Board? Time to break away from the Theme Park planning for a bit, LOL. :teeth:

I had been lurking for a long time and felt like Cruise04
You hear all these spooky things about people on the internet. But it turned out everyone was great and no question was a dumb question.
My first post was one that really peaked my interest and here I am getting close to being a DIS Veteran!! YAY! :sunny:

Easy, Dan Murphy got me to post. His trip reports (that have never been finished by the way) about his families first trip to Disney inspired me to post a reply. Haven't looked back since. I was a lurker for over a year and half before that. I remember the really old school DIS with just a few boards.

:flower3: Thanks for the Welcome! It kinda feels wierd to not be lurking! I will have to go find a picture and everything! I am so excited. It is almost like shopping!

Oh Tess! This is so cute! I love that you’ve got it!
Welcome aboard!
It is certainly a great place.

I got here because our tablemates on the DVC Members Cruise were involved with pin trading while on the cruise and they were wearing a “special” ID button. I asked about it and they gave me this site. I thought my DH (who btw is the real Mickey fanatic) would like whatever info I could find for him. So initially, I did it for DH.
Now DH just shakes his head at me as he watches me because I have found my “home.”
