What is your proximity to WDW?

We live near Chicago (suburb 50 miles SouthWest). It is about an 18 hour drive, which we have not done yet, flying is my preferred choice, maybe one day I will drive if I have more time to stop in certain areas along the way.

Hernando,MS about a 13 hour drive. We always fly and will continue to do so as long as the airfares remain reasonable.

8 to 11 hours - depending upon the way I go and how many stops.

lately it has been around 9 hours.

Indianapolis, Indiana - 16-18 hour drive or 2-hour flight.

I agree with the above poster. The map in the DVC magazine showed a high concentration of members in the midwest and northeast.

We live in Upstate New York. From the last disneyfiles magazine-
#1 New York 13,300 members
#2 New Jersey 12,100
#3 Florida 11,800
#4 Pennsylvania 8,500
#5 Illinois 7,400
#6 California 5,100

So basically us Northeasterners NEED a little Disney magic every once in a while!!!

Also, if you're on the fence, don't forget that you can use your points at DL and Hawaii (once its built)!!!

Just northeast of Columbus, OH. That places us almost exactly 1,000 miles north of WDW. It's a 16 hour drive, or a 2 hour flight. I prefer the 2 hour flight!!!

long island ny 16-18 hrs away drive tme and 2 1/2 hr flight havent driven in a while but prob will again soon , go for it you will love it

We are in upstate NY near the Canadian border. It is about a 3 1/2 hour flight or 30 hours by car. We are flying down this November first time as DVC members! Can't wait!!!

8 hour flight away, so only a visit every 2-3 years for me. Still love my membership though :)

Another Central New Yorker here... about 24-26 hr drive... but will be flying for our next trip.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

A new DVC will be opening at Disneyland, probably late next year; it is part of the Grand Californian addition under construction now. Moreover, another DVC will be opening Hawaii in 2010 or 2011. In other words, you might be a candidate for purchasing at Grand Californian.

Why not buy a contract at the GCV at Disneyland? Then you could use them for your DL stays and when you make it to WDW.

Very good points. Perhaps we can look into that option.

Thanks again:thumbsup2

We are 550 miles away and drive and we can make in there in a little over 8 hours.

We are in NW New Jersey. To give you an idea, I can get to Manhattan in about 45 minutes.

We currently live in Jacksonville (2 hours away), however we'll be moving to the DC area next year. I'm so happy we own DVC so I don't have to give up Disney, even though we'll be farther away.

Don't sweat it -- the drive is still fine -- 14 hours-ish and totally doable in a day. Not like J-ville, but you'll love it here!

Just about 1000 miles away, in Ohio.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. Tomorrow, I'm doing my 550 mile drive to Cape May NJ. That pushes the limit on how far I'm willing to drive in one day. It takes me 11 + hours including stops. I don't anticipate ever driving to WDW from here.
