What kinds of things do you/can you request on your DVC Reservations?

It is just about time to make our first reservation. :Pinkbounc

Is there anything in particular that I should request?

Other than non-smoking and view, what else can be requested?

Thanks!

I think you may find that the more particular you get with your requests, other than non-smoking or a particular view, the more difficult it may be for those requests to be fulfilled. I think this also sets you up for greater dissappointment. Good luck with your ressie!

The more general/less specific the request- the better your chances of getting your request met.

Some will specify "close to elevator", "first floor" (or 2nd floor ... or third floor ... or ...), a range of buildings or even a specific room.

The more complicated the request- the more room for disappointment.

The KISS principle certainly applies to DVC requests- Keep It Simple! :sunny:

Good Luck!

depends upon where you are staying

OKW - water view near a bus stop (I generally get one or the other sometimes both)

VWL - near the elevators on the lake side of the resorts (the bad views are on the other side) -

BWV - standard view - near the elevators
BWV - preferred view - BW (You can now request BW view......if this is where you are staying and can afford the preferred view - go for it)

BCV - high as possible - epoct view if availability.

someothers may be completely different - you need to say where you will be staying.

We bought into SSR, but I am thinking about making our first trip to BCV so we can walk to 2 parks and have less transportation issues.

Can you see Illuminations from there? Do I ask for an Illuminations view?

I think this totally depends on what YOU want.

For me, I always request non-smoking and non-handicapped. Anything else, just depends on my mood when I make that ressie. At BCV, I have asked for pool view and Epcot view on differing occasions.

One person's "bad" view is someone else's "perfect" view.

Doc is right that the more you request, the harder you make it for the reservation people to find a room meeting what you ask for.

Recent reports with this "room ready" system have seen people being offered what rooms are available in their category. For example, for my June trip, I had booked a studio. On a whim, I added a pool view request to my ressie just to see what happened. I wasn't going to cry over it if I didn't get it, but thought I'd test the system. When I checked in a room fitting that request was available but not cleaned. I was then given a list of studios that were available that day to choose from AND were clean. I chose something completely different from pool view and it turned out just fine.

When we make our first reservation for SSR, all I'm going to request is a building where construction is complete - I'm fairly easy going, but a stickler for things like windows and doors.

I think that all SSR rooms will offer a lake view. The first 4 buildings will also have a look at DD/PI across that lake. the other 8 buildings will be situated around another lake- some will look across the lake towards the pool and others will look across that same lake and look at the buildings that look towards the pool. The suroundings will be nicely landscaped, so all views will offer a relaxing setting.

Enjoy!

Thanks, so at least in the beginning a lake view should almost be a given.

From aerial shots of the site, it seems that the buildings are a bit of a hike to the main pool. I wonder how much of the original DI can be seen. Will it be just a "freshening" or a complete gut and rebuild for all the buildings. The footprint of the main buildings have remained largely unchanged from DI. I'm also curious about the "all the rooms have a lake view" comment. While all four buildings face the lake, are the buildings only one unit in depth? In other words, could there be a bank of units that mirror the ones that face the lake and face opposite of the lake? Maybe I should call my guide...... :teeth:

I think Doc is right...

the building size is smaller than OKW - and not really large enough to double the rooms - compare it to the BCV - where the rooms are doubled....

all the DI building will be gutted and complete rebuilt - don't know about the spa and gym - I think they were recently done.

there are several elevators at BCV - so that is not a problem - I haven't heard of any.....

Did I hear that SSR was going to have outside your door parking? If so, the views would all be out one side of the building, just like at OKW. All the OKW buildings have the windows (except for the second bedroom/studio) out to the back with the view. The second bedroom/studio has windows on both sides.
