I had been looking at DVC for a few years. At one point about 6 years ago, I sent in a request to talk to a salesperson. They never responded because I live in California.
A few years ago, we went to WDW for 10 days. We booked at the Caribbean Beach, a "moderate" lodging. LOL, it was the size of a shoebox and on the ground floor on a walkway so we really couldn't open the curtains. The little courtyard outside our room was a mud pit with cigarette butts floating in it. (smokers are pigs but that's a different thread) It's not the kind of thing that you would see in the brocures.
After regretting this choice for a few days, I was talking to one of the kiosks-o-plenty ladies and I set up a tour. We spoke to the guide for a while then went on the tour. When the guide opened the door to the one-bedroom and we walked inside to a roomy, bright, well-equipped suite, my wife turned and whispered "How long until we can sign?" The Queen has Spoken!
Until that point, she had been the voice of reason and moderation and I was shocked. She's now the driving force behind our vacation plans. I think that it's the Jaccuzi tub that drives her.
We haven't stayed in a muddy shoebox since.
