What is YOUR Pet Peeve When Traveling @ WDW??

I am sorry life has thrown you and your family so many curveballs but why does that entitle your daughter to simply be rude and nasty. My brother is a loving child and one who simply lives for the moment. He doesn't understand the bad things in life. Hopefully he will not become as jaded as you and yours. He asks for no special treatment and gets none. But sometimes as awful as this is for some people, he has to use the ladies room. He is not old enough or mature enough to yet go by himself. It is not a matter of being overprotective as you say. Just a fact of life.

Well I guess I'm the bad person for having an opposing opinion. Fine. I'm out of here and thanks for letting me know that only certain DIS peoples opinions count for anything. Maybe I better just stick to the DISabilities boards and stay away from the boards for able bodies people because I don't belong here. What biggots!

You know what, that may work on alot of people but not me. We deal with a handicapped person everyday. So spare me. You simply think it is ok for you and your family to behave a certain way that is really unacceptable. Did you ever think people respond the way they do because of your attitude? People on these boards are very nice, and are simply expressing opions, one being about the behavior of you and yours. Just because you have problems does not give you the right to take it out on others. I would think someone like you would know better. Unfortunately, I just found it offensive that it is ok for someone to scream at a child for using a restroom and felt the need to respond.

Oh yes because Im able bodied I want your family yelling at my sons. Im not the one thinking I own the bathroom. You use your disabilities all the time on the boards to gripe about others. If the biggot shoe fits, wear it.

I realize that I am NOT a moderator...but I AM the starter of this thread!! I started this thread after a week long trip to Disney World and thinking that if certain things bother me, then perhaps there are other things that bother others. As the thread has gone along, I have gotten some new perspective on things and have made some personal choices to pay closer attention to the things I say and do, so that I can be an example to my children as they see me deal with difficult situations.

It appears that other people may have the same idea as we have had over 10000 views and over 200 responses. This thread was NOT INTENDED to FLAME others choices or dislikes. It is simply to allow you to tell WHAT YOUR PET PEEVE IS. Unfortunately if this constant going back and forth with strong opinons does not cease, I KNOW that the one of the board moderators WILL CLOSE it down. Please stop this or take it to another board. Perhaps the debate board???

It was my desire at the onset of this thread to use it as a information gathering and life enhancing trip planner hint, NOT a slam board. As the orginal starter of this thread I ask you to please help us to continue this magic as the thread was intended.....tell us your pet peeve!!

Here is another one of mine......When i eat ALL the choc on my Mickey Bar...knowing all i have is ice cream left! How sad!!

My brother never accompanied Mom and I to the restroom after the age of 6 and we travelled all over the world.

Talking Hands - I am truly sorry that your DD had to go through such a nightmare experience...... but the Moms who take their sons into the women's bathroom are just trying to prevent such a thing from happening to their child. My DS is now 15 - but until he was around 9 or so - and we were in a store or traveling without my DH - he did go in the bathroom with me.

You people are too darn over protective.

A parent can never be too protective. You are proving that point yourself - by your responses to this thread and the references to your daughter. It's what parents do..... For every circumstance - there is a different point of view - we need to step back and consider and ponder all.

Oh, I see. Disagree with a rude person who happens to be handicapped when they say it is ok to scream at a 6 year old child, then you are a bigot....makes perfect sense.

Another example of a PC world gone mad.

OK, Pixie
I will jump in here and help you out.

My two big pet peeves are .....
...people who use foul language in public, especially in public areas with children! I spent six years in the Marines and have heard much more than my share of such language, but at least there we knew where NOT to use such language.
... and the other is having to deal with people who think the rules do not have to apply to them, whether it be smoking in non-smoking areas, cutting in line, etc...

haaaaa( sigh of relief) but I am all 'peeved' out so maybe when I get back I will be full of them (hope NOT):) !

Way to go tiberius! I have been reading this thread from the beginning, and still can't find where it went so off track.

I started at the end, and coundn't believe the responses, so I went to the beginning to try and figure it out. I still can't!

I like the responses that state that the Disney magic overshadows all the rude people. This will be our first family trip, so I really hope that is the case!!!

It seems that it is all in your attitude--don't let rude people make you behave poorly and thus define who you are, if you do, then how are you any better?

Rude people drive me crazy, but if they have such a bad attitude at the "Happiest Place on Earth", then I just feel sorry for them.

...just when I thought I was gonna see some fur-flyin', and hair-pullin', and mud-slingin', everything settles down:( ....well, since I'm here, might as well put in MY 2c....

MY pet peeve is lookin' at the WDW entrance gate through my rear view mirror [as I head back home]!

Mine is, a group of people that need to walk at least 4 wide and not let you pass...

My point is that a men's restroom is no place for a little girl of any age as far as I'm concerned. Why should a woman's restroom be the place for a little boy to be that's 8 years old or older?

I think you hit the nail on the head when talking about the "privacy" issue in the men's room. In the ladies room, there are stalls. A boy is not going to see a woman using the restroom. A little girl, on the other hand, would be exposed to men at the urinals. I see that as a HUGE difference!

Let me RE-EMPHASIZE that if there are family accessible restrooms, I would MUCH prefer to use them than take my son in the ladies room. When we go this time, I will make it a priority to find out where family friendly restrooms are and plan accordingly. I thank everyone who confirmed their existence.

P.S. I don't (well, I TRY not to!) throw stones--I live in a glass house!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to respect when they express that opinion.

Sorry, I posted the above before I got to WhispyPixie's request. I will stop my end of the debate.

Another one of my peeves is people who constantly (loudly) complain about how overpriced Disney is (while they're there!!), how HOT it is (DUH, it's FLORIDA!), and how much the rain ruins everything.

And, no matter whatever peeve I may have, it is definitely no match for Disney magic! That's why we keep going back.

Sorry to WhispyPixie for getting off track! I'm back on now:D Thanks for not flaming me!!:D

I have a stroller...I try not to run anyone over, but occassionaly I forget what I'm doing.

I sometimes yell at my son...not with mean words or hitting, just the "dont' make me ...."

I very often have IIP, heck even in my own house this happens.

I take my son into the women's potty and I use the family/companion stall when it is available.

But on the plus side..I don't smoke, I don't cut in line, I only use the number of chairs necessary for my party at a table, we walk single file, we don't wait for parades so we just figure if we see them great if not oh well, we always give our seats to the elderly and those with children (my mom holds the 3 year old, I stand and hold the stroller, the bags, the drinks, etc),

So I will be more careful in my hollering at my son, I'll watch the stroller more carefully, I will pull away from teh crowd to stop and think and when the new baby gets here I will be sure to cover him/her up and check with the doc to make sure sun screen is okay.

Honestly, I have found this thread fun to travel through, although i admit to skipping a few pages.

My only pet peeve is people who think the fit my son is throwing is cute b/c it's not their child...but then agan I'm guilty of doing the same thing with other 3 year olds throwing tantrums!!

I agree with that. My thought is if your going to complain about how expensive and overpriced it is, then just dont come to DW. Nothing is inexpensive anymore, so shut up, pay up, and enjoy the moments. I guess thats why its called vacation.

Im sorry if we got off track as well. I'll try to be good from now on. my new pet peeve is when the other 400,000 to 500,000 people in the WDW resort and parks don't know exactly what I want, when I want it and do everything in their power to make sure I get it...geez...some people.......LOL!!!
p.s. that is meant to be sarcastic...humorous...

Wow this disccussion is quite interesting I've never really thought of all the different personal situations that people come into the parks with. I will definately keep them in mind while I do travel. I have to say that peeves definately don't completely overshadow the magic for me although I do have a few. Most of which are the same as everyone elses smoking (in non-designated areas), strollers (when they are being mashed into my legs), people (when they aren't doing what I want ;)

Some different ones
ECV's when a person has no control what so ever a lady the other day at Seaworld ran over my brother's feet knocked a guy over and gave another gal a huge bruise. Dangerous if you ask me I wish someone would show everyone how to use emergency stops on those. Someone could be seriously injured.

Vacuume toilets they are sure loud in the morning. ;)

The fact that some of the animal exhibits don't have that much information around them. When I was looking at the living seas the other day at the Manatee's there wasen't any info about them being commonly hit by boats etc... I was sitting there explaining it to people. It makes me sad to see a lack of info on something that is so simple to educate about. Even after I asked a cast member about the one with the damaged tail I did not find out the animal's story.

The green lanyards more than once I've only wanted to trade for a simple rack pin for a friend but was unable to do so. Yes, I could buy them but as a college student I have limited funds and since I had pins I had bought for reasonably cheap I wish I could trade. I love having kids involved heck I often trade with children just for the fun of it but the lanyards being kids only is annoying to me personally. (I know not everyone feels this way)

People being rude/inconsiderate which happens everywhere of course but in the parks I am exposed to more people and therefore more rude behaviors. Of course I have talked to many interesting people from all of the world in the parks which is a lot of fun as well. It's always interesting to see what they think your part of the country is like.

The fact that the Disney always makes Lion King stuff that is so kewl that I just have to have it. ;)

I am sure there are other things but those are what I can think of right now.

it was as! was the mud throwing, fur flying , monkey swinging( poetic license)one... we needed a laugh so thanks! :teeth:

Just wanted to say....MORNING EVERYONE... yeah that is how i feel and look in the mornings!!

Thanks for getting things back on topic!! Ya'll are great!

isyne4u .... I had to laugh after reading your post! The thing is at some point and time we are all guilty of these things, even MEEEE..lol The thing is we learn about what ticks other people off and can try to remember that as we tour the parks!

Pixie

PS...my new pet peeve...Bees that try to steal my cinnoman rolls at Animal Kingdom!! They are horrible there!
